I would love to see another person in here, and with the word OPEN in big letters in the title, I expect Vahir feels the same way.

@Eschatologist Speaking of pre-battle stuff, will Claes be sending Myra and friends orders at some point as to how to take the gatehouse? Maybe after Ryan or Vahir posts again?

Well, the post I'm writing up now is from Oromis's PoV, so it won't really impact you guys right away. I know, I know, gotta interact more, but I've set up so many PoV's that I need to cycle through.

I see this has already taken off. Do you have space for one more interested roleplayer?

What Eschatologist said. The RP's always, ALWAYS open for new players. (Maybe I should add "Free candy" in the title?)

To make things easier on you- and other potential recruits- I've added a summary of the IC events up until now at the bottom of the opening post. It just provides a quick overview of what's what, though, so if you want to reference something that happened up until now, you should go back and read its full post.

I knew it was open, which is why I've already begun writing my setup. However, as events were already going on, I wanted to make sure I wasn't jumping in the middle of something without checking first. Thanks, I'll swing around later with something a little more presentable.

I'll probably finish editing my most recent post by Friday and work on getting something up either this weekend or early next week.

Before I go off and do something that contradicts what has already been set down, could someone give me a basic rundown of the weapons that are being used?

Well, Oromis, the leader of the army trying to conquer Tverios, has a magical flaming sword. Myra had a black iron, or true iron, blade and a buckler with a spike jutting out of it. Not sure about Aksel or Claes. Cannons do exist in the setting, though I have a feeling firearms don't exist yet.

Pretty much the usual stuff, swords, spears, axes. More exotic weapons are used by the northern Qaylu and the southern peoples. I should contradict Lexicon here and say that cannons don't actually exist yet (Though I think he established otherwise in one of his IC posts), the most we've got is crude explosive powder, and that's only really used by the orcs of Rusadir.

Could we maybe say the Empire is tinkering with the idea so I don't have to rework Typhus and Aliden's backstories? They hate elves because their hometown was destroyed when the Margrave of the South tested cannons on the Emperor's behalf by blowing up their village. Maybe the cannons never worked again after that?

Sure. Or say that the cannons malfunctioned, killed a lot of people accidentally, and they said "Screw it, too unpredictable, it'll never catch on".

Posted an equally short and melodramatic piece. Just so that we can get "But what is Oromis doing?" out of the way for now. I miiiiiiight add things to it, if I get ideas of his shenanigans that I kick myself for not adding.

@Maavoimat

I'd argue that you should have posted your sheet here before putting it in the character tab, but that's a gripe that I'm willing to let slide.

As for the sheet itself, I'd just like to know: What are Norman and his men doing right now? Unless they left on their own, ahead of the two armies, it's hard to see how they got into Grandell, rather than sticking by Oromis for the coming battle(s). Or have I misunderstood, and they're with him in the port of Laon?

(Appropriate that a Finn's playing as a Samni, though!)

Forgive me. My second roleplay here, still learning the ropes.

I should have clarified. I assumed that because the brigade's men were incapacitated (AKA me not being here for the original invasion), they would accompany Oromis until they were given orders IC.

Going to FINALLY finish my edits today and start brainstorming about how I want the attack on the Sun Gates to go. There's going to be a lot of moving pieces to this...

It is going to be robust. Also, I think if I manage to get a post up before Lex, Gordon is going to have a chat with Oromis. I need to start laying seeds for the Claes/Oromis ideological discourse, and what better way then to have one of the few blindly loyal people in the entire setting go chat with him about political philosophy the state of the war.

Also Norman, I foresee our characters' relationship being unfortunately similar to Pompey Magnus/Julius Caesar. I'll let you decide who is who.

So, if we were to have a conversation with a character that does not belong to us, how would we go about having them?

That's a very good question. So far, we've been doing the good old method of having our character say something in our post, the other person respond in his, and so on. That works for a brief talk, like giving out orders, but if we're going to have a deeper conversation, it'll probably clog things up.

Even though I was shouted down last time I brought it up, I think we should use a piratepad for the more in depth conversations. But I won't force anyone to do it that way.

I approve of that method. It seems a lot simpler than having a post spam where one person says one thing and the other says something else.
