Author Note: This roleplay will be GM Controlled with Dungeon-Like maps and have Simplified to Moderate Dice Usage. You may not fear me to ask questions or criticize but don't go out to say "It's stupid" because then I will say, "No. The fact you took your time to call it stupid was stupid." I am also still working on a few things before and if we begin so please be patient (ex; Maps) Thank you.

Period Unknown; Year Unknown; StarMap "Lost Jerusalem"; Coordinates Unstable; System Steady

Generations ago, Earth has been completely erased from the starmaps and renamed "Lost Jerusalem" while mankind existed on isolated planets and artificial colonies. Mankind has become advanced since their time in the galaxies for generations on end that their own government has been formed; known as Galaxy Federation of Realians. However, the universe is not divided into galaxies or solar systems for the few that exist, but is divided into UAN columns. Initially, everything was hosted by humans and were the dominate species but no thanks or thanks to science and paranormal beliefs; the birth of several similar and very different species came to existence including cyborgs, Gnosis, Realians and Mecha.
Since its discovery in Lost Jerusalem or what was once known as Earth, this column hid an artifact known as the Kabbalah which is highly sought after. The Galaxy Federation of Realians wish to harness the powers it holds within, harnessing it. Both groups (The Federation and Non), believe that the Kabbalah's significance is threefold, as a power source, the cause of Gnosis appearance, and the key to rediscovering what has been erased of Lost Jeruselem. Many researchers have studied and attempted to control the Kabbalah. Among the results, a handful of Emulators and Clones have been developed. However the original still by far surpasses them all with it's energy output and none is capable of the original Kabbalah's capabilities.
As a result, an society known as the Covem and the Galaxy Federation of Realians attempt to find the Original Kabbalah which has been sealed away on Milita after the Militian Conflict. Unfortunatly for them, the key to unlocking it is contained within the Y and Z Database hidden in the minds of two special Realians; M.O and M.O.
To retrieve such data, the Covem unleashes a plot against the Federation and all who sided with it using a series of insiders and it's military force; Z-TIC Organization. In turn the Federation unleashes it's own pawns against them, possible in the line fire to start another war or conflict. Meanwhile, one of the largest corporations in existence known as the Xeno Industries is currently researching new ways to use nanotechnology to build a clone database of one of the M.O.M.O, along upgrading it to focus on an anti-Gnosis battle function; an android. Will all this chaos reshape the destiny of mankind? What would happen to the very things we once knew when things go down the drain?
Our Story;

The Columns are filled with horrible people and creatures. We always receive news from the Federation that there is peace and safety in their capital and that a new era is soon to be. What a load of bullshit that is, never smelt anything so fake in my life. Sounds like their pissing in their sheets every night about something, doubt it could be the Gnosis. They have been reoccurring every generation. Guess it is none of our business, we are just a band of space "pirates" stealing whatever catches our eye and thanks to our amazing team, we became...unknown. The Federation has silenced any information about thieves, pirates, and all hostile ships. No one has any clue about anyone, which makes things easier on us I suppose but I heard a little bird the other day. The Federations is after something big, something beyond the imagination...I want it...
During the search we will be encountering other Planets, Columns, and Bases (Dungeons Hosted by the GM) that can be played by dice roll or strictly ordinary text, imagination. There will be drama, deaths, glory and opportunities. Can you beat the Federation and Covem to the prize, alive?
"You" are on a ship surrounded by thieves, pirates, cold-hearted killers, engineers and more. The ship is ran by a Captain who is just as impure as the rest. Why are you on the ship? Maybe you wanted a share of currency or treasure, maybe just wanted to get somewhere as you sleep with one eye open and for a price. No matter your reasoning, you're there now and your stay does not go unpaid. Better hang on to something, because there is a risk around every corner.
Step carefully, stay quiet and trust no one; maybe you'll survive if the Captain does not have you killed first.

Important Definitions to Assist You in the Game


StarMaps: Sometimes also considered columns, these are your areas to work with or in other words; your dungeon. Additional Areas like a Ship of sorts fast forwards your day, and sometimes does not proceed with the main story; this would be in help to build your own story. You cannot Star Jump with your UAN without GM Approval or until all Players are ready to proceed.

"Lost Jerusalem": The column where Earth use to reside. It is now an empty space with machine parts floating freely, dormant. It is also where the Kabbalah was originally discovered. Danger Level: Moderate
Gnosis are known to be spotted on occasions but very few in between. It is highly advise to watch your surroundings periodically to avoid collision.

