THE MOON

Chapter 1: The Land Beyond the Door

It was a feeling unlike any he'd ever experienced. Theo felt like his very being was pulled from his throat, like he was suffocating. Then he was travelling, faster than the speed of light, faster than recognition, past all the stars in the sky and into a void. Then he jerked, ricocheted off something infinitely distant, infinitely beyond his understanding of anything in the universe.

And as fast as it had begun, it was finished. As Theo's head stopped spinning, he felt cool concrete on his face and hands. He opened his eyes, trying to find his room, grasping for the chair he was so sure he was just sitting in. But there was only darkness, and silence, and the scent of a musty old basement.

Where am I? Just as the thought formed, a soft golden flow filled the room, like the first rays of dawn. A familiar orb appeared before him.

"We have arrived, little light." Her words sounded more like a voice, then, in that place, singing out from the light to every corner of the room.

"Where are we?" Theo asked. It was a small room, seemingly made of stone, with a worn rectangular pedestal in its center. Eerily, it reminded him of a tomb.

"This is the Southern Shrine," the orb said. "Open the door and witness the land I have brought you to."

Theo did as he was told. He shuffled around the pedestal to a shape in the stone walls that seemed like the door. Upon examination, a web of faint lines ran over its face, and it possessed no handle. Theo shrugged, and pressed his hands against it. A brilliant flash of light enveloped him, and the lines on the door came to life as bright light in an amalgam of colors crawled through them. White, orange, red, blue, and even black light spiraled together in orchestrated beauty. When the lines were filled, the door descended into the earth without a sound, opening the shrine.

That was amazing, Theo thought, stepping through the opening.

The land beyond the door was...familiar. It was night, and tall, lush grass painted the dark landscape. Clusters of trees could be seen in the distance. It was a beautiful rolling prairie, illuminated by moonlight.

It was the sky that was strange. Billions of stars made pinholes in the void of night, a hundredfold more brightly than anything he had seen before. And there were moons. Not just one, but three, each different in size from the last. The smallest was pale, with a blue tinge, the closest to the real thing. The next was a large orange ball in the sky, like a harvest moon, but way bigger than it ought to be. The last was blood red, and absolutely massive, eclipsing a large fraction of the stars and half-hidden by dark clouds. Together they cast a glow on the ground, an aurora of gentle lights.

Theo couldn't help but stagger backwards, struck with vertigo. As he did, he felt something behind him, like a blossoming warmth. He turned back to the depths of the shrine to watch several other orbs, just like his, materialize in the darkness.

The sensation of being transported to another world was something new for him, though that particular fact didn't necessarily come as a surprise. To Gaius, it felt as though he were a ghost leaving behind his body. Ehh, this feels so weird, he thought, as he still could feel the sensation of sitting in his house. He didn't really care about leaving that place behind, considering that there wasn't much there; people wouldn't hire him because he looked like a kid, and thus, he couldn't get enough money to buy anything nice.

As he fumed from the bitterness, Gaius felt himself suddenly snap forward into his body and tumbled forward face first. "We're here," an apathetic voice called out. Recovering, Gaius turned to his orb. "Ow, couldn't you have been a bit gentler with the landing?" he asked as he rubbed his face to help get rid of some of the pain. Drifting away slightly like a cloud, it replied "... Maybe...?" Gaius sighed at this response. Well, he wasn't sure what exactly that orb could do, anyways. He turned his focus towards the exit and saw another person, covered with incredibly loose, white cloth.

Is he... wearing blankets?
... Maybe...?
... Gaius decided that it was less important, at the moment.

Approaching the person, he shook the thought from his head and raised his hand in greeting. "Umm, hello!"

The transportation while trippy was really cool it was like a kaleidoscope and traveling through it was Dan who couldn't do nothing but laugh at how awesome all this was "You're enjoying this?!" shrieked Dan's Orb scared out of her mind and a bit confused (She hated that they had to travel through a wormhole) at her Player's enthusiasm "Fuck yeah!! how could i not? i am about to save an entire world!!" Dan answered all the while striking the superman pose.

