Also, why the fuck is there a penguin girl?!

She isn't *literally* a penguin girl. She is a girl that, when you look upon her, reminds you of a penguin. The way she walks, her coat, her face... just like Prints said.

Did you ever meet someone who reminds you of an animal instantly? 'Hawkish nose and sharp eyes' - hawk person. 'round face and large moonlike eyes' - manateeeeee friend perhaps. Lol. Anyway, Moirah is like a penguin.

Stupid Question #1

Are there any good Slytherins in the RP?

You will have to get to know some to really find out! It's all a matter of perspective. Is what happened true malice? A simple hazing ritual gone terribly wrong? Prickly first years who don't know their place yet in the world/school? The way information and news spreads through each house. A Griff talking to a Griff who wasn't there will say "JERKS! WTF!" Where a Slythie who wasn't there might hear the story and say "A first year said that about our whole house? That's really mean. Maybe Wade over reacted, we all know he is a hot-head, but that is an awful thing to say about us..."

<Snipped quote by AbysmalDemon>

Doesn't really matter for first years, as we're not allowed broomsticks - so we can't get on the team anyways.

Flying class is coming! Maybe we can have a first year 'little league' or something. Pick up games.

Just curious: Is there an overwhelming interest in playing sooner rather than later?

That's a good point. Our newcomers have done nothing to earn detention yet as far as I know.

<Snipped quote by Eyeris>

And I learned a new word today

ALSO. I learned this word today too! I just finished reading 'The Gunslinger' first book of The Dark Tower series. Very good! They use this word a lot in one chapter. I think part of the fun in playing a writing game is to play with new words and styles.

DETENTION: Everyone in the train car has detention, so that does include Dani.

Layla was late to class. This could get her into detention.

Dan was late for all of school! They could throw him in for good measure! Or you can start trouble as you like.

Who else needs a detention? We can play through one more class if you want to create an incident, or something can go down here at lunch. What do you all think?

I know I'm a little late to the discussion, but I think that the reason that the Slytherins are often portrayed as being nasty is that it's primarily full of rich kids who have been taught that they are better than others because of their heritage and wealth. Due to their upbringing, these kids would probably also have a lot of self-confidence, which makes them more likely to become bullies, especially if they consider those of less pure blood status to be inferior to them. Additionally, the traits that the Slytherins idealize, cunning and ambition, more easily support malevolent intentions than say bravery or good work ethic, which made them easy targets for Voldemort's recruitment plan.

While it certainly seems that the Slytherin house was set up to be an antagonist in the early books, it is important to remember that, as Prints said, that the perspective is of a young boy and his friends who are constantly being antagonized by a group of Slytherins. Towards the end of the series, however, we see that the Slytherins are not primarily evil, especially considering only one Slytherin suggests giving Harry to Voldemort and they join in the Battle for Hogwarts with reinforcements from Hogsmeade.

----

Having no knowledge of the Houses beyond general traits as stated by the Sorting Hat (a fairly neutral source), Dani has no preconceived notions as to the character of people in other Houses or even her own. In fact, despite being a tad upset with Wade and those he had been fighting with for getting her in trouble (she, Pearleane, and Peter had done nothing), she doesn't harbor any resentment towards the other members of the team or the House. She actually has a fairly good opinion of Tim at least for being rational and listening to her suggestion that he try and stop Wade from escalating things.

In other news, I will try and get a post up soon. :D

Definitely! I'd love to have some fliers from the first-year. Perhaps Hogwarts could have overrun the rule entirely, what with HP becoming a first-year seeker? Roze would sure love to be a part of the team - it would increase the animosity between herself and the Slytherin Quidditch team as well. :)

@AbysmalDemon
I'm going to get a post up now, maybe when the three are walking out of the Hall, Wade intercepts them? He'd probably have seen Roze laughing, so he wants tome revenge. Probably wing a curse or something at her (I've got one in mind) - I'll write up my post now, then maybe one of you can write us leaving the hall once our conversation is over?

Love that thought rose! I can see parents complaining "why can't my child be on the team? You let Harry Potter do it his first year is that only because he was famous?"

I haven't gotten detention yet! Although, I have no idea what Ajax's detention would entail.... Probably being accused of acting like a lunatic and shouting "RAINBOWS!!!" in the hallways. But it just could be him late to class.

@MiddleEarthRoze I'm gonna end it with Dan bumping into Wade, and let you, continue it, (as I don't know what spell you want to use, and what you want Wase to say) with Wade making the incantation, and Roze not pulling her wand out fast enough. Then in my post, Dan will have his hand already grasping his wand, when Wade gets 'hostile' and he uses 'Patrificus Totalus' and then 'Everte Statum', smashing Wade into a wall.

Sound good?

Is he breaking under aged magic laws?

I'm going to say that he can attempt the spell, but trying at this stage subverting m something would go wrong. Just like those who tried to use magic in the train fight.

No, his father taught him with sticks and shit. Y'know, to practice, so some of the spells, he could attempt and make first try.

Everte Statum on the other hand, is quite an advanced spell, so I think I'll stick with explelliarmus or something.

I made the other player mess up his spell attempt, so, I want to be fair. We are playing first years on their first day who have no actual spell practice. And there are facing an upper class person who knows that they are doing. Enjoy the fun of awkward beginner blunders!

Maybe Roze and Dan (and Dani? I don't know if she would get into it.) need to work together. Probably the best course of action.
