Name of Race:
-- Zargonians or Zargans (Reptilians, Saurian): these 12ft tall beasts bare a slightly humanoid resemblance but slightly hunched over and bulky with natural muscle-mass (almost like a dinosaur =3 ), they stand on two 5ft long digitigrade legs that almost reach 6ft when fully extended with three clawed toe's at the end of each foot, they have long powerful tails that are about 10ft long, from head to tail they are about 18ft long, they have two arms, that are close to 5ft long, they're hands resemble human hands but each only three fingers and a thumb on each hand with claws on the end, their heads almost resemble that of a tyrannosauruses-rex but without the overbite, their sharp knife like teeth almost lock together like a puzzle when their mouth is closed, their tough reptilian hide has scales that are a light golden brown color, they also have a row of spikes going from the tip of their snout, down their spine to the tip of their tail, they also have an incredible sense of smell and have natural night vision and good hearing

(I found a picture that closely resembles them =3 they basically look like but without the fin on their back, or the blue skin tone, and they wear more clothing then that, where as soldiers and guards wear armor =3 )

-- Royal Zargonian Empire (RZE) Theme: Indestructible


Name of Homeworld:
-- Zargonia: a desert planet that's three times the size of Earth, it has three moons and orbits a binary star system, both stars are the same size as each other and are yellow like Earths sun, but their slightly bigger, with five other planets in the solar system, Zargonia has two small pole continents both covered with Ice, a super continent at the equator that's mostly desert that take's up almost two thirds of the planets surface, but the part's of the continent near the poles are more tropical and covered with plant life, there are three other continents, two of which are close to the super continent but are near the north pole so their mostly covered in plant life and partially snow, the last continent is at the other side of the planet, it's also at the equator and it's less then a fourth in size compared to the super continent, but it's extremely hostile due to dangerous wildlife (I won't even get into details of them, there's a lot, XD )

Stat Placement:
-- Toughness 5: Zargan's are incredible strong, determined and durable, they heal quickly from small injury's but if one was to break their arm, it would take them less then two weeks for it to fully heal, they evolved that way, they had to, the hostile nature of their homeworld demanded it, otherwise they would have gone extinct long ago, their scaly hide hardened to protect them from the heat of the suns and scorching desert's and sand storms as well as defend them from the dangerous creatures that also live on their planet, they fight with ferocious savagery and tenacity, both with weapons, technology and with their claws and teeth, if they have to they'll rip their enemy limb from limb to secure a win, and they wouldn't be bothered by it

-- Reproduction: 2: a single Zargan female can lay up to 10 eggs after mating which take up to 7 to 8 months to hatch, when they reach 15 years of age they are able to take care of themselves and reproduce, it takes about 20 years for them to reach their fully grown stage, but they can live up to 700 years if they're lucky, their species has managed to live over 600,000 years on the hostile world of Zargonia

-- Industry: 1: overtime they've built mega cities on their planet to protect them from the hostile creatures of the planet, but even then their not safe, so every now and then they might lose a city or parts of them, but they manage to take it back, but it slowed the progress of industry for the Zargans, making their technological evolution very slow

-- Psyche: 1: Zargan's aren't the smartest when it come to thinking out of the box, they learn through trail and error, they might have a large brain but most of it isn't for smarts, but over time, they've learned from they're mistakes, and began to think outside the box, but they're great tacticians, over the course of their history through battles against the hostile creatures of their homeworld as well as them selves, they've become masters of battle and warfare

-- Morale: 1: living on Zargonia is tough, but the Zargan's deal with adversity easily, despite the hard times they've gone through they've always managed to bounce back and rise to the challenge, for them, it's ether they fight, or they die

Brief Planetary History:
-- 600,000 B.C.E: (before common era, like the technology we have today =3 ) first Zargan's appear and start to spread across the super continent.

in 550,000 B.C.E: the Zargan's begin to gain intelligence, the ability to use their mind to analyze, create, deduce, and formulate, allowing them to communicate effectively, they start to grow in number and form tribes, and hunt in large packs.

520,000 B.C.E: Zargan's begin making weapons to help them hunt and fight against hostile creatures and tools to help them build shelter from harsh environment instead of hiding in caves.