D.O turned away from Dan and his silliness, while D.O could admit that Dan's enthusiasm might be valuable she sadly couldn't share in his enthusiasm as there was to much on her mind which her attention was torn away from by Dan "Hey are we where about to arrive?" Dan asked D.O turned around and saw a white Portal then answered "Yes i believe so" she said with a sigh of relief as she and Dan Traveled through the portal

On the other side Dan flew out like a speeding bullet thankfully for him, he seemed to have cashed into some dressed completely in black

Rosa and Lance had been next to each other when summoned. They were both friends though Rosa a good deal older than Lance she acted as a sort of big sister to Lance. As they went through what seemed to be a trippy portal they saw each other changing costumes. Rosa changed into a Berserker Knight. She had her bat in hand of course. She did love baseball, she was actually the coach to Lances baseball team. Though she did look pretty young she was talented. Lance changed into what seemed to be a blue power ranger armor. His helmet even fully on.

Their orbs seemed to dance around them as they approached the ground. Rosa seemed to land with a bit of an ooph. She was on her feet but lost her balance and fell backward. "Almost got it." Rosa said as she whiped herself off while getting off. Lance meanwhile had fallen a bit behind due to his transformation taking a bit longer. Soon enough he appeared landing face first into the ground. If it weren't for the helmet that would have done alot of damage. "Oww...." Lance said as he stood up after regaining his balance.

Rosa couldn't help but laugh at Lance. "You are riot! First you make home base but first then this!" Rosa said laughing at him. Lance seemed a bit disgruntled, he could tell that he was a power ranger, the gloves and helmet gave it away as well as the rest of the suit. "Power rangers are supposed to be alot more refined than falling on their faces right?" Lances orb asked him. Lance looked over at his orb with annoyance in his face. "Whatever, anyways where are we?" Lance asked looking around.

Rosa finished up laughing finally and looked at her orb for a moment before looking at the others in the area. "Hey are we supposed to be a party here then?" Rosa asked all the others in the area, her bat in her hand still. Alot of these people seemed pretty young, she wouldn't be surprised if she ended up as the oldest here.

The last few minutes seemed almost a dream as Saerena tried to recount what had occurred. She was lying on her back, a cold, damp, floor underneath her. She recalled something...a voice in her head, an orange light. Then a peculiar sensation, like seeing the world in multiplicities, as if 'Saerena' had become more than a sole being and more a collection of separate ones. For a moment, all of the Saerenas felt nauseous, and just as quickly there was again only one. How strange. she thought as she picked herself off the ground. Yet not as strange as you think. Look around. her interdimensional pilot somehow spoke as Saerena observed her new surroundings.

He...it...was right. Among her company were other orbs, each with a figure materializing beside it. "Where am I?" Saerena asked the orange light, now flickered with distinguishable reds and yellows. That is for you to decide. it replied wistfully in return. The orb levitated forward towards the exit of the old building. This way. It is time. Saerena dutifully followed, still weary from the sudden sensation, glancing at the intricacies of what appeared to be stone walls surrounding her. Approaching the doorway she saw fully formed figures and more orbs, all of various colors. Curious, she continued towards them. Only then, by the lights of three moons, did she notice their...garb. At the same time, she noticed a weight on her hips and head that hadn't existed in the previous world. She drew two pistols, one off each hip, and placed them back in their holsters. For some reason, they felt natural, as if it wasn't strange that she suddenly had them. I suppose this is the new world. she thought, nodding her head softly. She stood straightly and with more confidence now. "Hey are we supposed to be a party here then?" one of the forms, a girl that seemed Saerena's age, asked. "I could do for some partying." Saerena said as as she grinned. "Who's buying drinks?"

"Um, hello!"

Theo squinted between the balls of light, seeking the source of the voice. Beyond them he could see a boy, not much older than a child by the looks of him, approach with a hand in the air. A void followed him, a ball of black light, nearly hidden in the darkness.

Theo raised his hand in response, opening his mouth to speak, but his attention was immediately snatched by the heavy sleeve sliding up his arm. Perplexed, he looked down. As if his thoughts of a Sundancer had been extracted from his mind, he was garbed exactly as he expected to be, down to the tiniest detail. Flowing white robes blanketed his body, cinched at the shoulders, arms and legs by brightly polished steel. A long slender blade hung at his left hip, and he was surprised to find that his palm was already resting naturally on the cool pommel, unconsciously, as if he had been doing it his entire life.

Aside from that, though, he didn't feel any different. He flexed the muscles in his body, but still they felt lethargic, unmotivated. I have the sword, Theo thought. But can I use it?

