Years ago, a young man had a dream that people with superpowers would all have a place to support one another. Mason Mitchell adopted the identity of Nightstar and was an up and comer in the superhero community, protecting Century City. Rather than go to college, Mitchell used money he'd been saving to purchase the Timmy's Toy World and Museum T Tower and started the Teen Titans. Over the next few years the roster of heroes changed constantly. Nightstar lived for this superhero life, protecting the innocent from threats normal authorities can't contain, helping new superhumans with controlling their powers, and being an inspiration to thousands. Until one day an old friend returned from the dead. After an alien came planet side and returned the first fallen Titan [Push] back to life, the team dealt with the kinetic nightmare that ensued. The T Tower was destroyed, more Titans fell in battle with the undead former ally, and Nightstar was rocked. Bad enough his friends and teammates were hurt and/or killed, but the mayor of Century City is blaming the property damage in the city on Nightstar and his unappointed protectors rather than the real enemy: the alien. Little did Mason know the Mayor simply wanted attention off of his new alien girlfriend who's photo was recently in the tabloids. The politics didn't matter to the hero and leader of the fallen Titans. Rather than use what money he'd earned through investments to rebuild the T Tower yet again, the now 23 year old hero put the time and resources into building himself a new ship to pilot. Nightstar could barely believe he hadn't already done the sort of thing before. With the remaining members of the Titans joining him, as well as an alien ally or two he'll likely pick up in the stars, Nightstar became something more over the last few weeks away from Earth with his powers growing and attitude changing. Nevertheless he as well as his brothers in arms are Titans.

The Titans were devastated when their dead friend Push was brought back to life in a zombie state by some grey alien. After hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to Century City and the T Tower, the Titans fell on hard times after the zombied Push became dead once more upon the exit of Earth by the alien. Founding members Tron and Wrath died while in battle with the undead adversary. Mayor West blamed the Titans for everything, changing his stance on their involvement in taking down superhuman and/or supernatural/alien threats. He championed the idea of a new green-card system to deal with off-world aliens, probably to take the attention off of his alien girlfriend who recently popped up in the tabloids. Rather than rebuilding the T Tower, after the funerals of his friends, Nightstar reached out to Jack Wilson and his father to create a ship that could manage in space. His plan was simple: find the alien and drag it back to Earth to clear the good names of the Titans.
Finding out that Jack had recently taken up a mask and the identity of Multiple, Nightstar asked if he'd be up for traveling the stars. Along with Needles, after the new ship 'Lucille' was finished, the three of them ventured off into space on the trail of the alien. The energy trail left by the alien's ship was identical to Nightstar's, and the additional exposure to the energy transformed him some time later when he burned through a space suit outside of the ship in a new energy form. Multiple was even able to work some of the extra energy into a rechargeable fuel cell for the ship's engine.
More recently the Titans have picked up a couple of alien misfits in their travels outside of the Milky Way Galaxy. Ty'Sun was a fine addition with a smaller frame giving him an advantage in the Engine Room over Multiple. His War Mech, while odd looking, proved to be more than useful in the field as well. Another alien, known as Basilisk, had once clashed with the Titans back on Earth but respected what they were doing going after the alien to clear their names. It's a big universe, and anybody willing to locate a needle in a haystack could've used the help of a bounty hunter.
Present day...
Mason was in the cargo bay, the two story room was about the size of a basketball court with a tall roof. He was blasting targets made out of Alien Coke bottles [because copyright laws didn't extend outside Earth orbit] with symbols on them of a green alien drinking a Coke. Sadly all of the Alien Coke varieties came in the form of a green liquid as well. Nighstar was killing time shooting bottles, the real problem was the shortage of food. The aliens may eat less, but feeding three adult humans meant going off course and taking on a job or two. Maybe one of Basilisk's contacts would reach out with a bounty. Or maybe there was some alien princess in need of saving...
"We've GOT to land somewhere and get out of this ship for awhile," Mason shouted phasing out of his energy form and touching back down on the ship's floor, "I mean... I love Lucille but we've gotta get some food in us, find a job, and get supplies. Can't find the grey alien if we die of starvation..."
