In the town of Brisbane there's a group of individuals who share a secret hour with living breathing nightmares called Darklings. This group call themselves Midnighters and they all posses special abilities enhanced in the hour settled between 12:00 and 12:01. All Midnighters aside from the Fire Bringer share the same side effect of Photosensitivity. Their powers often leave their mark in the Daylight Hours as well.
Darkling Types:
~ Slithers: Usually in the form of black snakes with fur instead of scales. They can change their form much like any other Darkling and instead of having mouths they have strange web like "tongues" that bruise and numb instead of bite.
~ Flying Slithers: Slithers, but with wings.
~ Darkling: Large shape changing top chain predator of Midnight. Usually takes the shape of a large cat, but can be anything it wishes. Darklings original form is a nightmare inducing blob like thing with wings and tentacles but no head. Or a mouth. Or eyes. Just mass.
~ Halfling: Half Midnighter of the Seer variety and Darkling. Bad bad people do this to communicate with the Darklings via Lore Markings. People who know about Midnighters and don't want them around. Even if they're a bunch of untrained, half crazy young adults. Not realizing how dangerous it is without them.
Dealing with Darklings have taught them their weaknesses:
1). Technology (which unfortunately doesn't work in the secret hour for anyone other than the Fire Bringer)
2). The number 13 or multiples of it in the form of a group of objects or length of a word (called a "Tridecalogism") or a phrase
3). Metal alloys
4). Lightening
5). Blunt Force

~ Mindcaster: Aslynne (Ayla)
~ Fire Bringer: Danielle (Kaalee)
~ Acrobat: Tyler (Dark Light)
~ Polymath: Abel (Prints Avoid)
~ Seer: Lee (sk0m)
~ Metallurge: "Ved" (hagroden)
~ Wayfinder: Echo (Ryuzaki)
Midnighter Friendly Places:
~ Windstar Stables (Sits along the forest's edge)
~ Cafe Seville (In town)

~ Junkyard (Full of "clean" focus free weapons, sits at the town's edge on the opposite side of the Stables)

~ Brisbane's Nature Reservation and Forest
~ Lore Site (Set in the middle of the Res. serious wards must be put in place before Midnight)
~ Anywhere there is a large cluster of Darklings or Slithers
