"You might have been a little harsh with them," A calm, resonant voice said from the other side of the dining hall. Oliver stepped out of the shadows to one side and smiled at Desirae. "If you'll wait here for a second dear, I need to talk to Miss deForest."
Oliver turned back to Violetta, reaching out with his mind instead of talking out loud.
"I'm sure you know how it must be, coming here against your will. All the more for these children, who have been taken from their families and friends. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and cause fewer emotional problems as well."
Speaking out loud again, he brought a clipboard out from under his arm. "Anyway, on to my purpose. Were any of the students seriously hurt in the fall, or show any signs of adverse reactions to the atmosphere?"
