@gaudi The 2000s were a confusing time.

Well you can have someone with no abilities but the primary draw is that your character was involved somehow in that whole world, so if your character is normal they should have some sort of useful skill like being a doctor or a marksman. There are patrol guards, wall guards, scavengers, medical personnel, salvage truck drivers, agriculture, mechanics, builders, maintenance personnel, weapon constructors, probably more I'm forgetting and people can probably come up with jobs I wouldn't have thought of.

We are not that far into Post-Apocalypse, 500 days or so, but holding on to civilization is pretty important. There is a library as well enterprising survivors who've converted space into places of worship as well as others who organize entertainment like music and live performance. The power is still running so there are films and music you can play but obviously nothing new is being made.

@MrDidact Can that library be connected to Isaac's database (if he is accepted of course when finished)? Cause the main focus of him is the recovery of knowledge so that the citadel can have the info needed to do whats needed really. That is the core of what I'm writing up. Library is physical collections: books, pictures, schematics, etc. database is well data: computer files, recorded music, video, etc.

This is the stuff I need to really put Isaac together.

Well I'm sure space could be set aside in the library for whatever equipment Isaac needs to archive things. It'd also be a good place to store any physical trinkets that would be worth saving as well. And there's not just old knowledge to save, there's always new things to be discovered about psions, the mythic races, and metahumans.

@MrDidact Sweet. And you're totally right about the necessity of cultural preservation - it's barely been 500 days.

I'll get working on some character sheets today. For Spinx's occupation, would "Secretary of the Militia; Executive of Judicial and Penal Affairs" sound about right?

Our Egyptian friend, who will henceforth be known as "Sekhem," I am having more difficulty in determining employment. When one's magic is entirely related to conjuring the power of dead gods and nameless horrors, it makes for a poor translation into civil servitude.

I was thinking of two supers: one with metal manipulation and one who whose ability is to boost the super powers of another super. Are they okay or would you like me to change one or both of them given the people we already have?

@Dead Cruiser Well it really doesn't have to be fancy. You can just put your character down as a mediator and/or warden. I think my characters would handle the direct oversight of the militia as a whole. But your character could just be the Sheriff. They'd be in charge of patrolling the streets, guarding important buildings, overseeing any prisoners, and keeping the peace. Yeah just being the Sheriff sounds like the perfect title for the role you described.

As for Sekhem I need to wait and see more what kind of magic he has. When you say conjure the powers of dead gods I assume he uses ancient magic? Summoning eldritch horrors to solve every problem seems a bit overboard. Right now I'd say since the premier mage is dead Sekhem could handle arcane research.

@shaitarn By metal manipulation do you mean magnetism or does he just move metal? I don't really think a power booster fits right now, I don't even know how that would look for the builder and acrobat characters and other characters are on the verge of being too powerful already. What the team needs is some fire support I'd like an energy projector of some kind. I think we have enough support characters.

I was imaginging Sphinx doing quite the opposite of the Sheriff's job. Rather than patrolling the streets, he would be in the council offices looking over reports and managing personnel. There's a reason I described him as a "Secretary" rather than with some form of rank.

And I think I came up with something decent for Sekhem. I'll try to produce my character sheets tonight.

To me it seems like he's taking on a role akin to an executive officer in a military unit or a steward/seneschal in a castle. If he's managing all of these logistical day to day concerns, executive officer seems like a good job title.

Relating this to my military experience, yeah, you're about right, but a Secretary (as in, the Secretary of the Army) works in integrating and communicating the needs of the armed forces to the greater government, and passing down objectives to military commanders from on high. Either works, really.

I could save McKenzie for a rainy day & create an offensive character instead. It'll take a minute but I wouldn't mind. ^^

@Dead Cruiser Yeah cool so either is fine really, just whatever you think would work better in this context.

@Leviathan Remember you can have two characters anyway so there's no need to. Plus that was directed towards incoming players as a suggestion. Plus you already put a ton of work in.

Ok @Dead Cruiser I haven't read a single thing, but just the fact that the character's photo is Jace from Magic the Gathering gets points in my book.

I'll admit that I took some creative clues from Jace's character. What with Planeswalkers mostly becoming the Superfriends (as of Oath of the Gatewatch), they seem to make good superheroes.

@Dead Cruiser Elspeth is my go to girl. Oh look you can't destroy my fully buffed knight oops....

EDIT: also i just realized I have winter soldier here for my character... military trained guy with robotic arm and eye sounds familiar. Oh well the character himself is ENTIRELY different, and so is the arm really. But yeah had to give Isaac some military training with the arm to make it at all viable. After all the point of the project was to improve soldier and someone who knows how the arm works has to make sure it can do all the things a soldier would do. So Isaac became Hax.

and character two I'm gonna save until I know what we really NEED.

@Dead Cruiser He looks good for the most part but my main concern is his power level. Hundreds of kilometers seems pretty excessive seeing how the hub is only a square mile and Los Angeles is about 500. I think he needs radical downgrade on his range. As for all of the memory wiping stuff, I think it would be a bit too easy to make someone permanently forget things. When it comes to that it should be a lot more difficult to "suppress" a memory than it would be to tweak it. And outright overwhelming people's minds should be more difficult as well.

All in all I think the more dangerous techniques should have some kind of physical cost and a higher chance of the target resisting. And his effective range should come with the drawback of not being able to effectively block out all of the minds he's listening too. In most cases his range should be dramatically lower, he should only be going that far as a last resort.

So tweak that and you should be good to go.

Sphinx was tweaked. I acknowledge all of your points, but most of those can be represented IC without really needing to be noted on the CS. Mostly because it's late and I'm tired. Sekhem will be discussed tomorrow, I'm sure.
