Preface: I am not a web developer, nor a coder, and I do not know how the current RP Guild is structured/programmed/what have you. As such, I have next to no basis for how feasible any of these suggestions are.

That aside, it occurred to me that the site would probably benefit from a function to hide an individual thread or post, or to block (or ignore) a specific user, thereby automatically hiding all of their posts and threads.

I recall an ignore user function on the old forums, and I figured that applying it to threads as well as posts could only make the function more effective.

Perhaps taking it a step further, as GM thread controls are implemented, a user on the GM's ignore/block list would be automatically unable to post in RP threads that they create. Though this would remove the subtlety of the ignore list, and make it quite clear who is ignoring who (though it tends to be quite so already.)

An "ignore" option should optimally just make users unable to PM, VM or ping you directly. (Basically, it'd be a thing to make a somehow undesired user incapable of annoying you privately. If they start littering threads - and actually littering threads, not politely asking something in a thread you just happened to start -, it'll become a mod problem.)

Could you elaborate on your experiences with this? I don't really understand what you mean.

This, however, is something that Mahz has been working on for quite some time, to my understanding. When the functionality is implemented, GMs should have near-complete authority over their threads; superseded only by site mods, naturally.

Probably because this is a writing forum so let's say you Enter an RP and someone you ignored also enters... How are you going to collab with that person if they aren't able to communicate with you?

For a site like this, Blacklist features aren't really the best of features to use. White listing would be more beneficial.
For example: When someone post in an RP, they can only post in the OOC until they have been accepted into a white list for the IC and Char sections.

It's the difference between rewarding people from doing the right job, and punishing people for not doing the right job. One will breed positivity where as the other will breed negativity within the community.

IIRC, the ignore system on OldGuild showed an ignored post as something like

[IgnoredUser posted - <Show Post>]

thus accounting for instances where an ignored user makes a post where you have to acknowledge them.

This is mostly a feature for the OOC sections, allowing you to filter users that rustle your jimmies. A whitelist system really wouldn't work there. There's also the application of filtering threads in the Interest Check section; not having your options clouded by several low-quality threads drawn up by a single person. Not going to get into specifics for obvious reasons, but that example has been something that I observed on the OldGuild quite a few times.

Mahz is working on much, but giving GM powers mod level isn't something currently on his list. It's very controversial, and therefore is subjugate to more pressing matters.
