You still there, bros? It looks like the RP will be saved. People are posting, again.

Also, like we will soon be collecting the crotchskulls of fallen elves.

Well, Tin just gave Yllendthyr something to talk about with that letter
Your demands are downright ridiculous in that letter.
So either Yllendthyr will ignore and pretend like the letter was never properly delivered.
Or tell your Sultan straight that just because his predecessors were nutjobs it doesn't give him the power to make claims and accuses without any basis. Of course told in nice round sentences which may even praise Babur on the surface.
Overall, this would reinforce the Empire's impression that your Sultan is too young to lead. Whether it's good or bad to have such belittling reputation within Yllendthyr is a matter of how you use it.

They know that you won't cede the territory, I even said that in my post.

As in for downright ridiculous, there have been plenty of absurd claims throughout history. Just look at the Treaty of Tordesillas. Not to mention thay Tin is rather ridiculous ad well.

Well, then I wonder how did they survive for this long.
Dividing up the New World between two powers who already dominated it is one thing.
Making claims on land with no basis is another. Your sultan states this as if he had any legal claim over Zanshir when it's just one of their newest conquests. They just weren't fast enough to take it all before Yllendthyr also set foot on it.
The Tordesillas Treaty was unfair in many accounts but based on a valid premise. Your letter has no grounds behind its claim and pretty much is just asking for trouble.
I get that Tin wants all of Zanshir. I get that they're crazy. But Babur is supposedly adept in military matters so he may know that currently waging a war in Zanshir isn't the best idea.
Or is he rushing to capture Zanshir because he fears an incoming war where Yllendthyr may use the islands as their front base?
Well, that sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Unless Tin conquers the elven part of Zanshir quick he's forcing Yllendthyr to fortify the island and put some decent military power behind it.
Then again, wisdom is a gift for the elderly.

The Treaty of Tordesillas allowed Portugal to claim the entirety of Brazil when they only had a few cities along the coastline, for instance. Similarly, Tin's logic is, "We claimed those islands, we started colonizing them, and then Yllendthyr swooped in and grabbed part before we could get there!"

Tin is like a North Korea that actually has enough power to be taken seriously. Nobody is going to stop Babur from sending a letter.

It will probably have the effect of making Yllendthyr fortify, yes, but Tin is about to do the same thing. When the elves see this they'd sen in more troops letter or not.

Keep in mind that Babur also blames the elves for arming the natives and inciting rebellion. He feels compelled to get them out, and soon.

Keep in mind that Babur also blames the elves for arming the natives and inciting rebellion. He feels compelled to get them out, and soon.
And that's another issue.
He literally has no proof and given the fairly unique equipment elves use it's fairly easy to determine if somebody is using their weapons.
That and he misses the plain obvious fact that bombings were also rampant on the elven side, and these killed even more people. As the first IC post shows the explosions were plain heard from even the other side of the border.
I don't buy this. Babur has number of ways to know Yllendthyr has no hand in the bombings.
At best he may spread this rumor as Babur's casus belli.
Which is actually not a bad idea, either. Branding the enemy as somebody who supports indiscriminate murder against Tinties is quite a good excuse. It works well even in our world.

EDIT: That's the same deal for practically every colonist around that time. They ignore the natives and claim right as the only dominant European power. IIRC, the Portogese also tricked Spain because unlike them they didn't know Brazil is that big.
In your case Babur's response is full of sour grapes. We are well past the colonization so he's asking the impossible by demanding to hand over a well-established state. Please tell me he isn't serious with this and only attempting to goad Yllendthyr into a war.

It's a combination of goading Yllendthyr and also making it look as if he actually tried diplomacy. Did you catch that he's summoned 3 other nations to discuss the Zanjir situation? Saying that he tried diplomacy with Yllendthyr and that it failed miserably (naturally, not saying what the letter or its contents were) is something of a prerequisite to getting any support. Why would other nations agree to offer diplomatic or military support if Tin hadn't even tried 'discussing' this with Yllendthyr first?

Tin wouldn't be surprised if they found out that the PRK was responsible for the bombings and native uprisings, but that front has been relatively cool for years and they probably don't see why the PRK would care about a few islands halfway across the world. Tin is obviously going to blame the elves for arming the natives unless their investigation finds anything to prove otherwise, because who else has a presence nearby and who else would stand to gain anything from it? The fact that they don't have mithril weaponry doesn't matter because they wouldn't expect the elves to be so stupid as to supply them with stuff that could be so easily traced back.

I don't see why you're objecting that this situation is all that absurd. In any case, I did it mainly as an IC move to escalate tensions like we agreed OOC. Next up will come the waves of refugees and the thing with Tin's embassy in Yllendthyr that we discussed via PM a while ago. The combination of those 3 things in addition to Tin icnreasing military presence in the Zanjir would be enough to spark the war we want.

I'm also intentionally giving you a lot of dirt to use against Tin, so that Yllendthyr can go to their allies and make this look like they're the reasonable ones that were attacked by a crazy theocracy for no reason.

@CycloneOh there's a bit of misunderstanding. I don't oppose your letter or its contents. I just wanted you to make it clear that Babur is just playing at the role and doesn't believe this.
Anyways, you have to make Yllendthyr to attack first to convince your would be allies. Because aside from the shady KalMea nobody is going to tag along with your "Zanshir is ours, damn elves stole it from us!" explanation.
Same way you may want to think on a way to forge evidence agaonst elves to prove they are the aggressors.
If you find solution to either I thonk you can succeed at your "anti-elf alliance".
Good luck!
I am all for getting Yllendthyr into a mess.

Well the excuse of elves supporting the terrorist rebels is a good one. Besides that, Tin is willing to repay the favor later or offer a piece of the conquered land, some money, lucrative trade deals, etc.

They'll discuss terms when this meeting happens.

Ugh. Stop arguing. He sent a silly letter, it's gonna start a war. Leaders are stupid sometimes, but it makes some sense that he would be suspicious of the elves and believe that the islands are all theirs (we were here first!). It's really not all that strange, and I wouldn't be surprised at all for a real leader to do the same.

Now, who wants pie?

Actually, I'm going to go find that RP and read through it again, trying not to cringe at my old and utterly awful posts :3
