Welcome to the futuristic battle arena, Disco Phantom! A silly name, indeed, but the venue itself is far from silly: In fact, it's quite lethal.
Each and every day, billions of people tune in from all across the solar system, in order to watch what they think is a cast of criminals fight to the death. In truth, the arena does not only employ criminals, but also specially bred and trained fighters, ordinary people, and even mercenaries looking for a quick buck.
You are here, a fighter meant to enter the pits, and hoping to come out alive. Perhaps your origins, skills, and even reasons for being here today are different, but you are all unified by a singular goal:
Survive.
If you fail, you'll die.
If you win, you'll receive more wealth than you can possible imagine.
To win, kill all of the other contestants, or form an alliance of three or fewer contestants that manages to become the last team standing.
Now, it's important to know what kind of things are available to you, to make killing the opposition easier.
Firstly, anything relating to your physical body and mind that you bring into the arena. Maybe you're an augmented human, a psychic, or even a full-on alien! Wow, that sounds pretty crazy! Heck, there might even be some crazier stuff out there that you might encounter. Rumour has it, the arena itself sometimes deploys combat androids disguised as ordinary humans, to stack the odds a little.
Then, you've got your weapons. Now, even if you were a mercenary before you joined up with Disco Phantom, you can't take any equipment into the arena with you. You will, however, receive some special gifts immediately after spawning in the arena, and will be given opportunities to find other gifts while you explore the battlefield! Oh, but you can't choose your gifts, so you'll just have to hope you get given something good. Hmmm...
Finally, the most lovely little tidbit of all: The arena itself! That's right, lead your enemies into traps, use the terrain to your advantage, maybe even let loose a pack of robotic, cyber-dragons to tear your foes in half! Just, try not to stand in front of them when you use them, or you might find yourself being toasted just as hot as the enemy.
Oh, and if you do cool things, maybe you'll be rewarded! No promises, though~
