Well he did say this about the higher ups:

(Removed Part of Post)

I just wanted to take a moment to say 'thank you' to you all, regardless of what these fools say, I would be honored to fight beside you all in the war. He may have wanted us to be bloodthisty assholes, but if we are to become monsters to fight the monsters, then we loose our humanity. The very humanity we are trying to save.

And this was to ALL the cadets. Kind of a middle finger to the Professor. Romeo was a bit of a wallflower (pun intended) during the pre-fight briefing.

@Lmpkio Great! I'm currently nagging my friends to watch it, but it's not working. They keep saying all anime's bad (except for Dragon Ball and Naruto, for some reason) and even after writing a 5,000 word analysis on the show, they still seem uninterested. In my opinion it's the greatest TV show ever made, which I wouldn't have watched without joining this thread first.

In fact, a month ago I didn't even know what NGE was. Now I can name all seventeen Angels back-to-back. It's pretty scary.

It's an AMAZING show lol, how could they not get interested in it? If anything they can watch the Rebuild series, a bit different from the original NGE, but most of the story is compressed within the first 2 movies (until branching off into something new of its own). Then again, NGE is pretty... weird at times lol. They may not have even get the whole thing due to how complicated it may be. And thats also what makes it one of my most favorite anime shows of all time :P

That IS scary o_o Took me a little longer then that to remember all of those names. :P

Edit: I don't even bother with those shows Dragon Ball and Naruto so much. Wasn't as interested as they are main stream. The only mainstream anime I really watch it Fairy Tail, hence why Im in so many of those RPs

It ISN'T complicated though. It's a coming-of-age story that hides behind Christian metaphors and psycho-babble. It doesn't take a genius to figure it all out. I don't want to blow my own horn, but I'm the same age as Shinji and I could grasp all the concepts it was talking about, even with my limited knowledge.

I often get infatuated with the things that confuse me the most (which is why I can tell you far too much about the Bible) so that's probably why I can't get enough of NGE. I still to this day have no idea how Anno managed to create such a masterpiece by simply "slipping on a banana peel" as I like to say, given how his justification for many of the themes in the show is "it was cool".

If I were to name all of the Angels, I would say . . .

Adam, Lilith, Sachiel, Shamshel, Ramiel, Gaghiel, Sandalphon, Israfel, Matariel, Iruel, Leliel, Bardiel, Zeruel, Arael, Armisael and Tabris.
Those are sixteen and I'm missing one, but I'm stumped. Turns out I don't know all of them.

True all the way. I understand it completely as well. I just hear from reviews from other critics that it can be. That's their thing though. And yes, I began watching the show last year, along with the Rebuilds, when I too was 14 :P. Yes, I am going into 16 this Saturday.

Well... Anno was pretty depressed back when he was making the whole show. I guess THAT somehow made him able to create such a magnificent Anime, slightly based on what he was going through. But we may never know... and now he's working on a new JAPANESE Godzilla movie for next year, which I'm REALLY HYPERACTIVELY hyped about!

Your missing what is perhaps the biggest angel in Evangelion history.

I should've known it was Sahaquiel! Funny how the one I forgot was in fact the largest.

It seems a strange twist of fate that I managed to finish the show on its twentieth anniversary, the exact year the show starts and being the same age as the main character. NGE is something I can't imagine anyone dying without watching, at least someone born in the last two decades.

I just hope that Hideaki Anno can finish that Godzilla film in this lifetime and MAYBE, we can get the English dub of Rebuild Q.

The fourth and final rebuild film, if it EVER gets made, will either be a massive let down or something so mind blowing it will cause international genocide on peoples' minds. Although I doubt it can come close to EoE, which made me rethink my entire life. There are many things I want to see in this world, and one of them would be something better than EoE. Don't know if it's possible, but I've got quite a long life ahead of me! :P

EDIT: Maybe we should lay off the NGE boot-licking in the OOC, I don't know if @Ariamis will be pleased.

"It's moving faster then they have predicted! There's no way I'm going to make it in time! - Asuka: Evangelion 2.0 Lol

I'm surprised there's no massive Angels and Cyborgs fighting around... makes me saaaaaad. :(

It'll be finished in 2016. Already the script has been made and they are making it as we speak. A film like that WILL be done. We should be able to get a dub of 3.0 soon, considering the first 2 have been dubbed.

The fourth one is COMING. It's been said/rumored that it will come up in Christmas, 'as Utada Hikaru was working on a song that is set to be out on winter for the said movie.' So it has NOT been abandoned. Further more, Evangelion merch has been promoted in the Monster Hunter Frontier games, with armor of Eva-00, Eva-01 and weapons of such. Even the plugsuits were added in! So I think this will be something lol. I have a feeling that it may be good.

I honestly don't mind it. Funnily enough I watched NGE only this summer for the first time, and only as an afterthought to wondering why my brother raved about it years back. It was an influential piece that spawned many copycats for a reason.

For something mind-blowing and subversive that I actually like more I would recommend PMMM; yes it's about magical girls, but don't let the genre fool you into thinking it's bland and boring. It is most often compared to NGE due to the similarities in the way it subverts expectations and includes symbolism, Faust being a major example, and Nutcracker in the sequel movie.

Infulential indeed.

Madoka Magica huh? Funny, a friend of mine is wanting me to watch that and has actually compared it to NGE. I've been trying to find time to watch it.

If you find the lack of time to be a problem to watching the series (which is 12 episodes, so not that bad), there's also a pair of movies that recap the series. They were released in anticipation of the sequel movie, Rebellion, which I can honestly say is the closest an anime movie has been to End of Evangelion this decade in terms of symbolism and art direction.

I bloody well hope it's made soon enough. Although the opportunity of it being made on the twentieth anniversary of the franchise being missed is disappointing, I'm sure Anno will make it up with something extraordinary. Q was just Shinji shouting KAAWOWOARU-KUN again and again, but I don't blame him for being upset. Q really was a divergence but we could see something greater come out of it. I recently read "Reticence", a fan fiction which expounds on where Q left off and is literally 4.0 in writing. It was fantastic, but I doubt Anno would do what the fans will predict him to do.

As for PMMM, I just looked it up and I already feel ill. Just for you, @Ariamis, I'll watch it.

EDIT: Just watched the first episode and it looks like otaku rubbish. Magical girls? A talking cat-dog thing? Why are everyone's skirt's so short? What was the point in that new costume? Why is everyone 12 years old!?

Try to watch it to the end of episode 3 before deciding on whether to continue it or not, since the first 2 mislead on the actual content.
I admit the art style can be an acquired taste, but it is deliberately that way to be deceptive. The writer Gen Urobuchi (Saya no Uta, Fate/Zero) in fact lied about the show being regular, innocent fare.

As for your questions:
1, Yes it's the genre.
2, It's not specified what kind of animal Kyubey is when it's introduced, but it's revealed later.
3, That's standard for cute seinen, and actually one of the only fanservicey-things about the show, considering it's a seinen starring cute girls. 4, What costume do you mean? If it's the one Homura wears at the end, it's because she's actively using her powers at that point.
5, They are in middle school, and are confirmed to be aged 14-15.

Right! Episode 2 is done and, mother of mercy, my suspension of disbelief is next to nothing. Those skirts, those GUNS, the Witch, and the art style is bugging me and the characters aren't very compelling at this point. Except for that mystery girl, who is probably Madoka's mum from back in time (spooky).

I have a few more questions, but I'm sure they'll be answered as the episodes go on.
