Oh uh. I'm not sure how to explain that. You can really just pick whichever family you like and create a character for it, though if there's characters exiting in said family you should make note to talk to them about how to entwine bios and such.

Well no they don't have to. Though you can make the one of the heads of the houses if you really want to.

It's more of a player driven role play as of yet so there isn't much of a goal other than politics and such. It's a society built of blood and power >_<
As for your character I'm not sure how to help you. It's pretty straight forward. The character sheet is on the first page.
