Edoniras , a beautiful continent surrounded by vast seas, with its lands holding bountiful riches. A Empire named the Norian Empire sought to make all of Edoniras its domain, and it conquered vast chunks of Edoniras. Those nations who did not fall under it’s flag saw themselves bowing to the Empire’s many Emperors, and they constantly feared invasion from the massive Empire. However after a while the Empire found it self plagued by overextension, being incapable of defending all of it’s holdings. Corruption, Inflation, and even disease soon followed, and the once mighty empire collapsed. The various Noble Houses seized the opportunity as they carved out chunks of the Empire for their own, and the smaller nations grew, no longer fearing the Empire’s hordes of soldiers.

It has been a few years since the Empire collapsed, and the new nations are now starting to thrive once more. The Powers of the world arise and awaken, seeking to dominate and expand. Guns were invented prior to the Empire’s collapse, but now they are a widespread. You take hold of one of the mighty powers, shall you expand your empire through military force and make yourself feared? Or perhaps you shall take to the seas, conquering through ships rather than through armies. You may prefer however to expand your nation by expanding it’s economy, dominating your enemies through vast wealth and riches. Whatever your choice, a new age has come, intelligence and science is on the rise, and it is time for change. It is time for an Age of Glory.

There is the idea, now for the rules and NS.

Rules:
1. Standard RP rules apply, such as no godmodding, powerplaying, metagaming etc. Guild Rules apply as well.
2. Be nice and respectful, if you have a issue with me or someone else and wish to debate it, do it respectfully.
3.My decisions or the decisions of Co-GMs are FINAL, if you have a issue with them, PM us and attempt to debate it.
4.No arguements in the OOC, if it is related to the RP add me and all persons involved to a PM and I will monitor and I will make a final decision.
5.Do not insult other RPers, even if they insult you. Bring the issue to me or the Guild Mods. We are supposed to be a little happy family of RPers, not people bitching at each other.
6.The Reply Blob is a false god, and shall not be worshipped in these sacred halls.
7.Any orders need to be put into a hider at the bottom of the post, summed up for this. We love reading your posts, but sometimes we do not have the time and need to get the update together as quickly as possible.

Traits:

Traits work like this, you start with 4 points. When you are done with your traits you must have 0 or greater for it to be balanced. You also may only have two +/- traits, and certain traits are marked with a S, these are super-traits. They are taken from normal traits, and have double the effects but double the costs, and you may only have one super trait. There are also super negative traits, which add stability but can severely cripple you in that area. 8-9 traits is probably the maximum if you want to avoid stability concerns(stability being rebellion and the likes)

There's not much else to say, but I am hoping from great things from all of you guys.

Also special thanks @Gowia who if we can get this going will be doing stats for us, and originally came up with the stats and traits for this.

I'm interested; I don't usually like stat-restrictive RPs (They constrict creativity, I find), but I can stomach that for some good old fashioned renaissance action.

The story, seems interesting, but the stats turn me off. I will still be watching though, if I ever decide I want to join.

GDP for a Reineissance era NRP?

GDP is going to be treated as how much each player has to spend ever year.

Actually, I'm going to retract my interest here. All these randomized stats and spendable resources are too gamey for my taste. Best of luck.

That was Gowia's creation, since the original Age of Glory never took off I was more interested in doing Age of Glory.

GDP should probably be "Royal Treasury" or "Crown Income" or something similarly old sounding, given that we seem to be in the early renaissance where things revolved around the monarch still.

We could always drop the stats and see how we do this time. The RP has never really lasted all that long and we've never really gotten to the point where they have brought much to the table aside from being a nuisance to players at the start. Just rehashing the same thing with a new time period isn't going to work, we should probably be changing parts of the formula and trying to find what it is that is causing it to last only a few pages

Its only been lasting a few pages because me and or Gowia running it had other things to do and ended up dropping it, that wont happen this time.

NS
Nations Name: The Valkyrie Empire
Form of Government: Aristocratic Monarchy
Describe the System: In theory, the Empress of the Valkyrie Empire is its absolute ruler. In practice
Location on Map Desired: WIP

Capital: (Please point out where in your land you would like this and your other settlements to be otherwise I will put them all on your borders for easy access of an invading army.)