Abruptly, a plum-colored orb came hurtling from thin air, and shortly behind it was a massive figure. The figure crashed headlong into the young boy approaching Theo, and they bounced apart. Theo managed to catch the boy in his arms and set him upright.

"You okay?" Theo asked. He looked up at the intruder's imposing stature, protective instinct sparking in his chest. It was not human. It must have been three feet taller than him, and possessed neither skin nor muscle. It was only bone, wrapped in a robe.

Yet, it had an orb, and despite its violent entry, did not appear intent on harming anyone. Regardless, Theo stepped in front of the boy to shield him, hand on his sword, face rising to meet the skeleton's eyeless gaze.

"Easy, Theo," the golden orb said. "That's your ally. Just a bit of a rough landing, I guess."

Theo let out a relieved breath, looking back up at the skeleton. It seemed amiable enough, even apologetic, though it was hard to read the face of a skull. He turned back toward the field, taking another look at the new world.

"Hey, orb girl," Theo said. "I don't feel any different. Aren't I supposed to have powers?"

The orb flew over, hovering before his face. Suddenly, it expanded, taking the shape of a rectangle. The shape and size, and the way it bloomed in the dark, it almost reminded him of...

...a computer screen. Numbers and icons were scribbled out before him. He read them over eagerly. Several values were displayed under headings.

HP: 239/239
MP: 0/0
EXP: 0/1000

STR: 13
DEX: 10
AGI: 19
INT: 8
WIS: 18
LUK: 10

There were other sections, like Inventory, Equipment, Abilities. He checked the last section. His abilities were there - Shine, and Flash - but they were dull, gray, unlike the rest of the words in the orb-screen. I guess I can't use them? Right, because it's night. Maybe that's why I feel so...normal. It was logical. If anything was logical at that point.

"What's...'Particles?" Theo asked, looking at another section of the screen.

The golden orb closed, then, returning to a spherical shape. It moved a few feet back. Then, exactly seven smaller lights appeared around it. Four were small, blue marbles. Two were orange, slightly larger. The last was larger than both, crimson in color. They floated in orbit around the orb.

"These are Particles," the orb explained. "They are crystallized magic found throughout the land. Since I can't handle a lot of power on my own, these will help enhance you in ways I can't. They have a variety of powers, from enhancing your physical abilities, to granting you new skills, or allowing you to call the aid of great beings. When you find them, just give them to me and I will take care of the rest."

"Wow," Theo said, beaming. "This is exciting. I can't wait to be even more powerful."

"It does have limits. Their size indicates their power. I can only hold four of the small ones, two of the medium ones, or one large one. One medium and two small work as well. But nothing more. Your body simply couldn't handle it."

Theo waved a dismissive hand. "That should be plenty." He looked back to the others, speaking amongst themselves. They were strangers, but some were getting to know each other. Allies, huh? He remembered one more part of the orb's screen. "Wait. For Party, it said 'none'. They're not in my Party?"

"Not yet. You need to form them individually. You need to choose an ally you get along with. Otherwise your energy won't sync, and it could backlash with some nasty consequences."

"I see," Theo said. He watched the group.

It was all one large and trippy journey. He felt that this is what it was like to be on LST, Cocaine, Heroine, etc. It had only been a minute ago where he was sitting in his room tending to his Bass Guitar practise when the Orb came out of nowhere. The voice was strong, rather English for his matter. Being a Scot, this slightly annoyed him. He had just allowed himself to Follow orders from a floating English energy that sounded like it could be a Shop Announcer at Mark's and Spenser's.

The lights of Cyan and blue, much like the Orb he encountered in his little studio, were flashing before his eyes. He felt weightless. It was like drifting in Space, whilst being on Illegal Drugs. Out of all the experiences that he had ever encountered in his life, this had to be the weirdest. As they floated, he heard the voice speak to himself once again, with the energy and all in its voice.

"I can see, quite clearly, that you're having quite the Whale of a time, my new companion?" The thought of being someone else's companion just sickened him. It related to his real life. Having to stay on the sidelines of his mediocre band, getting little recognition. Though thinking about his real life, he felt that what he was getting into was illogical. He was in a home, doing what normal humans do, rain pouring down outside, when suddenly a poltergeist just appears and convinces him to 'Save the world'. What made less sense was the fact that the 'World' was the Bloody moon. The Moon?! He hadn't anticipated actually being transported to such a place, but as he flew threw this mystical abyss of colour and speed, it might as well be true. Everything was too fast, everything was too illogical. Why on Earth would he agree to something like this on such a short notice. Oh wait...he just remembered.

