For many, the day had ended. Adults were returning home from work, children and teenagers were returning home from their clubs, after school. The sun was steadily sinking lower beyond the horizon, the sky bathed in a brilliant orange hue. It was a stunning end to what, for most, was an average day. For most. Certainly, few saw this as anything other than an average day. What could possibly be unusual about it?

These many were, of course, unaware of what the night beckoned. Even before the sun had fully set, there were stirring. Those who wished to fight for it. For the White Night of Klarsberg. Whether it was due to nerves, or a desire to scout their surroundings in order to have a greater advantage, some of those who had come to Rokuro City in order to win the Origin were already stirring. These forces were moving, preparing for the first night of battle for the Origin of All Magic. For this was the last ritual, the one that would decide the victor, the one that would determine who finally, truly obtained the Origin. There was no exact count of the participants, but they all had their own reasons for being involved in such a conflict, for being willing to battle, possibly to the death, for such an end. The Origin of All Magic was, after all, the ultimate, original source of all mana. The endless wellspring of all that was magic as well as the limitless receptacle that stored all knowledge of magic from the moment of the world’s inception.

And yet, Rokuro City as a whole was utterly unaware of such a thing. It was that way when it came to every single battle prior to this. For the world of the uncommon, the unlikely, and the impossible was a secret, kept apart from the world of the mundane by a network of magic, organizations, and individuals keeping that portion of reality hidden from the rest. And so, many of Rokuro’s residents went to their homes or prepared for the night, be it for recreation, work, or even late-night errands, without even the barest scrap of awareness as to what would soon be occurring in their town.

The White Night approaches.

The girl’s long red hair swished through the air behind her. Both hands were firmly jammed into her pockets as she walked, keeping her head down. She had been in Rokuro for a few days now. It was exactly how she had been told it would be. It was a very small city and, as far as cities went, was really quite quiet. For some, it might have been hard to believe how important the location is. However, Ando Asami was quick to accept this fact.

There was really no point in dwelling on it, after all. And so, the red-haired mage continued on, glancing around. It was, so far, fairly routine. Asami had taken to growing more and more used to the town’s layout, strolling the streets so she was fully aware of their battlefield, and the places where it would be unlikely some innocent civilian could stumble into everything. As she walked, her eyes travelled briefly to those around her. People returning from work, students returning from clubs, and all variety of people were on the streets. Given the volume of students, and the fact that she had been close to it before, Asami was certain she was near the high school. Up ahead she could even see the buildings giving way to a clearer area that was likely the schoolgrounds, if she had to make a guess. It was a portion of the city she had yet to explore in her preparations for the upcoming night. She assumed that there would be other schools not too far away. The shopping district, too, was nearby…

Taking her hands from her pockets, the younger of the two daughters of the Asami family stretched. She could feel it, anxiousness inside her. It was only natural given what would be happening so soon. But it was really kind of frustrating! She wanted to be more collected given what was going to be taking place, but… Jeez. It was hard to be.

… People were going to lose their lives. There was no easy way to think of it. For the sake of gaining the Origin, people were going to die. Asami had known this since the moment she made her decision to fight in this battle to claim the White Night. But… it was a chance unlike any other. A chance to claim something like this… Even if she had less faith in her family’s ideal than she once had, there was no way she could pass up this chance. These people who involved themselves in something like this… they knew what they were getting involved in, didn’t they? They had to.

Asami sighed. Regardless, she had to win. She’d keep innocent people out of the battles, and she’d win. It sounded simple, and Asami kept that firmly in mind.

She paused briefly, contemplating what next to do. Soon it would be time for the final preparations…. Maybe she should grab something to eat first.

The white-haired girl quietly adjusted her bag. With the small amount of money she had been given for the day, she had managed to purchase a new book. Of course, speaking to the cashier had… it wasn’t easy, speaking to people like that… so she had simply tried to indicate what she wanted by holding up the book and her money in the most direct ways she could manage. She liked her selection, but… but the cashier was so intimidating, she had so much energy…

Shi gripped her bag tighter, as her crimson eyes travelled skywards, across the deep orangey hues playing across the clouds as the sun set. It was approaching, wasn’t it… The tiny girl nodded to herself. Yes, it was soon. There was a strict order to things that would follow. First she had to head to the appropriate location, which would begin shortly.

She tried to keep her head down as she walked. She wanted to drop off her new book first, and… she didn’t want to be the center of attention. She didn’t want people looking, there were so many people… even with her cover as a middle school student, she still tried to avoid other people as much as she could. Shi had been approached before, asked about her looks… what did she say to something like that?

Her mind centered on her objective.

lol, so chilling! I can totally see it happening!

wow srsly? never breaking into schools now...

i made 590000 an hour with this method! clock here to learn how!