430,000 B.C.E: Zargan's have made small town's and villages to take refuge in and live, farms are made to support growing population, half of the hunters become guards to protect civilians while hunters are out hunting, written language is created.

390,000 B.C.E: iron age has begun, armor is now made to protect guards and hunters, metal weapons are made to make combat against hostile creatures safer, metal constructs are made, they help make stone walls instead of wooden walls around their towns/villages/cities, mine's are created to supply weapons, armor and structures, currency is made for trade and equivalence, star charts are mapped as well as the planet, the Royal Zargonian Empire begins.

354,000 B.C.E: Zargan's discover gun power, this leads to explosives which helps mining, and eventually projectile based weapons (mounted cannons)

321,000 B.C.E: hand held cannons (guns =3 ) are invented, this leads to better security and safety for cities/villages/towns but bladed weapons are still preferred.

285,000 B.C.E: industrial age has begun, steam powered technology is invented, town's and villages that are to far out from main capitols feel neglected, they band together as rebels and the first war against the R.Z.E begins but ends quickly, rebels are outnumbered and outgunned.

264,000 B.C.E: vehicles are invented, making trades easier and faster, weapons are improved as well as armor, magazine's are made so weapons don't have to be reloaded after one shot, armor is reinforced for better protection, swords are made sharper and stronger, cities are better protected from the hostile environment, bombs have improved, and grenades are made from them, electricity is discovered, city defenses are now include electric barbed wire on top of city walls

254,000 B.C.E: second war against R.Z.E begins, rebel's are better equipped then last time but still pose no real threat

253,890 B.C.E: R.Z.E make armored war vehicles, which are used to drive rebels back, rebels retreat and go into hiding

253,834 B.C.E: first flying vehicles are made, radio waves discovered, combustion engines invented, civilisation improves, automatic weapons are invented

253,345 B.C.E: large rebel army surprise attack's R.Z.E's main capital causing devastating damage, R.Z.E declares war of rebel faction

252,458 B.C.E: R.Z.E finally wins 887 year war against rebels though some still remain, but hidden, technology has improved greatly over the war, they now have plasma based weapons, but they mix them with projectile based weapon for both have their uses as well as bladed weapons

252,421 B.C.E: Zargan's lower their weapons and look to the stars above them, then the space race begins

252,402 B.C,E: first rocket model is made and launched, the attempt to get to space fails, but in doing so they invent jets

252,387 B.C.E: new prototype rocket is made and tested but ends in disaster

252,363 B.C.E: another prototype has been made and tested multiple times before attempting to leave atmosphere, new rocket model is successful, Zargans's have made it to space, but rocket is stuck in orbit, for they didn't think on how they would get back down, and tragedy hit when the flames of the rocket are seen as they land on farmland, destroying it

252,303 B.C.E: newest rocket model has been made, and tested, Zargan's successfully get back into space, and are able to get back down to Zargonia without burning up

251,343 B.C.E: Zargan's land on all three of their moons and begin looking beyond their home to the rest of their solar system

250,234 B.C.E: Zargan Civilization has advanced, mega cities are starting to form from capitals cities, sky scrapers and underground cities are flourishing, and they have made it to the closest planet in their solar system, getting to space isn't as risky as it was before, but it still takes time, weapons have advanced as well as armor and vehicles

250,000 B.C.E: new intelligent species appears on Zargonia on extremely hostile continent, it goes unnoticed

249,978 B.C.E: rumors begin spreading about strange sightings of Insectoids near the coastal area's of the super continent

249,950 B.C.E: R.Z.E gather's it's military force and decides to explore the hostile continent, first contact with another intelligent species is made, both species have a disliking for each other for both believe that they are the rightful owner of the planet, and another war begins when the other species throws the first punch, the R.Z.E forces engage them and seem to have an easy victory for their superior technological might and numbers and well as brute strength, but the other species merely retreated to underground cities hidden from sight,

235,000 B.C.E: war continues to rage on, Zargan's have made flamethrowers to combat the other species, the other species have dug in deep and are using guerrilla warfare to combat the Zargans, since the beginning of this war the other species has advanced greatly in technology, considering how long they've been around, they have managed to make automatic magazine fed projectile based weaponry and explosive devices, their knowledge of technology seems to increase rapidly

