Welcome to the Koronus Expanse, my Lord.
Welcome one and all, to the interest check for a Warhammer 40k themed rp. The specific focus for this rp will be on the Rogue Traders and other prominent figures that would traverse the Koronus Expanse for the glory of the Emperor! ... Or for their own profits.
'But Leo, what fun is it to play only a human?'
Well, oddly enough, being a Rogue Trader means you can interact with many Xenos and unsavory sorts (where the Imperium is concerned) if deemed to be in the best interest for the Imperium of Man. But it doesn't stop there; you can also play as a crewman aboard a Rogue Trader vessel ranging anywhere from a lowly servitor to a mighty Archmilitant. And if that wasn't reason enough, there are also recorded incidents of Rogue Traders actually taking on alien crew members, so why not be a sanctioned xeno? Or even better, start a campaign with your own ship of a different race all together. Tau, Ork, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Chaos, and many more! (Just no Tyranids please. Will be conserving those for plot devices, quest subjects, lambs to slaughter or to do the slaughtering, etc.)
'But Leo, I don't know anything about Warhammer 40k!'
That's perfectly fine, it's a learning experience for most and a chance to teach for some. Though famously quoted as the 'Grim dark, grim Darkness' you are free to embody whatever character you wish... Just be forewarned, it may not be in your best interest to go around hugging orks... What with the 'Choppa' and all. Rather think of it as a trying time for your character, one that he/she is fighting to overcome. If you can make it in the nearly unexplored Koronus Expanse, you can make it anywhere... Unless you’re in the warp without a Navigator. Then pray to something.
'Blood for the Glood God!'
Skulls for the skull throne, yes, yes we know... Still, on that note- please try to adhere to the actual personalities of the given race/class you play. So if you choose to play an Ork, you're not going to start speaking about quantum mechanics any time soon, or a Lawful good Chaos cultist... I mean even the names conflict. I'm ok with a little 'individual interpretation', but keep it within canon.
'I'm interested, tell me more!'
Well this is just an interest check for the most part. I've been thinking of a slightly larger RP (within the range of 12-15 pcs) with about 4-5 different ships to take effect. Now it will be a narrative campaign, so plot will be dropped based on character actions and pre-established arcs... But come on, it's space travel! You're free to make your own adventures- though wait for the DM(s) to address what you experience at said location.
On the topic of DMs, I understand that this is an ambitious project and depending on the interest, may be impossible to take on alone. So if you want to see this flourish- or just want to add your own flair to the campaign- feel free to contact me about being a CoGm and we'll discuss the possibilities.
'Well see, if you had paid closer attention to the codex that was released in the last update, you'll see-'
... No. No,no,no. I mean thanks for your input, but this is not an opportunity to whip out your Warhammer lore and use it to belittle or badger someone about something they may have misinterpreted or done that was against established canon. Mistakes are mistakes, they happen. As such, if you don't think you can be constructive and provide a constructive contribution, I urge you to look elsewhere.
'What about Space Marines?'
What about them?
'You never said anything about them?'
Well that's because I don't expect everyone that's interested to play an Adeptus Astartes... Or at least I hope they wouldn't. I'll place a limit if it gets to that... But come on! This is your chance to explore the world of Warhammer, not thump the codex as an Ultrasmurf. Granted I do have a soft spot for the Space Wolves... Still, Marines to a minimum, please.
That being said, I thank you for the read. I do plan on introducing character sheets at some point once a decent interest has been established, but feel free to pm me about ideas and suggestions in the mean-time.
