Gotta catch 'em all.
Quite right. Too bad I have to cheat to get some unobtainable ones, due to being on an emulator, or, them just being unobtainable in the first place.

Well if you're open to the idea, might I suggest catching a Sandshrew for the Lt. Surge gym battle?Sandshrew with Dig was one of the best combos I ever came across in the original Pokemon games.
Overwatch said
of course I'd do that. Make it a sandslash... I always thought sandslash was a badass ground type, but, a tad too wea.
ReonenMiruel said
You've got plenty of other options since this is FireRed... Although to be honest, doing some crazy grinding with the basics was what I always did in this game, so eh. =/
Overwatch said
Yes, but, I'm limited to only the pokemon that fire red has, unless I cheat, so, sandsalsh is a good choice. I usually grind too, though.
ReonenMiruel said
If it were me, I'd rather grind and save up the slots for something better later on [a Nido-something, perhaps? Rhyhorn?]... Sandslash is great in the beginning, but it becomes a paper behemoth once you get to the later stages of the game. =/

That's what I meant about it being a tad weak. It will serve it's purpose, but, it can't be a mainstay.
monstahunta said
But... but Fissure though. ;_;Or Swords Dance + Earthquake/Slash.
ReonenMiruel said
The Nidos or Rhy-whatever have earthquake [which is much better than fissure solely because of the hit rate] and are effective enough without having to use swords dance, so eh. <__<To be honest, any Pokemon that needs power-ups [except in battle tower scenarios] in order to become useful has already lost, for me.

This guy thinks the way I do.

Fair enough. I just always caught anything that looked cool to me, or that I needed for my dex, and half the time never raised anything outside of the starters, Nidokings, Pidgeots, Raichus, Gengars, Gyrados, Electreons, and legendaries. Everything else was cave/gym fodder if I used them at all.Damn it's been a long time since I actually played any Gen I/III pokemon.Good times.
ReonenMiruel said
Same. >: My Sapphire died a while back, and, while my Ruby is still functioning, my daughter erased my save on there... basically drained all the motivation I had to play again. x___e
Overwatch said
I sometimes catch things I need for the dex, or, look cool, but that's usually endgame stuff.

That sucks. =[You know about emulators, right?
ReonenMiruel said
Why thank you, good... sir? Madame?
Overwatch said
Sir. I'm actually using an emulator for this lp. (of course.)