"You didn't have to tell me you were going to kill my Cat if I didn't come with you! No one lays a bloody paw on Sydney!" He retorted, ignoring the question already asked by the Orb.

"And you didn't need to reach for that butter-knife to stab a Light-based entity. That was never going to work, y'know..." This made him think. "Touche..." Before he had the chance to speak it aloud, he felt that the speed suddenly grinded to a halt, and G-Force took its effect. He was flung off of his feet, appearing out of this transport realm and into what seemed to be a Marble-like floor. He skidded along his side, as he gently tapped the wall. He wasn't completely aware that there were 'Others' in the area. However, something felt Off...

There was a new set of weight on his head, shoulders, legs and feet. He felt that his clothes had just been converted into pure Gravity. Though when he looked down, all he saw was that of Armor. Plated armor, of a light texture, covered his body. Flexible, he discovered as he moved his arms around to inspect it. It seemed to be of those lighter one's you'd find in all those 'Fantasy' films and books. He reached for his legs, finding a holster. His hand found its way creeping into the hilt that poked out of the leathery casing, and as he pulled it out...Folded hand-tool? Though with the pressure then applied to the hilt, two prods poked out from either side. His eyes widened as he scanned it, looking for what seemed to be a Small Crossbow. He felt more weight being added to his back, as he spun the strap scaling his chest around to reveal a large Rifle, with a Brass Embroiled Optic. A grin slowly crept his way up his face, which was mostly concealed by the tilt of the armored Hat that laid on top of his head. He still wasn't aware that some of the new arrivals might've been seeing his entrance, crash and existence, which he had not yet known of their existence. But it was clear now...he had some new ideas, still confused as hell...

"Oh damn...Marcus Krean, you got yourself some stlye..."

"Stop being Modest, there is actually some serious matters ahead..."

"Pleased to meet you," the skeleton known as Dead Dan finished as he approached, holding out a massive bony hand to shake. Theo took it cheerfully, a sudden mirth filling his chest.

"I'm Theo," he said, as the mirth escaped him in a loud laugh. He bent over, slapping his knee. "I'm sorry," Theo said when he began to recover. "I just never expected a skeleton to talk like that. I was thinking more of a, 'I'm here to take your soul' sort of thing." He made his voice deep and puffed up his chest at the last words, then laughed again.

Sudden realization hit him. He's obviously from Earth, just like the rest of us.

"Hey, Dan," Theo said. "What kind of Class is a skeleton?"

Gaius was suddenly slammed by something from behind and was sent flying. "Hya?!" He let out a somewhat pitiable sound, before being caught by the man in white. As he was herded behind him, Gaius silently facepalmed. I'm being treated like a kid again! he thought to himself, frustrated. You do look like one though... Unable to retort, Gaius sighed and poked his head out from behind, watching the others that came, while Theo and 'Dead Dan' talked. Realizing that he still didn't introduce himself, he quickly spoke up.

"M-my name's Gaius!" he said, looking up at the two. Meanwhile, the orb drifted slowly towards his face. Sounding almost sympathetic, it said,
... You really are like a lot like a kid...

Rosa turned to see the girl who responded with something about drinks. She smiled as she walked towards the girl. "You funny, I like you!" Rosa said with a smile. Her baseball bat still in one hand. "I'm Rosa! I chose to be a Beserker knight!" Rosa said with a smile as she held out a hand to shake the girls hand. Rosa had noticed someone else figuring out more of what to do with the orbs. "Hey orb! Do what that orb just did!" Rosa said looking towards her orb as it floated towards her. It opened up to the menu, Rosa looked at it a bit before turning it to the Party menu. "Why don't we make a party, what do you say?" Rosa said after the girl gave Rosa her name.
@sMoKe

Lance meanwhile looked around the area, his helmet fully on. Everyone seemed to be finding people to partner with. He walked towards a man with a rifle on him. "Hey there! How you doing! I'm Lance, apparently I'm a blue Ranger." Lance said introducing himself to the man. He put a finger up to his next and pushed a button undoing his helmet so his face could be seen. "So what do you make of this place?" Lance asked the man as he looked around. Lance was clearly the youngest out of all the people here. He liked the idea of teaming up with someone with long range attacks, and it seemed that Rosa had the same idea on this matter.

