Hey folks. I'm sorry for not having shown much of a lifesign these past few weeks, but I've actually been quite badly ill, and couldn't do much of anything, thus also not writing any kind of post. The good news is that I did not actually die, so I can get back to business as usual. How's it going Beo, Ink? We should probably consider continuing our collab one of these days.

And on my part, I apologise. I thought that, a few days ago when I said I was back in the fight, when I wasn't really. There was like a serious situation with illness in the family and it was all dramatic and sad but for the most part, the worst of it is out of the way. I find myself now with a few free hours (the first in weeks) which I will use wisely from here to get this going again.

I'll be working now on a response to @Dark Jack's post. I will also tae steps to further the Turncloak arc once the others involved have had a chance to input.

@Ink Blood@Ashgan@SirBeowulf Just let me know when you guys are ready to continue on a collab and we'll get your arc up and running once more.

Cheers dude. I'll be around as much as I possibly can from here on out, though do expect intermittent (though I will warn everybody beforehand) periods of a day or two where I am not capable of extended interaction. Also I have added to our collaboration, it'd good to be back.

I've always found the notion of the *sight* of something driving someone insane curious (as it is one that is fairly hard for me to connect to, to the point where it feels impossible despite me reading accounts of it supposedly happening ... although you could also argue that it was something else that induced the PTSD). I wonder how much something like this relates to the (in)ability to feel fear?

Most likely. I was pretty sick the last few days, still am, but not that badly. I'll see what I can do.

Personally I'd think that it's not as much sights that would drive a person insane as the comprehension of what they see. Fear is a likely thing to cause insanity like that, probably, but I'd think that empathy could also faciliatate insanity like that, if one witnessed another person (or an animal, even) endure something horrible.
So a psychopath, who is incapable of empathy and has a high tolerance for stress, I'd actually imagine they're less prone to being driven insane by witnessing an event alone.

I do have very high stress tolerance and am more or less incapable of feeling fear - which certainly does affect how I personally perceive things. I am, however, also an empath, or something fairly close to it - that entire sensing how people feel, even if I might not necessarily be able to relate to why they feel like that.
But ... yeah. I simply cannot believe it would be possible for me to ever go insane from witnessing something, no matter what it is. (I've admittedly occasionally joked that being mildly deranged is a prerequisite of going into my main field, but that's beside the point.) Protective instincts and inability to feel fear combined, I'd just do something utterly stupid from self-preservation standpoint (and past has proven that I actually will, too). And feel guilt afterwards if I couldn't stop something from happening.
(In a sense, I'd even say that in some instances, actually seeing things for yourself can bring a sense of closure and peace of mind. With death of someone you cared about especially... Or being there and at least trying to do something, if something something futile, as opposed to just being somewhere else and not knowing a thing.)
