@Shienvien Which distro? Ubuntu, presumably? I dual boot Linux Mint, and I don't recall having this issue the last time I booted into Linux.

It doesn't seem to be an FF-specific issue, as I haven't had it, nor a site-wide one. It'd surprise me if it was an Ubuntu-specific one, as Mint is based on Ubuntu and it hasn't occurred there, either. It is extremely unlikely to be machine-specific, since it occurs on multiple machines for you. I suppose it could be caused by any plugins you may have installed in FF, or your internet connection? Not sure what else it could be, honestly, although I could very well be wrong.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Mahz might be better equipped to do so once he returns from RL.

Hey @Mahz, when you come back from work, do you think we could get an option to filter threads by a criteria other than the most recent post's time-stamp. I'd like to be able to filter them by the date they were created. I don't really care much for an RP started three months ago with the most recent poist being two minutes ago. I just want the option to filter it with other criteria.

Net connection can be safely excluded - not only is mine very good, but net connection problems aren't exactly prone to randomly eating pre-existing cookies. I'd otherwise expect safety settings, but I have triple- and quadruple-checked those from all angles now. It keeps cookies until they expire - and given that I've discovered myself still logged on on sites I've not visited in months or even over a year, it does just that.
Laptop is 64-bit Ubuntu(14.04)/Win 8 dual boot. Netbox is SUSE.

@Melkor: That's on to do list for certain.

EDIT: Well, I can now confirm that problem persists at least on laptop. Closed browser == no login session.

I've been trying to replicate this on my computer (Ubuntu 15.04, Moz Firefox latest) while I'm not on Windows for the purposes of Kerbal Space Program. So far, I haven't had any session issues, not even between restarts or intentional FF closures.

It occurs any Firefox (37.something onward, currently on 38.0, didn't occur with 36) closure for me, be it from general computer restart, browser restart from browser updates, clicking on the x - and only for this site; other sessions survive just fine.
Chrome seems to actually store the session fine even with a couple of weeks going by and FF eating the cookies a handful of times in between. (But again, Chrome tends to seize up and crash on some of the addons I need, and I have more than enough windows open at all times, especially on laptop.)
Cell (Android, FF) doesn't seem to be eating session cookies. It has an update for FF queued, though, so this may change.

@Shienvien

Not so much, currently.

There was an issue a few weeks ago that I was made aware of, and was going to fix, but the dev environment is a bit fucked unless you're Mahz atm - various small things related to setting up the database, etc. that need to be kept updated haven't been, and over time it's all piled up and made it near impossible to get anything done; you'd have to fix 16 (pulling that number out of thin air, is probably exaggerating) problems before you could even start on what you meant to accomplish to begin with.

Mahz will have to sort all that out eventually, but for now he is the only one who can do anything with the code, really. And besides, pull requests need to be accepted by Mahz and then pushed to the guild itself, and I'm not sure that he has time for even that at this point.

There are major crashing issues currently occurring on the Guild. In fact, even getting this post up (if it gets up) is an incredible strain. It crashes 4/5 times when something attempts to load. Something needs to be done ASAP.

this is the same for me.

I'm getting the error page when I try to go to my subscriptions, PMs
Or page, and when I try and click on anything in my sub page.

Aaye. I thought it was just because I was using the in-game steam browser, but evidently I'm not the only one having the issue.
A friend of mine sent an email to Mahz. Hopefully the issue can be rooted out.

I sent one myself as soon as it was evident that the errors were occurring.

I believe that the hiccup in the Guild's performance may have been due to a DDoS attack. In the event that a network is flooded with packets, it is logical that some legitimate packets may make it through to the actual server, in which case, the occasional loads would make sense. And it ended as quickly as it began, leading me to believe the attack terminated. I don't believe it was an update, because it didn't cut out at once; instead, it cut out gradually. However, only Mahz has the data to ascertain the truth.

I checked in with Mahz and he confirmed that he's still alive and very busy. He said he'll make time soon when he's back in Mexico to do a little work on the Guild. A little more patience, everyone.

Funny how when someone goes offline for a few days the automatic thought is usually, "Are they still alive? :P

We knew he was busy working for money, but otherwise very true, @NuttsnBolts. Confirmation never hurts, y'know.