Theo laughed again at Dan's words. A Lich, huh? I didn't know the magic here could change us so much.

"Hey, Skeletor," Theo said. "Since you're just bones now, can you still feel pain?" To help Dan come to a conclusion, Theo gave him a light punch on the arm.

"M-my name's Gaius!" The black-clad boy suddenly spoke up. He seemed troubled by something, as the look on his face betrayed. Ah, Theo thought. He must hate being the youngest of us.

The Sundancer turned to Gaius. "Hey, man," he said, patting the boy on the shoulder. "What did you pick? You look like a ninja."

@Tancuras Dan chuckled at his impromptu nickname he then heard Theo's question then felt him punch him in the arm "to answer you're question Gandalf, not really" he said while shaking his head "but this gives me an idea" he said once again so he toke a hold of his skull then pulled and wallah his head came off.

"And it seems that i was correct and it seem because i am dead" he then held his skull and stretched his arm out "i can take of my head and recite Shakespearean quotation" he sang as he put his head back on and bowed "Thank you all have been a wonderful audience" then looked over to Gaius "no need to be shy little dude"

After a short nauseating eternity, Charlie Anders felt the world stop not being there. Coming to suddenly have sense once more, he stood shakily on his feet. Paling and holding his hands out for support, he breathed in and out deeply. "I'm good." He stated aloud, seconds before sliding against a wall and down to his rump. "Still good." He assured himself. The living light that had brought him here sung lowly ahead of him. The somewhat green thing seeming to stare into him. "Come now Charlie, we are slightly behind." Charlie didn't exactly understand what was going on still, but he just sort of sighed and nodded in a defeated way, before putting a fair bit of effort into standing, and subsequenly following his illuminating guide out of the stone holding he was in.

Coming into a dimly lit plane, he looked about at quite a few other figure, all conversing, with their own respective orbs near them. "Alright. I got this." Shaking out some nervousness he felt the new fabric and pressure on his body. Looking over himself he realized he had already become his new self. "Convenient." He stated with some slight trepidation. "Quite, now. Mingle." Less of an order and more of a slight scolding, the orb told Charlie what to do yet again. And of course Charlie complied.

"Uh...Hello!" He shrugged out to the crowd. While a certain giant skeleton was drawing most of his attention, he was open to anyone. Though he figured the blue ranger and actual ranger near him would be a fair place to start.

Coming from the streamers of light and vanishing universe, Sofie giggled at herself as she felt the cold ground under her. She didn't know what had happened, nor where she was, but she knew she must look quite silly. "Okay! Okay! I'm here!" she managed between laughs. The orb that had brought her buzzed in circles around her head. "Yes, yes! Here!" After some slow paced adjusting, Sofie found herself in her new garb before she had even left the building. Pacing out of the stone thing she admired her new and fascinating self. Eventually her eyes rising to the large collection of people standing ahead of her. "Oh right. Friends!" She said in a jovial manner. Her orb bobbed next to her. "Friends!" It said happily.

Looking to the beings all around she scanned for who she most wanted to meet first. Of course some characters seemed more...unique, then others, she spotted someone quite young, and thought she might want to say hello to him first. Bounding her way over she took in eye-fulls of the others, setting a list of people she would soon be befriending. Coming up quickly to the boy though, she slowed and beamed at him at his side. "Lovely night!" was all she said to the three.

"Me? I'm a Shadow Vanguard," Gaius said in response to Theo's question, watching Dead Dan's theatrics. While he didn't need to be intimidated since the lich was friendly, it didn't really change the fact that he was actually towering over him even more so than others did normally. "I guess you could describe it as a juggernaut class, except it focuses more on speed than defense." Of his armor, the only piece that would probably do much of anything was the shield on his arm.

Before he could check exactly what abilities he had, a girl bounded up besides them, or, more accurately, right next to Gaius. "Ah, good evening..." he said, somewhat taken aback by how close she was. Actually, that wasn't the only thing that surprised him. This person... is really bright, Gaius thought to himself as he looked at her. Her very presence was bright. He almost felt the urge to shield his eyes from how bright she was. Even his orb, observing the bouncing, bright blue one, had to say, "... Bright." It was somewhat tiring to be around, for some reason.

Not that I mind, though, Gaius thought as he introduced himself and the others to her.

