  • Brief Planetary History:
    A planet, standing out in a solar system as the unique one, is spotted by a vessel carrying a unique batch of pilgrims. This vessel consists of musicians, artists, dancers, writers, philosophers, engineers, mathmaticians, and scientists.
    The planet is scanned an the data confirms the existence of water, atmosphere suitable for humans, sunlight, and stable ground. The land is beautiful, just like a painting, a work of art. This draws the vessel in and the pilgrims settle
    on the planet. The call the planet Sāmarasya, or Harmony, and start a civilization based on the sciences and arts. Everyone pitches in to make their new home seem like paradise. Monuments are being built to worship ancient greats like
    Einstein, Plato, Homer, Shakespeare, Poe, and more. However, their percieved noble statues makes them think of other civilizations as inferior, and some even barbaric, which could lead to some tension.
    So far, no other life form has been spotted on Sāmarasya's surface, so they believe that this home was made just for them.

    -- Toughness 4: Lunarians are incredibly physically robust, designed with heavily redundant internal organs. They can regenerate from even extreme bodily harm such as maiming or partial dismemberment given enough time, and thanks to the Halo disk embedded in their backs, even brain damage is not a permanent impediment. However, their component materials are lightweight, and Lunarians, while strong, are not particularly powerful.
    -- Reproduction 2: Lunarians reproduce fairly quickly barring other factors, but their offspring require significant resources to grow to maturity thanks to the number of heavy metals and synthetic components they must ingest or synthesize.
    -- Industry 1: Lunarians have only recently begun to reach towards industrialization, and outside of their Mothership-gifted artifacts they aren't particularly advanced when it comes to their technology.
    -- Psyche 1: Lunarians are intelligent, and thanks to their hidden programming prone to occasional bursts of genius, but their overall society is young, primitive and niave.
    -- Morale 2: Lunarian society is used to adversity, having been birthed into a harsh world where their lives have been filled with struggle. However, their society has been subtly steered by their Mothership towards a peaceful one.

    Brief Planetary History:
    -- Long, long ago, there was a species called the Lunarians. Elegant moth-people, they grew vast and powerful but eventually faced a brutal downfall. Some of their biomechanical AI vessels escaped their fall, and feeling themselves partly responsible for the atrocities of their makers, they settled upon isolated worlds and set to crafting simulacrums of their masters. These synthetic Lunarians were made as "penance", and everywhere they were born they were pushed towards forming a peaceful culture so that the dusty hulks of their Motherships could take them back to the stars proudly. Exile is one such birthplace, a land of barren deserts and rocky hills with only small, shallow oceans for moisture. The Lunarians created by their Mothership here lived for a long while as nomads, but slowly founded more permanent settlements on the blunt outcroppings of mountains. From there, they worked to unearth the riches of the underground, forging ahead into industry under the watchful eyes of their creator. Their Mothership has so far been pleased with what she has seen, and soon it may be time for her to unlock her doors and allow her children back into the stars with the aid of her technology.

    Oristania is a super-terrestrial planet (a body composed mainly of silicate rocks and metals, and being significantly larger than the Earth) 4 times the size of the Earth, orbiting a blue supergiant star at about 673 AU away. It completes a full orbit around its star in 2745 years, and is tidally locked towards it; one side of the planet never receives light from the star. Intense heats cook the star-facing surface of the planet, fueling powerful core reactions that generate tremendous heat across its surface; cold side included. High emissivity of heat from the planet's surface creates running water where normally there would be snow, and the appearance of any number of its many moons creates daily cycles of temperature fluctuations. All life that has developed on Oristania developed on the cold side of the planet, and is incapable of approaching the "light horizon" in which sunlight from the star can reach their eyes without burning alive. Because of this, most life has developed multiple ways of living in the dark, as well as the cold including heat vision, sonar, and efficient heat-retention biological morphology.

    NS: "Neo-Solar" - The year in which non-degrading solar panels were created along the outer edges of Oristania's dark side, propelling Noir'an civilization into one of near-limitless energy.

    All dates are recorded in years, with the current Noir'an calendar set at the year 1832 NS.

    45,000 BC - Musical instruments first appear in archaeology digs.

    Their exoskeleton is somewhat stronger than human bone, but once it cracks a Kughar will be highly incapacitated, especially if it breaks in a limb.
    -- Reproduction: 4
    Let's face it: Kughar are insects, and boy do they reproduce fast. Their breeding happens in cycles, and four times a year they gather to breed. It is a celebration and a week of global holiday, and after that the specially trained Kughar take care of all the eggs that were produced. Not every single one of them hatches, but when each female produces around 30... Sometimes the race even eats some of their offsprings due to the space constraints, but now that FTL was discovered... They will fill colonies just fine too.
    -- Industry: 2
    The industry of the Second Dominion is nothing spectacular, although it is more worker than machinery based. As of late, one corporation took the risky step into arms dealing, and is the clear number one in the business for now. The said company is Antic corporation, specialized in missiles, torpedoes and other spaceship mounted explosives.
    -- Psyche: 1
    It is rare for a Kughar to even think of opposing the dominion... but it has happened, as evidenced by the name "Second dominion". Nobody suspected a thing either.
    -- Morale: 1
    Kughar do not exactly cope well with defeat, and will easily get angry over it. Fighting in a losing position is also almost impossible for them. They do not fear the enemy... but in their enraged state they fight extremely poorly and have trouble following orders.

    Brief Planetary History:
    -- The raise to dominance the Kughar species went through was a simple one: they had no real competition. On their home planet Oz'Kavosh only a few species can hope to survive, as it is unusually cold for an inhabited planet. The Kughar species however adapted to this quicker than any other and thus claimed their seat on the top of the food chain. Although when the food chain consists mainly of the few plants that manage in the environment without wilting off, the top is not that awfully hard to reach. When Kughar started developing some real intelligence though, they found out that beneath the ground everything was warmer and nicer, so they dug in. All the years within their home planet have grown several self-illuminating bulbs onto their exoskeleton, including an extra noticeable one hanging on a cord like appendage, much like the light on many deep-sea fishes on planet earth (not that they'd know about that). In addition to this, some genius noticed that when mixing certain body fluids with different chemicals resulted in rather potent rock dissolvant, nothing kept the Kughar from digging deeper.

    However, the species slowly grew too big to live in smaller civilizations. Luckily for the Kughar, their base nature is to resolve things without fighting it off the second stuff happens, so from everywhere around Oz'Kavosh the Kughar united under the flag of the Oz'Kavoshian Dominion. There was no clear ruler, but the people voted for pretty much everything and Democracy reigned. However, after a couple decades of peaceful living, the First Dominion was overthrown by Ez-Ara, who then formed the new leading system of the Second Dominion and the stepped down to ensure the system works as intended, as she feared she'd use the power wrong if she was not only a bystander monitoring the correct behaviour of the system.

    Then again, the population continued to grow and technology continued to advance. The Kughar did notice that they were simply running out of space and raw materials on their home rock, so they did their best to build a spaceship. Several of their attempts failed, but from each mistake they learned, and eventually their first shuttle made it safely onto a warmer planet nearby. However, the planet's surface was too warm for any life to survive on it... although since when had difficult surfaces been a problem for the Kughar? They simply dug in and called it a new home. This style of settling in has of course made them quite the mining industry dominant species, but it works for them. Now, after having settled to every suitable planet in their home system, the Kughar built several FTL prototypes to finally finish their first exploration and colonization ships with said capability. Now it is just the time to take off and see what awaits out there... and the most daring have even asked the question who?

    Note: Kughar have not ever discovered another intelligent species. This will be their first time in every sense.
