The day I was looking around the PC DOS directory and came across a folder called Doom.

Everything changed after that...

The Imperialism was so exciting, especially with the slowly building tension in Europe. The First Franco-Dahomean War kicked off the decade a bit poorly, but the First Italo-Ethiopian War was a riot. The Boer War was a strong end for a strong decade. Of course, we can't forget the Horseless Carriage and the Kinetoscope. Exciting stuff, that.

I was born in 1993, so I was ~7 years old when the 90's ended. Even then, I have very vague tidbits of the 90's, which really sucks since those tidbits are pretty cool.

I remember the music from then, especially the hip-hop and some of the punk stuff, but mostly country music. I remember waking up every morning and going to my entirely-wooden entertainment center where my huge, box TV was and playing the Sega and Nintendo. We played Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, Kid Chameleon, Star Wars Pod Racer, Racing Round the World, and so much other games that - thinking back on - were so damn fun.

I remember some old TV shows, specifically a show about dinosaurs... they were like puppets I think... forgot the name. And another show, a cartoon, about a girl and a clan of folks who was stranded on an island... wish I knew the name.

Damn it. I really wish I was born just a weebit earlier.

I was only alive in the 90s from 97 to the end. Let me tell you, I remember a lot of the tv shows and music from the 90s because they carried over to the 2000s. Wayne's World has to be one of my favorite 90s movies along with Forrest Gump and The Matrix.

Musically, I enjoy a lot of the teen boy bands and I have a soft spot for 90s one-hit wonders. MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Hanson, so many good acts. I do have a soft spot for some rap too. Pac and Biggie are the kings of rap. They share the throne. Haters gonna hate, I like them equally.

One of my favorite rap songs is from this decade. I love Regulate by Nate Dogg and Warren G. It's an iconic rap song that's actually pretty clean considering the other rap music related in the time and even to today.

No Lebowski aside, the 90's was one of the best eras for Chinese Cartoons, what with Eva;

Cowboy Beepboop;

And my favorite anime ever, Twin Peaks;

Also some other things happened, like, the Soviet Union like, fell down, or something?

I remember just playing roller coaster tycoon and failing every scenario, even forest frontiers since I knew jack all about loans and just blew all my money building a horribly designed wooden roller coaster. I also remember going to some day care where I played with duplo. That it was the year 2000 and the world didn't end.

Come to think of it I can't remember a world without computers and am nearing the age of 19.

It's kinda freaky that I can't comprehend a computer-less world despite a world without personal computers being the norm just 30 years ago. It just seems like madness to not be able to look up anything you want at any time. That would mean like, reading books or something.

It makes me realize how narrow my slice of existence in time is. Cold War seems like the distant past to me, yet my parents grew up in that environment. The war on terror begun when I was five and is pretty much just a fact of life to me that there's been a never ending war in the middle east.

Makes me wonder how any children I may have will process a world without augmented reality. I don't think they could.

Um... The Oregon Trail. Think I had a wife or something and she died from a horrible disease... or I killed her for meat. I can't remember.

WRECKX-N-EFFECT cause all I wanna do is zooma zoom zoom zoom and a poom poom. Discovered when I was five. I had lovely parents. I'd link but the urban hip might be too real for some.

Rodent's Revenge. Fun little puzzle game.

The Dark Crystal. Reaching here. 1980's film but I think it deserves to be in my list. Don't remember much except for the fact that I really liked the film as a kid.

EDIT:
The Brave Little Toaster 1987 animated film. I tried talking to my refrigerator after watching this.

What about Roller Coaster Tycoon?! That shit was bomb, even known I was born in 1998 and I didn't play it until I was eight.

I still play this game and it's fun.

We had a Mac in 1998, and the Mac isle at Best Buy was pretty shit back then (this was when Apple was between niches, having lost their steam in the earlier market but just before they rebranded themselves as 'Hip'), so I didn't really get into PC games until 2000 when we got a PC. I didn't get into Rollercoaster Tycoon until I bought it in a bargain bin at Staples in 2003 or so. Despite that, it had aged pretty well. Shit was sweet.