Realians: Are a race of inorganic synthetic artificial "bio-robots", almost like a hybrid of human and robot. Their biological structure is nearly identical to humans. A wonder of molecular bioengineering, their biological composition comes in various forms based on need, from carbon based duplicates of real humans to those based on silicon or liquid metal. Human...but never was. Realians can have emotions and possible feel dependent on their code.

UAN: Or Unity Assistant Navigation. A small tool similar to that of a cell phone that allows the user to jump through columns without suffocating and will land them in a UAN Receiver. Battle Ships, Cargo Ships and any other short of spacial vehicle is equipped with something similar. However, transportation is not it's only function. The user is able to personalize the AI as an small animal (Rabbit, Mouse, Bat etc). It can be used to send or receive messages along with gathering material information or historical information.

Cyborgs: Are a beings with both organic and biomechatronic. Their organic replacements are usually due to battlefield conflicts or they donated their bodies to the government when they originally died.

Gnosis: {Click here for Wiki Version: Gnosis } Gnosis are "Alien", mutated, unknown beings who have no other instincts than to kill or be killed. They are attracted to the re-appearance of the Kabbalah and will specifically target those who are in possession of it or any form of emulator/clone. They can sometimes be seen and fooled as an holyfied creature surrounded in light./Please read both Wiki (Even bits of it) and the definition given to help get a better understanding./

Kabbalah: {Click Here for Wiki Version:Kabbalah} The sacred Kabbalah is in the form of a large slate radiating with unknown energies. This slate is said to be as large as a space craft. However any other information than what has been given is unknown. It attracts Gnosis on Mass levels.

Covem and Z-TIC Organization: The darker side of things, the Covem seeks the Kabbalah for their own destructive purposes. It is unknown what or who leads the Covem. Z-TIC is their corresponding military made up of lifeless realians dressed in black. They wear a metal face plate that distorts their identity and corrupts any emotional information they may obtain keeping them at their "Obey" Nature.

Milita and Militian Conflict: The war or conflict that broke out between the humans and realians. History of this conflict has been lost throughout the generations but those who lived through it will never forget it. The time of blood and near extinction. Some would tell you it was the reason why Earth was erased. While the tension between the two can still be unstable, their time of war has come and passed. Milita is now, according to the Federation, nothing more than a myth. However some refuse to believe that.

Xeno Industries: The creators of a majority of the technologies like the UAN and the Mechs. Each sector has it's own purpose and rarely interact with others keeping all their work in the utmost secrecy.

Mecha:Battle or Roaming, Humanoid structured mechanics usually controlled by the Realians for combat purposes. However, it is not uncommon for humans to be using mechas especially the Roaming Models or R Series. Sometimes Mechas have to be stolen to be obtained.
Type of Mechas
C Series

  • C-B1: These series are the first Combat Mechas that were created. They are slow in speed however have high physical resistance due to their bulky shell. The C-B1 Line can only be equipped with fire arms or rockets due to their slow reaction functions. They can travel via space without have to be grounded.
  • C-AG2: Thinner versions, and more joint components allow these series to attack swiftly and accurately. Small fire arms and/or swords can be equipped to them for a fast-paced battle. Unlike the earlier series, the AG2 are prone to taking heavier damage. They can travel via space without having to be grounded.
  • C-AB3.0: The most advanced series on the lot up to this day, they are fast and horrifyingly strong. The AB3.0 series cannot equip any machinery or weaponry other than small blades or what functions are already equipped like "Eco Claws". Each Mecha has their own personalization and equipment making them the hardest mechas to get on the market. These were created specifically when the Gnosis started attacking out in an all out war (almost), they are equipped with an SI Energy Lining to prevent Gnosis from attacking straight through the frame or disabling their functioning. Unlike the other Series, they cannot travel via space and must be grounded at all times. /Ownage Must Be Approved by GM. You will have your own abilities assigned to you to prevent over powered players. They can be animal like or humanoid./


R Series

  • R-001: The most basic and one of the first of R-Series that have not been discontinued. Their main purpose is to guide ships to their next location giving them a "Scouts Eye". They are able to travel via space and be grounded. Their combat capabilities are none unless a sort of engineer was able to add a small machine weapon of sorts. Unfortunately, they are known to be slower than the later series.
  • R-007: Finally, the R-oo7 Line have be successfully equipped with a energetic jet force (Usually located on the back) to allow this line to excel in speed getting to destinations faster. While their combat capabilities are still minimal, their speed aids in getting out of sticky situations. They have average protection against attacks.
  • R-100: Many generations later, the supreme roaming mecha has been created to navigate in the smoothest of ways. It is able to use effective physical attacks and even have a cloaking device to remain unseen or detected. Those who need to be guided to different areas usually find it difficult to afford these roamers. Like the C-AB3.0 Line, the R-100 has a SI Energy Lining in the frame to protect Gnosis from attacking within the unit. However it is unadvised to go against a Gnosis in these units.