Important Settlements:
Description: (Describe your nation. Culture, language, currency etc.)

The primary currency of the Empire is

Important Characters:
Empress Sarah Parvadi Calona-Valkyron, ruler of the Valkyrian Empire. A deeply ambitious woman who intends to secure a thousand-year empire for her successors. While her aims are grand, her methods are highly pragmatic as she is willing to "descend" to the level of dealing with the middle merchant class and directly supervise the Army's latest expansion whilst firmly adhering to realpolitik despite having to keep her own ambitious and greedy aristocracy and military in line. The strain of rule is taking its toll however, and her pragmatism is beginning to stray towards paranoia of her own ministers and generals.
"The Courier"- The right-hand agent of the Valkyrian Empress is an enigmatic man who is beholden to noone save the Empress and given a licence to act and kill as needed to fulfill her directives. An exceedingly deadly individual loyal to a increasingly paranoid empress.

Master of the Armies
Minister of Coin

Brigadier Sora Whitehall- An rising star cavalry officer in the ranks of the Valkyrian Army. Noted for his tendency towards radical and unorthodox tactics, as well as accumulating a series of equally colorful subordinates.
Lady Melina Winters-Whitehall. Brigadier Whitehall's wife, and a rising star in political circles to match her husband. Her love is only matched by how ruthless she is in the application of seduction, poison, and her connections among the aristocracy to further both of their ends.

Traits:
Elite Army (S)- The Valkyrian Army is one of the most elite forces in the land with infantry, cavalry, and artillery force that can more than match any rival force. Further backed by advanced tactics and drill formations to maximize use of their muskets, and powerful field cannons and mortars to add firepower to discipline and order.(-6)
Ambitious Generals- The downside to rapid military success is the expectation of even more success. Glory-seeking and rank-ambition is rife among the upper command ranks and many of the line officers. (+1)
Conscription- Various countryside parishes and towns have their taxes waived for manpower levies, in addition to wartime drafts and recruitment of criminals. While no match for the elite standing army, they can assault positions or hold rear-echelon roles to free the Army for other duties. (-1)
Militia- The Valkyrian Empire retains militia forces at its towns and cities, composed of a mix of retired frontline troops, conscripts, and civilian volunteers. While of mixed quality of training, it doesn't take elite troops to stand on a wall and shoot at invaders or crew heavy fortress artillery. (-1)

Scared of Water- The Valkyrian Navy is decidedly the least important arm of the military, often considered little more than a logistical support arm of the Army branches than a force unto itself. As most of the Empire's ambitions are landwards, the navy remains a purely defensive force. (+3)
Rotting Hulls: Likewise, the navy is underfunded and undermanned.... (+2)
Landlubbers: And its sailors mostly press-ganged conscripts with little serious skill and lesser sons of nobility with no prospects otherwise. +1

Trading Hub: The Valkyrian Empire is a source of many luxuries, fine goods, and trade opportunities. Making it a grand trade hub even after the Norian Empire's fall and allowing goods and gold to flow freely into the Empire's coffers.(-3)
Empowered Companies: The infamous "Great Five" trading Houses of Listrata, Metris, Blackwell, Ragnar, and Kolstot have considerable assets and influence within the Valkyrian Empire, with the Empress' blessing towards their trade actions.

Zee-woops. Terminology slippage. Changing that to advanced high-discipline musket tactics and formations.

I think Line-Infantry tactics are still probably common-place, if you want something of pure badness though.

The Swedish Caroleans are pure badass, its worth looking at and adapting as necessary for your army

Line-infantry commonplace, yeah. Just thinking of how to render the Valkyrie Empire's elite army status. Interesting article, think I'll look into that for more options.

Half-thinking I should restate the Valkyrie's elite army status as partly stemming from better logistics and communication instead of just pure martial superiority now that I look at the issue more seriously. Hmm. Lots of tinkering to do. Well, NS is still WIP for a reason.

Going to be looking to start up the IC soon, however as a note Voltus while I am fine with the use of French names and words, I expect all dialogue to be in English, as I rather not have to use Google translate to get through posts.