Veronica Winchester

The change in scenery had been quite an experience for Veronica. One moment she was peacefully sitting on her bed, reading through one of her favorite novels, and the next she was being hauled away by some magical force to another world. The transition was so uncomfortable that she couldn't even remember what book she was reading before she had left; she could only recall the tightening in her chest as if all the wind had been knocked out of her. Then came the tumbling. Oh god the tumbling. She had felt as though she'd been locked in a dryer, being tossed around like yesterdays laundry. She remembered seeing brilliant hues of purple and red, matching the same colors of the smug little ball of light that had ever so promptly whisked her away. When the sensation had ended, she arrived stumbling on high platform shoes; something she was not expecting. Quickly regaining her balance, she avoided making a fool of herself in front of her orb companion.

Oh, Bravo! Bravo! the deep, condescending voice of the smug ball of light echoed through her mind, I'm impressed. Most people arrived crashing and tumbling, but you've exceeded my not very high to begin with expectations! Bravo! Veronica forced out a smile, throwing sincerity to the wind as she mentally expressed her desire to trap the entity in a jar and use it as a night light.
"My, you do know how to flatter a lady. Is that why you're single?" The orb defensively fluctuated at her words, hovering in front of her face.
Don't label me with your petty human romantic system! Veronica had struck a nerve, and a devious smile told the both of them that she intended to milk it.
"Is that the sweet scent of denial I'm picking up? Speaking of sweet scent, is this?" Veronica twirled around, catching a whiff of the lovely scent of red roses. It was a strong scent, but a comforting one. As she twirled, Veronica giggled in delight as the frills of her beautiful new attire danced with her movements. "Oh it's everything I pictured! Right down to the little bow!"
Am I good? Or am I good? Veronica had to agree with her annoying little companion on this one. He had basically turned her into her ideal appearance for a witch. She was worried that the orb would misunderstand and turn her into the wicked witch of the west from The Wizard of Oz. Although being green and controlling an army of flying monkeys may have had its perks.

Veronica wasn't a green monkey slave witch though, instead her physical appearance had remained quite the same. She still had the same pale complexion and her hair, while still the same length, was done up into two very long pigtails that hung from her hair and draped their way down her body. The only notable difference was that her eyes were a crimson red now, pulsing with a magical power that was foreign to her. She was garbed in a rather unique lolita dress, black in color with red hems and white lace. A large red bow sat gently above her chest. Veronica didn't even take the time to look at the world around her, she was too captivated by her new outfit. It may have seemed a bit conceited, but in truth she was rarely this in awe over clothing so she figured now was a special occasion. Before she could have another thought, a great heavy force collided with her, sending Veronica and the unnamed assailant to the ground together.
Oh Dear! Terribly sorry!

Kieran Croft

Kieran didn't remember much about the sensation of travelling between worlds. It was a very brief, uncomfortable experience. No, he was more concerned with the way he had landed. As soon as he had appeared in the dark room, he'd found himself thrown forward and into a young lady twirling around in a dress. He and the girl were on the floor together, in a daze. When he came to, he quickly shrieked in embarrassment at being so close to a lady. He sat up, fumbling to explain himself.
"Oh geez, I am so sorry. Ma'am? Are you alright." Kieran's concerned voice caught the attention of his little companion, a glowing orb with a very deep brownish red hue. The orb had a soft, effeminate voice, like a concerned parent.
Oh Dear! Terribly sorry! Both Kieran and his orb sat there, still pinning down Veronica unintentionally, trying to explain themselves. Unable to stand it much longer, Veronica started batting her fists on Kieran's chest in a flimsy attempt to get him off of her.
"Move yourself from me at once, meat head!" with one final shove, Kieran was pushed gently off of the young girl who quickly stood up and dusted herself off. She looked incredibly sad once she saw that some dirt had stained a part of her dress. Her look of sorrow turned into fierce burning rage which sent a shiver down Kieran's spine. "I hope you're happy. I was just sitting here, minding my own business and admiring my new outfit, and then you show up and ruin it! Can I not have but a simple moment to myself?!" By this point, Veronica's yelling was likely to attract anything outside of the room to come and have them for dinner. Yet this thought didn't stop Kieran from standing up and defending himself.
"Hey! I didn't ask to be sent flying when I arrived! Maybe you should pay more attention instead of focusing on what you're wearing!" Kieran grumbled, standing a good foot taller over the girl. Yet the height difference did nothing to intimidate her, and Kieran soon found his collar being yanked by her deceptively delicate hand.
"The audacity to speak to a lady in such a way! You're worse than that pompous orb!" The shouting continued between the two of them, and their arguments included some phrases that can't be repeated because God is watching.
"And another thi- wait, did you say orb?" Kieran's rebuttal was cut short when he remembered the girl mentioning something about a 'pompous orb', "You have one as well?" It took him a while to notice it, but Kieran's gaze slowly shifted over to the other side of the room where his own brick red orb was mingling with another, violet orb.
Not even five minutes and they're already arguing.
Humans are so incredibly predictable.

