The Accomplished

A call for the Heroes and Legends that still walk the Earth

Initially, people convinced themselves that this was just an exceptionally cold year. Rather than remaining for only a single month, the snow had stayed for three. Still, this must have happened before. There would be food shortages, but most people should survive. The blizzards were more of an annoyance than anything.

The tropical regions that were still able to grow food increased their prices dramatically, taking advantage of the decreased supply in the market. While the lower nobility were suffering, the peasants were hungry.

However, when three months turned into five and crops could not be sown during any of the months that normally occupy spring, riots began. Rumors of invasion from the Northern Kings into the Southern Lands were starting to spread. These rumors were false. There was no possible way a feudal monarch could afford to launch an invasion and at the same time keep the growing rebellions in their own lands down. The grain of truth was that those cultures who were used to movement had started planning to move south, Cheifs and Khans alike starting to head to greener pastures with destruction in their wake.

Six months in, a letter was sent to all the sovereigns and nobles of the continent. Three great powers had unleashed a combination of divine might and genius magic to place the world under their control. While previously rivals, they had constructed plans to work together the decade before. Additionally, they also agreed to offer demands that were 'reasonable' so that there was a chance that the demands would actually be accepted with minimal resistance. This was done to ensure the possibility of people rebelling in their favor.

Hibernas, Dragon God of Ice
Guildamarch, Amour of a Thousand Winters
Nixla, Witch of Endless Snow

Their demands to lift the spell were as follows:
-1 Percent of fit men and women to be gifted as slaves each year.
-Expansion of personal territory.
-A Tithe as a gift to their new overlords.
-Hostages from every royal family to be kept as assurance of their new subjects loyalty.

Facing growing rebellion, a month later the monarchs of the world begged the heroes and legends that still walked the earth to answer their call for aid. Unable to afford any major offensive operation, this group would be their only chance at removing this problem and avoiding this settlement. Hopefully the accomplished would be able to finish one more task.

Just so it's clear, my Alchemist will need to make substantial preparations in order to stock himself up on materials, like a wizard might do. He would also have an expert knowledge of swordsmanship to supplement any lapses in preparation.

How powerful are our characters to be? A wizard in Pathfinder can create entire pocket dimensions and stop time in short bursts. I want to know exactly HOW overpowered we're allowed to be.

In the last thread, the only specification on power level was: "Not Gods." Someone was thinking of being the progenitor of Vampirism. :)

Edit: Here's the post by @RabidAnubis with info needed for character building:
So the poll results:
1. Dwarves, Elves, Angels, Vampires, ect. hop along! You're already overpowered by any conventional standard so limitations are pretty low. Just don't be a literal god.
2. Magic is normally considered rare, granted to maybe 1 in a thousand among the humans in a typical area. Of Course, there will be one or two academy cities. I already have an idea for balancing this against "might", so magic won't be 'overpowered' by our parties standards.

@Everyone- I'm going to assume a lot of you have an idea of the sort of character you want, and I don't feel like constructing a lot of lore to only have a fifteenth of it be used. So if you can give a short description of your character like - HUMAN FIRE DRAGON RIDER LORD - it would be greatly appreciated. If you already wanna build/modify a Character Sheet go ahead - we're in the advanced section, I trust you guys know the gist. Just make sure your bio is what the world would know about you. If you see a spot in someone else's CS that you'd like to throw yourself in, be reasonable about it but I encourage you to. If your history and the world's knowledge are completely off, then send me a PM with your 'true' history

@Hunter of Dreams@gloriousinfamyI understand your query. At this point, most of our heroes would have a small retinue of loyal troops (5-30) they could call up and possibly an apprentice. Our guys certainly aren't going to have intentions of roughing it and will probably do what lords historically did and bring along pavilions and shit. Of course, more ranger esque heroes may choose to rough it anyways.

If you are willing to dual character, so long as your apprentice/mount/member belonged to another character I'd be up for it. If you aren't willing to, I'll have to wait and see how many CSs come in. However, if you are not used to the advanced standard of roleplay, then I advise you do not dual character. I'm also okay if that apprentice is related to your character however.

@Dead CruiserA dark lord would be somebody in this party to start with. So would necromancers, demons, and anyone else who doesn't want the world to become an icy wasteland. One of this themes of this RP is dealing with past conflict. How can you team up with someone who has killed your family? The only reason why our party is together is because these threats are on the level of Minor Gods.

@RabidAnubis I will get my character sheet done tomorrow. I'm still looking through races... but it's either going to be a wizard or a bard.

Working on my CS, hope to have at least a partial posted soon. If anyone would like to add some ties to other characters I'd be open to collaborating.

My internet is acting weird, so If I can't post later I apologize. However, I'm responding to everything that is up right now.

@McHaggis Accepted! That's a very good character there! Post in the CS section!
@The New Yorker Accepted! Post in the CS section! Also, some very interesting gear.
@ancient dragon A fairly good character, and although her career is fruitful she is too young to fall into this roleplay. However, I did like how you kept mindful of the plot with your character's retinue. Consider increasing her age a bit. Also, she is a bit too similar to Fyldren. Can you think of some differences between you two?
@gloriousinfamy Thanks for the help, and I'll be glad to see it!
@SPAssemble Your character should be famous or legendary, but not a minor god. You should be in the top 10 of your class worldwide. Just keep in mind that these creatures we are going against ARE minor gods. I've played some D&D but I've never reached the late game.

For example, Fyldren is considered to be powerful enough. Personally leading a small army out of captivity, winning against unbelievable odds. Doctor Facsimile can become (if he combines his abilities) a giant made of stone or he can walk into a dwarvern fortress and become a giant inside of it.

Let's Say the powerscale/reputation is...

Mythic - You are the best in your class to ever appear on the continent, although you probably aren't put on the list because they want to avoid ranking an actual god. Peasants and kings may worship you, sorcerers call upon your power from another plane of existence long after your death, and the educated on other continents study you as an example. The only real difference between this and being a minor god is that a minor god is immortal where time concerns and slightly more powerful, although with enough power...
Legendary- You are the best in your class for a millennium. You would show up in a general history textbook, and are sung in songs throughout the world. Even the most illiterate peasant would probably know who you were. A large army would consider fighting you to be a serious challenge.
Grandmaster - You are one of the best in your class in the world. The peasantry from the lands you influenced the most would know about you, and the educated from other lands certainly would. Very few mortals would contemplate challenging you. A kingdom might consider you it's champion. Someone has probably given you a theme song.
Famous - You are one of the best in your class. Anyone interested in your profession would know who you were, and you are probably renown in the kingdom you reside in. While not the champion of your kingdom, you are on the hotline if anything goes wrong.

I would consider all the characters submitted to fall into the grandmaster category. I would be okay with going up to the legendary category.

@RabidAnubis I have updated her age to much older. I am considering Kyris as an ex-military, long term pacifist, which I figured might be an interesting position to make someone to have to come out of retirement from. Reading Fyldren's bio, I think our two characters, while coming from similar initial backgrounds, might have quite a bit of controversy at this point in our lives. If I understand correct, (if I am making things up about your character, McHaggis, correct me) Flydren still supports the use of animals in war, and fighting in general.

(They may have even fought together and Flydren may have been one of the warriors whose companion the guild reclaimed, or tried to, just as a possible thought.)

If this still doesn't work, I have a few other character ideas I can start working on.
