Yami killed off the last few with her katana, slowly soaking it with blood. When the last one dropped, she went back to the others pulling the knives out.
"Nice moves," Mason commented. He wiped blood from his weapons. "It's refreshing to meet someone who can fight like a demon instead of a scared kid or an adult who never dealt with violence."
Yami smiled as she washed off her sword too. "No need to be afraid. They are here to stay, might as well kill them off so there is fewer later on." She said sharing her ideas about it.
Mason didn't respond, merely nodding in agreement before searching for food. As suspected, most of it was gone, and other things as well, like knives and frying pans. There were herbs and other items, but not much else. "Damn," he growled.
Yami went into the freezer finding frozen fruit cups they used to eat for breakfast. She smiled. "Hey Mason I found somethings. Come here lets see if they are still good." She said calling him over.
"Most things that have an unbroken seal should still be good," Mason said. Movement on the countertop caught his attention, but it was a rat. And based on the spots, it had been someone's pet before It happened.
Yami smiled as she saw the rat rubbing its back before putting the food into her back pack. "Where else would you like to check?" She asked him looking around more and more.
Mason chewed his lip, thinking. "The Shop room would be obvious," he said. "And I'd be surprised to find any kind of tool left that could be used as a practical weapon... It's your call."
Yami found a map on the school by the back door and looked for the shop class. "Its in the building next to us. I haven't scoped out the area so we will have to be careful." She said showing Mason.
Mason nodded. He peered down his weapon's sight, scanning the rooftops, windows, doorways... anywhere a potential shooter might be hiding. He would have volunteered if Yami hadn't gone first. She was gutsy, and in this world, gutsy could get oneself killed.
Yami smiled at him as she headed to the door. "I will pull it open and you take a look inside. Than we do a sweap together." She said coming up with a plan.
Mason stayed behind Yami, continuing his scan. There weren't any of Them around, save for a few decomposing corpses lacking heads. It was clear so far, but something tickled at the back of Mason's brain.
Yami looked around feeling bad about this suddenly. "Somethings wrong..." She said softly. "I dont know why...but it does." She said looking around more and more.