233,000 B.C.E: both sides of the war grow tired of fighting each other and the fighting slowly dies down, then the leader of the R.Z.E the King, takes it upon himself to try and make peace between both of their kind, or some kind of agreement, when the king arrives at the ravaged hostile continent they are surrounded by the other species, but nether side attack, then the discovery that the other species can communicate with their minds happens when the leader of there kind reveals itself, negotiations are made between them, and the other species designates themselves as the Sas-Zak, which overtime have been accepted into Zargan culture and have been welcomed into their cities, the damage from the war is then repaired over time

220,000 B.C.E: with the combined effort from Zargan's and Sas-Zak space travel is made easy with new engines that are a lot more effective then previous models, vtols are invented as well as mecha tanks to help defend against larger wildlife as well as upgrade their armor and weapons, space warships are made in precaution of possible rising rebellion threat

150,000 B.C.E: with a large fleet in the sky's of Zargonia and planetary guns being built to shoot down possible enemy ships, as well as possible meteors that would cause devastating damage to the planet, the rebel attack didn't happen, for a while at least, but they did eventually, and they were thwarted before they were able to pick up speed

100,000 B.C.E: the R.Z.E were able to colonize two planets in their solar system by terraforming them, but the other two planets environments are to hostile and are strip-mined for resources which helped them build up their planets civilizations and their fleets

500 B.C.E: Zargan's look past their solar system and beyond wondering what else is out there, and the Sas-Zak offer their help to find out with them, prototype designs are planned out for faster then light speed drives for fleets engines

200 B.C.E: first prototype light speed engine is tested and ends in total failure as the test ship goes to activate it's light speed engine it explodes as it goes to jump making debris fly arcoss the solar system and slamming into a one of the strip-mined planets at light speed causing massive damage to the surface, good thing it wasn't colonized...

50 B.C.E: redesigned light speed drive added to test ship engine, test was successful, R.Z.E test ship was able to jump from one side of the solar system to the other and back without any problems, with further testing they deem it safe to add light speed drives on all R.Z.E ships

Current Era: preparations to plan a jump to the nearest star system are being made

Name of Subject Race:
-- Sas-Zak (Insectoids) These bug's stand just under 6ft tall and also bare a slightly humanoid resemblance, they stand on two legs that are similar to human legs, but covered with an exoskeleton, on the front of the leg and shin they have jagged spikes that point downward, this is also apparent on the outside of their arms, which helps them climb on almost any surface as well as have pincer like feet that help them keep their grip on multiple surfaces, they have what appear to be very short tails attached to their shell like abdomen (which is almost a smooth triangular shape), but it's actually a stinger with a volatile poison which could paralyze most creatures on Zargonia, excluding most of the larger creatures on the planet, their thorax (which is almost an egg like shape) is like a shell to which four arms and four wings are attached to, it's larger then the abdomen and they're connected by softer segmented shell plates that connects under the shells, this is also apparent for the head, they have four arm's two on each side of their body, the two arms above the other two are slightly bigger then the one's below, they have three fingers on each hand that seem to be pointy at the ends, they also have four wings on their back that fold inward towards each other because they cant be folded against their backs, the two wings above are bigger then the two below, their wings almost resemble that of dragonfly's but the top of the wings are as hard as their exoskeleton, the two top wings are about 4ft long, the lowers ones are 3,5ft long which they can fly with, and they fast when in the air, they're head's are somewhat of a triangle shape, they have five eye's, two on each side of they're face, and one in the middle, on the top of their head, the two eye's behind the first two eye's see in night vision which helps then see under ground, the two eye's near the front of their head see normally for when their on the surface during the day, and the one in the middle see's in infrared, they have an under bite as their razor sharp lower teeth can be seen protruding our from their mouth (is you can imagine it, it's like an upside down T-rex mouth but more strait then curvy =3 ) protruding out the back of their head are three crest like horns, the largest is in the middle, it's about a foot and a half long, the two to the sides of it are about half a foot long, their shells are mostly dark colors to help then stay hidden from dangerous creatures, but when they aren't in danger they do have bioluminescence as a way to communicate, as well as multiple clicking, chattering sounds, but one thing that they evolved to have was Telepathy, which helps them communicate amongst themselves, and some of the creatures on Zargonia, which has helped them survive