Veronica practically hissed at her orb, deciding to stop arguing out of her desire to show her infuriating ball of light who was in charge here. She glared at Kieran, who stood there and shot the same look back at her. She could tell that he was just putting on the tough guy act, not wanting to be bossed around by a girl it seemed. His fragile masculinity was quite humorous, so much so that it brought a smile to her face.
"Right, I suppose we got off to a rough start. I'm sorry." Despite what she was saying, if you were to read between the lines and listen to her tone and menacing smile, it would become more apparent that she was saying something along the lines of eat dirt you washed up turd. However Kieran wasn't great at reading between the lines, so he mistook her apology for being something actually sincere.
"No, I should be apologising. It was my bad. My name is Kieran Croft, by the way." The young boy smiled, putting his hand out to shake hers. The girl stood there, staring at it as if it were a piece of garbage rather than a young gentleman's hand.
"Veronica Winchester." She replied. Without another word, Veronica turned away from the young boy and walked outside of the temple entrance. Kieran rubbed the back of his head, sighing. Not off to a good start here.

He hadn't taken notice before, but Kieran's outfit had also changed. He was adorned in what he could only describe as a modern day samurai attire. He wore a sleeveless hoodie, draped in a cotton overcoat that started at his shoulders and went all the way down to his waist before being tucked into his pants and held up by a black piece of fabric. His pants were loose, stretching down to his ankles before wrapping around his feet like a pair of tight socks. At his waist he felt a sheathed blade.
I hope the outfit is up to your standards. Kieran smiled at his orb companion, admiring himself a little more. The young boy flexed his arms, striking a pose for his orb companion.
"I look pretty damn good, don't I?" He asked confidently, relishing his cool new outfit.
Alright, let's not get big headed now. Go and meet with your other companions. The thought scared Kieran, especially since Veronica had reacted so poorly towards him. Yet he supposed it couldn't be helped.

Meanwhile Veronica was already out in the open, admiring the scenery. It didn't look like the moon, but that was hardly the first thought that came into her mind. She approached the group of strangers with their own orbs, bringing with her the scent of roses. She cleared her throat and spoke up to the group, holding her head high.
"So I presume we're all here under the same circumstances then? Good, so I won't waste words." She didn't even give them a chance to respond before deciding to introduce herself to them. "I'm Veronica Winchester. I'm a Witch." She stood up straight, staring at the group with piercing red eyes. She was trying to seem powerful, wanting to gain respect in the group. Unfortunately her plans had not counted on Kieran coming up behind her and cheerfully draping an arm over her shoulder.
"Hey! So we're getting acquainted here?" The happy go lucky tone of the boy was nothing short of insufferable to Veronica, and he'd completely ruined any chance of her making the right impression. "Veronica and I already met, so we're practically thick as thieves. My names Kieran Croft, and I'm a badass Samurai!" Kieran proclaimed, directing a thumbs at his chest while he stood close to Veronica. Kieran couldn't see it, but the rest of the group could probably make out Veronica's desire to strangle the pig headed idiot by the menacing expression that was plastered across her face.

The group had become quite large, as Theo observed. He became flustered at the assault of greetings. First was a blue-haired and well-dressed young woman, bounding up to him and Gaius. With all her clinking bracelets and melodious voice, Theo felt an instant attraction, his spirits lifted simply by her presence. It was almost odd, conflicting with his characteristic cynicism. What's her Class? He thought suspiciously.

Before he could speak, the second person appeared, and this one reaffirmed his cynicism. Blunt and demanding, she was the type of person Theo never got along with. She described herself as a Witch, and Theo held in a laugh, covering it with his hand. Fitting.

And then the third came, a cheerful guy, a Samurai. Theo sent the pair a smile.

