China still maintains a huge force due to the war along side other nations assimilated forces.

If I lower to three million, other smaller nations must follow suit.

I believe, as it stands that if you were to lower your military to three million, you'd still have the largest military in this world.

@MonkeypantsI think Mihndar already has China.
Also even though it's 2050 we only have slightly futuristic modern weaponry.
No energy weapons or such craze.
Possibly even tank-mounted railguns are stretching it.
Although wait a minute...
@MetalLoverI know I asked technology before but I wonder would you allow vehicles mounting railguns?
If not, would it be acceptable for naval vessels (where the research is currently going on)?
Also how do you feel about large sized vehicle-mounted 1-10MW lasers (used mostly for interception and anti-aircraft purposes).

Railguns are fine, energy weapons are not. Early formed lasers are fine though, which i assume the vehicle mounted ones are.

Avoiding war is an incredibly simple endeavour: have a powerful military, and don't declare war. If two people are wailing on each other with sticks and there's a third guy with an even bigger stick watching them, the third fellow isn't going to be attacked, assuming that either of the first two have an IQ above 70. It would be suicide for either of the warring parties to decide, for no reason other than 'The British Isles are nice this time of year!', to waste their resources on assaulting a non-party to the conflict. This is an incredibly basic idea that should not be difficult for you to understand. As for a nuclear strike: if you had read the OP, you'd know that there weren't any.

1. The pound sterling is already an international reserve currency. It's the third most traded financial denomination after the Euro and the U.S. dollar.

2. Europe was ravaged by war and the United States was ravaged by war so badly that it divided into thirds (or is it fourths?). When countries (or evil empires, in the EU's case) are under extreme duress like that, no one wants to touch their currency with a ten foot pole. That would leave the pound sterling the most likely new international reserve purely by consequence. Factor in that when money leaves one place it has to go somewhere else, and that Britain was a most excellent place for this freed up capital to go, and it seems like it would be a fantastical oddity for the pound sterling to not become the post-war world's reserve.
The problem with this idea is that you still magically aren't interested in one of the greatest wars of all time.
Also you are already part of the NATO and involved with EU.
While mending the latter is hardly difficult the former would be a far different case.
Really, the point of this setting is to have all nations start from relative ruins (even if they are pretty well-off nowadays).
Saying that you were the laughing third while the entire world was slugging it out is rather unfair.

@Iluvatar Would you like to come to an agreement similar to the current real world one in Cyprus? The island will be under Greek control with the exception of the territory of the British military bases on the island.

Tank mounted railguns change things in a big way.
I suppose I'll change my tank profile a tiny bit.
And yes, it's a big solid-state laser system, exactly what the US was developing for a while.
Working on the military bits for now.
I may quickly cook up something for the history, though.

That's silly! There is almost always more to gain from not going to war than from going to war.

While I do agree with this, the thing is, they will still most likely be bitch slapped by the 2 Asian Superpowers. The Caliphate, the GEC, and the Soviet Empire will probably beat them down.

Well, I'm British, and I have to agree with raja. With current isolationist opinion in my country, it wouldn't be a stretch for the UK to abandon most defensive treaties with other nations within a few years, especially if there is a risk of entanglement in a global conflict.

History of the Nation :

Since 2015 most of South America was developing in order to achieve the first world standarts and they was doing well thanks to the creation of trade blocks and Free Trade Agreements with the world powers , in that time there was only two major trade blocks in South America : The CAN and the Mercosur , the CAN was integrated by Peru , Bolivia , Ecuador and Colombia & the Mercosur was integrated by Brazil , Venezuela , Chile , Brazil , Uruguay and Paraguay .The less succesfull of them was the CAN which was only the shadow of the Mercosur.

This situation lasted until 2022 when in Peru a big economic boom followed by a baby boom made the Peru economy stronger than most nations , this happened thanks to foreign investment and new policies applied by a new goverment which wasnt corrupt , but it wasnt until 2030 that Peru could be considered a first world country , for this time Peru was the mayor economic power in South America surpassing Chile , Argentina , Colombia , Venezuela and Brazil together .

In 2030 when the war started most of South America maintained neutral , in this Peru saw a oportunity to supply the world powers in this time of war which only increased even more the economic power of Peru , but to increase its economy Peru made a new economic block called the SAEU (South American Economic Union ) which was very similar to the current European union , Peru made the offer to all south american countries but only Ecuador , Bolivia , Paraguay , Uruguay , Chile and Argentina , joined the SAEU . From that time to 2043 Peru helped the economies of the members of the SAEU and enforced certain rules to mantain the economic balance , but this rules became more intrusive and at 2046 the SAEU almost looked like a total union instead of only a economic union , most of the couldnt even protest because of the Peru military force and Black Ops operations.

In the year 2049 the SAE was formed all the member countries of the SAEU signed a treaty in which they became one country , with this the SAU was formed and with it the world saw a new alliance ruled by Peru and it is one of the big countries in the world scene , even still modernizing some parts of the old nations but the with only Peru it is already a power to be recognized.

I hate being the first to give any military detail. Always sparks tech debates!

Regardless, larger lasers aren't far fetched.

Laser rifles? Nooooo

Railguns? I mean, a big one on a tank wouldn't be far fetched either. Wouldn't be super op like it sounds.

Well, just because many modern militaries have low numbers it doesn't mean you have to be.
They have tiny armies because they don't use it.
Look at the USA, they have millions of soldiers.
In comparison Germany doesn't even have a tenth of this even though their population is around 30-40% of USA.
then look at WW2 when Nazi Germany had almost as many soldiers as the USA during the peak of war, an even before they had more soldiers than the USA currently employs.
It's a matter of necessity.
Post-WW3 atmosphere won't be a kind world so I suppose every decently sized nation can reason a few million soldiers to themselves.

I already said that I am more or less just nitpicking since the only thing that matters is the RP.
And if we are at it, Brits will be also hard-pressed against Neo Hungaria if it would ever come to war.
But oh well, we'll see when it comes to it.