-- Toughness 2: Sas-Zak have a hard exoskeleton which is almost bullet resistant they evolved that way due to the planet's harsh environment, their hard exoskeletons protect them from the heat at the surface, as well as hostile creatures, they also have natural strength to help them tunnel underground and lift heavy rocks around, there somewhat savage when they fight, but there's also planning in it, they fight smart because they aren't the strongest being's where they live

-- Reproduction: 1: a single Sas-Zak female can lay up to 5 egg's after mating which take up to two too three months to hatch, when they reach about 7 to 8 years of age they are able to reproduce, it takes close to 12 years for them to reach their fully grown stage, they can live up to 70 years if their lucky, they're species is relatively new to Zargonia, they've only been around for 250,000 years

-- Industry: 3: Sas-Zak are fairly primitive, but there are incredibly resourceful and creative, they have a whole civilisation living underground, and above, even though they're primitive, they've advance fast for their time on Zargonia, they work hard, they work together, and they get the job done

-- Psyche: 3: Sas-Zak are extremely intelligent, they've built contraptions to help them hunt, to farm, to live, they also learn from their mistakes but don't often make them, overtime they learned that fighting each other would get them nowhere so they all worked together, almost like a hive mind

-- Morale: 1: Sas-Zak tend to take adversity hard, since their relatively new to the planet their not used to living on it, it's hard on them, but with their intelligence and teamwork they manage to keep themselves together

oh, something just popped into mind, we have mammals, reptiles, insects and machines for the evolution list of species we can be, but when I played through mass effect, their was another type of species, plants, would it have been possible for plant life to evolve to become intelligent/sentient as well? =3

I'm just trying not to think too hard about the species templates. The idea that alien life would rigidly fit into the predefined characteristics of Earth life and share unique adaptations within those characteristics is silly.

Have to make a few changes though as not all was retrieved but the opportunity to flesh out how they began their space adventures is going to be awesome as history is usually been lost over time, originally they got to a very large and advanced level so to go back to this and learn stat based stuff in one go is to much of an opportunity to pass up.

We really need to have this whole stat placement thing standardized. My nation has 3 in repro and can have kids slower than a human mother who legitimately attempts to have children constantly, while another has 2 in repro and is popping out offspring faster than rabbits.

yeah, I made some edits to it, I thought that with insectiods they'd reproduce quickly like bugs do on earth, there are some x-factors there so I made it that they can only mate once, that might even it out =3 .... as for the reptiles well from what I was able to gather from the internet about how most reptiles reproduce I tried to make a guess as to how it would work with a humanoid reptile..... I also added in a survival rate for them =3

Sorry but I was in the interest check and I was just wondering if I was still allowed to post up my race. Sorry didn't do it sooner but the majority of the time the occ has been up I've at work or asleep and the little time I had went into making my race. Also I don't like putting up unfinished work so that the reason I didn't put up the finished sheet.

I'd say try not to get specific. The numbers are there as a general guide, and by the looks of it "average" is a 2-3 (which we can helpfully assume is loosely analogous with humans). A reproduction 1 species either reproduces extremely slowly, in very low numbers, or has a massive infant death rate. Meanwhile, a maximum score of 6 would probably be something rather Von Neumann-like. An "average high" score of 4-5 fits with something like ants, where massive numbers of young are born constantly and raised to maturity.

Reviewed the Empire of Aurolius and it was accepted and info sent. I'll edit this as I review/accept/critique further applications.

Just to reiterate some basic facts:
-- Your people have explored their solar systems through the decades that space travel has existed.
-- Your civilization is unaware of all other civilizations.
-- Some of you will have other planets that can be inhabited in your system, others will have to make a jump to FTL and see what lies on the other side.
-- While your civilization has identified other solar systems and can functionally jump to them, they would not be aware of any other civilizations.
-- A map will be generated but not until at least 2 civilizations make contact with each other.
