Name: Dynamite Sanchez
Homeworld: Mictlan, formerly Earthrealm
Appearance: Sanchez is the unliving skeleton of a luchadore, wearing red sweatpants and a white tanktop. As such, there's little in the way of defining features- aside from the fact that his skull is
painted like his old wrestling mask.Fighting Style: High-Flying Lucha Libre. While lacking muscles and blood seriously hampers your ability to build adrenaline or hit hard, it has two distinct advantages: zero air resistance and very little surface area. Because of this, Sanchez is a quick fighter with very high defenses who doesn't have to worry about elemental attacks- without nerves or blood, he has little to fear from fire, ice, or lightning. Because his bones have already petrified, he's also a good deal more durable than the average skeleton. On the flipside, his attacks (save his throws and grapples) are actually pretty weak and he's prone to falling apart during many moves requiring a jump.
Special Abilities:- Collapse: a defensive trait, where he can mitigate damage by falling into a pile of bones- it can take a bit to reform, however.
- Undeath: poison... just doesn't work. Nor does trying to rip out his heart, shoot his head, or stab his guts.
- Dynamite Suplex: Sanchez's signature move. Performing a bellyslide under his opponent, he kicks up into a handstand, using his legs to catch the opponent under their arms and continuing forward to slam them headfirst into the ground.
- Palo Special: One of Jackie Pallo's signature moves. A leglock in which Sanchez wraps his legs around the opponent's from behind, forces their arms up, and pushes forward, dislocating the opponent's arms.
- Hurricanrana: Let's be honest- you've got to have SOME supernatural abilities to pull this off.
Fatality: Deluxe Dynamite Suplex: Sanchez grabs his opponent, and performs a Dynamite Suplex so hard it causes their skeleton to fly out in a geyser of blood, shooting skyward. He then proceeds to spin and catch the skeleton like a tango partner, catching a rose in his teeth.
Personality: A Technico from the Lucha Libre scene, Dynamite Sanchez is an upstanding citizen. He's annoyingly cheerful. A showman at heart, he's prone to hamming it up for the audience and performing spectacular moves. He will fight you if you say Lucha Libre is fake.
Backstory: Pablo "Dynamite" Sanchez, in life, was a famous Luchadore. His career took him all across Mexico, fighting for the honor of his ancestors against . For centuries, they had been warriors, and the ring was his way of following in their footsteps. However, one night after a match, he was hit by a bus and killed- still wearing his mask. He had a perfect 15-0 win record at the time of his death. This is the start of how he came to join the tournament of Mortal Kombat.
The rest of the story involves a four-year journey to the ninth level of Mictlan, the Aztec land of the dead. He had to pass many challenges, such as crossing a mountain range where the mountains crashed into each other, a field with wind that blew flesh-scraping knives, and a river of blood with fearsome jaguars. By the time he reached the ninth level, he was stripped of flesh and hardened to the horrors of true battle by his journey. He joined the legion of skeletons there... in a fairly normal life. He even continued wrestling- Mictlan's ninth level is more or less a constantly starlit version of Earthrealm, surrounded by the spirits of deceased friends and family. It was pretty sweet. But one day, he overheard the dead talking about a lethal tournament for the fate of Earth. Worse, the losers didn't end up in the afterlife they were supposed to. To the noble Dynamite Sanchez, this was bullshit- how dare someone interfere with the sacred cycles of the cosmos? And worse, how long before the jerk tried to conquer Mictlan?
It turned out that getting OUT of Mictlan is a lot easier than getting in, particularly due to Dia De Los Muertos festivities calling the spirits back to commune with their families. Sanchez took a little extra baggage- his now-calcified skeleton- and proceeded to burst from his grave, much to the surprise of his family. This tale of a warrior who fought his way through the trials of the afterlife twice was quick to reach the ears of Raiden, and the pseudo-revenant was brought into the fold.
Motivation: End the tournament for good and ensure everyone gets to go to the kickass afterlife awaiting them... or reincarnation, if they so prefer.
