Well if anyone here knows of either Starship Troopers, or Blue Gender, then you know what this is about.

For those of you that do not know, Starship Troopers is a book (and a series of somewhat satirical movies), while Blue Gender is an older anime. Both have one common theme; Giant. Fucking. Bugs.

-

The year is 2137, and giant bugs have come from another world to Earth and have now taken over. A vast majority of humans migrated to the several space stations orbiting Earth, with a facility on the moon being the headquarters of operation. We have known about the bugs for the past 63 years, and they have been on earth for about 40 years now.

Once densely-populated cities have become graveyards and bug hives, with danger lurking around every corner and beyond every wall. This is not the Earth we once knew, and is instead only a ghostly shell infested with parasites. But we can make a difference; we can cure Earth of this affliction by exterminating these pests.

You will play as a mech pilot, with a customized mech at your disposal. You are all special in some way, whether you are experienced or skilled fighters, inventive individuals, or blessed rookies...and you will all fight together, or die alone...

-

This is only an idea, and it'll take some time to finish. This is literally just to see if anyone would be interested.

Oh, someone actually posted...I was not expecting that...especially this late.

The idea is moving, and work is being done, but it will take some time.

Another interested party here, apparently the bump helped. Also, if you want it, I can be good to bouce ideas off of, and help flesh things out.

@Galgarion

I will consider it. Currently I am working on the various Weapons, Mechs, and Enemy Bugs that will be involved. Though I do only have a skeleton of a storyline, which could be a good or a bad thing(Not everything goes as planned, and...well...you NEED a plan).

I also might want to describe some infantry armor and combat tactics, and some other general world lore stuff...

Also, this now has a name!

One thing I am curious about, what size where you thinking of having the mechs be? Smaller, more like powered armor, building sized, like in Mechwarrior, or somewhere in between?

@Galgarion

I was thinking about having some Infantry, some kind of Elite Armored Infantry(Exosuits/power armor), and so far I have 3 mech types. One, the Skirmisher, is going to be a maximum of one story in height(8-10 ft). The two others that I have are planned to be about 2-3 stories tall(20-30ft). I'm considering down-grading the Skirmisher mech into some kind of Scout/Infantry mech, as it is very small compared to the other two.

Currently I have planned for lightweight, medium, and heavyweight mech types...however, I'm beginning to feel like I need to have some kind of general size range...cause I'm working on an arsenal for mechs(they all have hands so far), and I doubt the Skirmisher could effectively wield weapons made for something twice its size. However, this issue is making me consider adding in mobile weapon platforms, which would have no arms and use mounted weaponry.

So I'm thinking that as soon as I find a good image for a lightweight mech(That isn't the one from TitanFall, that is a last resort), I'll downgrade the Skirmisher mech into something like a juggernaut-type power armor. Then also start looking for Mobile Weapon Platforms...

I was planning on the main factor of all of this being that the players would get one of the Elite Infantry to use as a character, with these Elite Infantry types being the only ones capable of piloting the Mechs. Regular Infantry would use a few armored vehicles(like APCs and Tanks) and those Mobile Weapons Platforms, and maybe the down-graded Skirmisher.

it /sounds/ like you are thinking more in the mechwarrior and battletech size of mecha, I would recommend googling some of those, see if they might give you some inspiration.

Well I currently have some pics, but I'll look into that for some additional ones.

I'm currently using two from TitanFall as reference pics, which is why I don't want to use the third. But I'll definitely look into it.

@Galgarion

That's along the lines of what I had in mind for a weapons platform. But I was thinking something a bit more...solid? Idk, but I'll definitely look into MechWarrior pics for that.

And I already have some vehicle pics, mostly consisting of rather obscure(At least...hard for me to come across) vehicles from WWII. One of which would be the German SPAA vehicle titled Flakpanzer IV Kugelblitz, or just Kugelblitz. At the end of the war only five were ever made...

The Kugelblitz, with some creative tweaking, will function as one of the primary battle tanks. With twin 30mm cannons and fully automatic firing, this vehicle should prove devastating to the bugs...so long as it can keep away from them...

Another vehicle I'm thinking of using is the American M8(M20 version) armored truck. I don't know much about it yet, but it looks like a few models used either 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns, or were even equipped with actual tank/cannon turrets.

And lastly, the United Kingdom's Humber Scout Car. Looks pretty sci-fi by itself, like something you'd expect to see in a sci-fi film made in the 90's or something. It would pretty much function like it's real world model, but with more of a troop transport/support role. And believe it or not, the thing is actually pretty small...so...it would be bigger for RP purposes.

BTR-60 for life.

Getting out the side-door without getting your head blown-off is fun. Come out on your side, head towards rear, swing legs down while holding top-rear rail, forward movement of APC brings you vertical.

Due to the challenges of doing this, riding on top was a thing. And the BTR-80 opted for a larger door you could walk out of.

Ooh...I'll definitely consider that as more of a heavy duty transport or maybe a "mini", mobile command/control center...

Just one question; do you know what kind of gun is actually mounted on it?

EDIT: Dang dude, all those tiny edits you're making. XD

14.5x114mm from KPV very heavy machine gun, uses same cartridge as the PTRD-41.

Later models have been retrofitted with anything up to a 30mm.

Ah, it uses the weird 14.5mm caliber of machine gun? I think I'm using 14.5mm as the caliber for the heavy machine gun the Mechs can equip.

Probably end up using later models, then. Maybe. Not real sure...I really should try to keep to as few ammunition types as I can, but with the bugs having different thicknesses of exoskeletal armoring, I kinda need the variety...from a lore perspective.

These vehicles will be made after the invasion, along with a lot of the mechs. I suppose weapons and ammunition will have been reverse-engineered, or the blueprints for such might have been taken into space.

I've figured that there should be facilities dedicated to military, medical, education, residential, agricultural...you know, the important stuff...

Just so y'know, the GSh-23-2 pretty much uses the came belted case, necked-up to 23mm as 23x115mm.

Also, look up ED-209