Thank you for PM-ing me about this. I was wondering about a few things, one of them being if we'll be able to acquire our own ships later on in the RP, or even earlier. Same goes for mechs and will there be a greater variety of them ? Like other non-PC mechs ?

Regarding mechs, I was wondering, what exactly do you mean by mechs being grounded or not ?

All in all, the premise of the RP certainly interests me, but I was hoping for the Mechs/Spaceships parts to a bit more fleshed out. I mean, we don't even know the details about the ship we're starting on. Is it a cargo ship, combat focused frigate or larger, or even a full sized carrier ?

In the meantime, I'll keep watching to see who else is interested and may even start working on a CS.

I have not posted a lot since it's still being worked on. Though have gotten those things fleshed out in my progress.

1.) Everyone will pretty much be together as they go through the maps, with dice rolls etc. There will be character building and personal development as they travel through a spacecraft together and land in towns. So no, you will not be able to acquire your OWN space craft, though you can acquire your own mecha (As long as your roll succeeds).
2.)The six listed for use are the only ones available for use, but there will be a mass NPC of mechs in the story who are hostile.
3.)Grounded and Non-Grounded are actually quiet simple. You are traveling through space and in space there is nothing beneath your feet. Basically you float/fly/jet etc. Some can only be grounded on a flat surface while others cannot or some can do both.

The spacecraft will probably be a small transport with minimal weaponry attachments. I'm waiting to see how many people would be interested be for I make final details. If there are a number of people, there should be a bigger craft. If it's a few then the average transport should be plenty of room to work with.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. This is an Interest Check and not a finalized plot.

Basic. No god-mod, etc.
It's GM Hosted so I will basically be controlling a lot of what will be going on so there will be no god-mods. Your dice rolls will determine what your next action will be. Say you get a 10d, you have about 4-5 options listed. Depending on what you roll on is what you will be doing on the maps. Anywhere else like in the ship which won't be the map, you can have free roam.
There is a two paragraph minimum unless it calls for one.

Ok but that's not answering what my question is which is: What are the rules/mechanics for the rolling parts.

Like how does the basic roll work.
What dice type.
Rules on char gen, combat, and other stuff

Also is this going to be a glorified CYOA? Because I'd like to know the reasoning behind why'd you have rolls for determining what action to take

There are five maps for story, and three locations for character development. Think of it like this; This is a board game and you are the pieces. Each phase/one post you get a whole list of options followed by a number. Your roll determines your next post.
This is not complicated stuff. You roll for an attack, defense etc.

Reason why I want dice rolls is because I think it would add a 'chance' feel. You make a regular character, have some fun head into a map for some action and begin rolling some dice. Or as I would be doing is shoving it down their throats.
For you...I'll think about it as far as a CYOA. Doubt it will be glorified though...

Can you ask anymore questions? I don't understand what your complications are.

Incorrect usage of complication aside I do have some problems with what you got so far.

However as it is evident you are new to tabletop I'll try my best to be patient and go easy on you.

First off you did not answer my question properly over the basic game mechanics all tabletop roleplaying games have: character creation and conflict resolution.

Then there's the stuff that's nonsensical and misses the point of tabletop. Like your decision to hamper player agency by having them choose from a list of things to roleplay like if they were action in a CYOA book. But then you completely remove any agency by adding a useless roll that does nothing but to further convoluted this needlessly especially since there's "freeroam" areas. So you just arbitrarily have areas where players enter and then roll to see what their character does.

No game and I mean no game does this at all. Sure games have mechanics tied into role playing but save from bad GMing and or design they don't actively impede in your agency as a player.

Secondly the chance element in roll based system in Tabletop systems is not in of itself the reason they're used or played. They're used because the math and chance elements allow for a neutral method of conflict resolution as opposed to freeform where it's more or less fiat. The chance element is byproduct of this and if you simply want a chance element you're better just flipping a coin and deciding results.

Anyway in conclusion this all seems either very half baked and barebones with what you got so far. I suggest you either just go freeform or you use an already existing system like savage worlds which could suit your needs

I'd probably give @Jerkchicken's criticisms a good look-over, so you can improve your system. As it stands, there are some things that the system looks like it needs.
