Synopsis:
The Kingdom of Ithelas has endured many a conflict, however, none was so bloody as the Great War of a decade past. The provocateur was none other than the feared necromancer Levius Valenti. Levius was a brilliant student who, unchallenged by the curriculum taught to the other students, found his interest lying in the forbidden arts of black magic, particularly necromancy. A naturally powerful practitioner combined with a knowledge of the dark arts his thirst for power started to become a sensation he could not quench with simple spells and rituals. He began to envision a kingdom of his own, where only the few of magical blood would live and thrive, anyone not possessing magical qualities would be slain or enslaved. He began to build his army. Calling upon the countless generations of corpses in the crypts of the kingdom he assembled his undead army.
Levius marched his army across the kingdom leaving only destruction in his wake, women, children, even animals, all killed or enslaved. Cities and villages burned, the soil, so saturated with blood plant-life would follow their cold battlefield companions in death.
With every kill his army grew and the slaughter moved across the kingdom. Finally the final push on the capital, Boverin, where in his castle King Arde has mustered the last and finest of his men to defend the crown. The King himself stood among his men. However, it would be the acts of the Archmage of the very college Levius himself had been taught, that would ultimately be his downfall. Archmage Amicus, although burdened by age would capture and subdue his former pupil. He was hailed a hero.
Unable to send his own pupil to his death Amicus convinced His Majesty to imprison Valenti in Heaven's Needle, a magical prison on a small island in Boverin Bay.
For 10 years Valenti sat in his cell, imprisoned not only by physical walls but enchantments to his restraints less him powerless. He waits patiently for the time he can get his revenge and fulfill his dream of a pure-blooded kingdom under his banner.

Its been 10 years since the end of the Great War and Ithelas has enjoyed such peace. Villages and cities have been rebuilt and lives returned to relative normalcy. Archmage Amicus is now dead under mysterious circumstances, killed in his private study at the college. King Arde commissioned a statue to his honour to be erected in the Dome of the Sun, just north of the capital.
Rumors have now begun to spread that Valenti is once again free, however, such rumors remain only hear-say.

Loosely based off a book of the same name. ( Not a bad read in my opinion )
I'd like to keep the RP moving at a steady pace so post within a decent time frame please.
While I understand on rare occasions the story warrants a very short post, causal standards apply.
The world as it stands is dominated by humans. However, The enemy is an enemy to all and there is no reason to omit the normal fantasy races.
So, the question remains... interested?