"Just call me Theo. I'm a...Sundancer." He gave a bow, flourishing his robes. The cluster of them, blue-haired girl, Veronica, Kieran, Gaius and himself, made five. He looked at Dead Dan, and the rest of the people appearing near the shrine, and quickly lost count. "I thought I was going to be in this alone," he said forlornly. "That's alright. Friends are good." He beamed at the group.

"So," Theo said, turning to his golden orb. "How about giving us a briefing?"

The orb spiraled into the sky, casting a flash of light at the people gathering below.

"I would like to thank you all for heeding our call. Our world is in danger, and you are the only ones who can stop it.

"I cannot tell you exactly what we are fighting, but it is a dangerous force. But before that, you will have to learn to fend for yourselves in this world. There are natural predators, ones that can be dangerous, but every creature has its use. You will earn food, equipment, and valuable combat experience from fighting them. You must grow stronger, as your success depends on it.

"You will see the shrine before you. There are many scattered across the Moon, and they are a great source of power for our people. If you can activate them all, as you have activated this one, we will be one step closer to liberation. But you need the power of four people to activate a shrine, so it is imperative you stay together. We will help you find them."

The orb finished, floating back down to Theo's side. Innumerable questions flickered through his mind, but before he could focus, the orb spoke again.

"Little light," she said. "Those predators I spoke of. You're about to meet some. It seems we've drawn attention."

Theo spun, eyes on the dim horizon. A buzz filled his ears, as several shapes flickered in the distance.

"Are those..." Recognition struck Theo's mind. "...mosquitoes?" He hardly filed mosquitoes away as "predators". But there was something else about them.

"They are similar in function to your planet's mosquito, yes," the orb said. "But these ones feed on much larger animals, and as such..."

Theo looked, his eyes wide in horrified astonishment. One was closer than the rest. It was over ten feet tall, spear-like sucker piercing the wind as thundering wings brought it closer at alarming speed.

"Everybody get ready!"

After the last of the people appeared in the shrine, Theo's orb rose up and gave them all a brief overview of why they were there. Gaius was somewhat nervous due to how little information they had on their enemy, but figured that it'd be more important to survive for now. As the giant insect approached, he called over his orb.

Mind showing me what I can do?
Alright...

Quickly dispersing into mist and reforming into a black box with white text, Gaius looked over what appeared to be his status.

HP: 175/175
MP: 50/50
EXP: 0%

STR: 6
DEX: 12
AGI: 32
INT: 9
WIS: 11
LUK: 8

Looking over his skill set, Gaius relaxed enough to actually laugh a little. "The night is a pretty good time for me, huh?" he mumbled to himself as he tightened the round shield onto his right arm. As he walked back for a run-up, Gaius thought it'd be a good idea to explain to the others what he was doing."Looking at my stats, it seems like the only way I'll actually be able to do any damage is by running straight into it, so... please follow me up!" Sprinting forward with speed beyond what he used to be able to do--undoubtably thanks to his newfound, game-like abilities--Gaius's building Momentum manifested itself in the form of the shadowy aura that started trailing him.

Theo watched after the boy, mouth agape. "Don't go alone!" He called out, but Gaius was already gone, streaking toward the first creature with unnatural shadows in his wake. He's fast. And he seems to have a handle on this. I need to keep up.

Theo jerked his sword free of it's scabbard. It felt natural in his hands, but heavy. I still feel so weak. Picking a class only useful in the light was such a stupid idea. Shaking his head, he began to run, robes flowing alongside the sword held in both hands beside him. He was always a fast runner, but his speed was immensely underwhelming next to the Shadow Vanguard's.

During his charge, a second giant mosquito approached near their left flank. Leaving Gaius to the first one, Theo turned to meet the other. Suddenly, as he neared, the beast seemed infinitely bigger than it's ten feet, looming over him like an unconquerable tower. Impossible to defeat. His legs seemed to be turning to jelly, and he slowed to a weak jog, panic in his chest.

The beast was suddenly upon him, lunging at him with its stinger. It was massive, dwarfing any lance or spear Theo had ever seen. He tried to throw himself to the side, but the stinger caught his chest, glancing off the steel plate with a shower of sparks. It was as hard as iron.

The impact knocked some sense back into the Sundancer. There was not much pain, but enough to make him angry. He let out a throaty cry into the wind, raising his sword and throwing it across his body. It collided with the stinger with a thud, embedding itself in thick flesh, and as the mosquito recoiled the sword was pried from Theo's hands.

"Oh, come on!" Theo yelled.