I hope it was a cute ghost...

Kazumi Yamada, as usual, could never tell what was dumber: The obviously-fake crap she wrote on her stupid blog, or the commenters that seemed to believe every damn word she typed.
Thumb periodically flicking the screen of her smartphone to scroll down the page, the very-much normal college student let out a small sigh as she walked home. It was almost worrying, the amount of people that seemed to believe her stories. It was pretty a much a mix of made-up "encounters", which any sane person had to realise was about as legit as Kazumi's knowledge quantum physics, and facts pulled from whatever obscure internet page her cursor found.

Another sigh. Kazumi pocketed her smartphone, deciding she could take no more of the blind believers and spambots. She really should close the stupid blog down, already. At this point, it was nothing more than a distraction to her studies.

...But still, a lot of people read the blog...

And her mind was already trying to think of a new creature to write about. Some obscure goblin-subspecies? Maybe recount the time she fought an army of wendigos? Kazumi- no, Sp00kyGal000 - would definitely have a new blog entry prepared by the time she got home!

And as if the heavens themselves wanted to see such a thing, the world saw fit to provide a mysterious beauty - someone with long, flowing white hair and head cast downward, as if trying to avoid the crowds around her. Kazumi came to a stop, baffled. It wasn't everyday you saw a young girl with hair like that...

...

Well, two ghost entries in a row wasn't going to annoy anyone, right?

Unaware of her intense stare, Kazumi's bespectacled eyes followed the girl as she made her way... wherever her destination lay.

Elizabeth Cooper

Getting into the city and finding a place to stay had been easy for her. No need to rush for trying to find a place to stay when realising that the war was going to start, squirrel away funds, or the like. It wasn't the first time that the vampire had been in the city, and almost all of her needs were already met. The apartment she'd had from the last time around was still fine by her standards... but not the best place to keep her car, so finding a good place to keep it safe had been on the list.

There was one need that no amount of advance preparation could meet and the brunette's first response had been to hit up a bar and see if she could make any friends. Sure enough, she'd managed to find someone who took an interest in the jewellery-adorned foreigner and nudged them into following her outside. If anyone looked down the alley by the bar, Elizabeth knew from experience that they'd just view it as a rather indiscrete tryst... and not the meal that it could be more accurately described as.

Not that it would be that bad to be doing something more fun, the vampire considered, giving her victim something slightly more pleasant to remember--not that she expected they'd guess what had just happened--before pulling down the hood of her coat. Unfortunately, little time remained to check whether any of the magi families around here were taking part in the war, so fun would have to be put off now that her needs were actually met.

Elizabeth left the alley, trying to remember the addresses from ten years ago.

Sister Lucrezia

Lucrezia was not enjoying Japan. She'd learned the language, but the food wasn't to her tastes, almost everyone was a heathen, and people kept staring at her. Some idiots had even mentioned 'cosplay', like she was just playing at being a member of the church. The nun would have happily left the country behind for good without her mission to complete and she was close to just showing her gun to the next person to bother her, but that would simply cause more trouble than it was worth with the strict gun control laws. So she kept the illusion that showed it as nothing more than a bag of sports equipment going.

Even more annoyingly, she couldn't just drop out of view and wait for things to start: Lucrezia preferred to attack from a position of safety, out of the obvious view of whoever she targeted. To do so with no familiarity of the town would be all but impossible and she'd had to spend the entire day 'sightseeing', whilst keeping an eye out for anyone that her frustration could justifiably be targeted at. Even more so now that the schools had let out and even more of the natives were staring at her.

Maybe she would have blended in better if she wasn't so tall; the blonde discarded the idea of using magic to make herself seem smaller. It would probably end with being walked into but, more importantly, there was no way to justify such vanity. So she kept walking. Walking and watching.

-Daichi Arata-

"... same familiar streets... this place doesn't change, even while I'm attending the university here."

Arata uttered to himself as he walked past group of people, bumping into the occasional stranger who he would glare at with piercing red eyes before returning his focus to the front of him. Arata knew the city in and out, each shop and items memorized. The people who he walked aside were most likely ignorant civilians who would not take note of the White Night.

The final time where all Magi would put their hearts into the ritual and paint the streets a sickening red hue. Arata could already imagine the chaos, the horrors that would transpire... and yet, he didn't feel anything. His mouth was moving in a rhythmic pattern as he munched on the gum, the man blankly looking forward. His head was tilted as he reached into his pocket and obtained his Smartphone.

As he walked, he kept his eyes firmly placed, staring at the screen as he slided his finger around, unlocking the phone. Tapping on a few things, with the occasional looking around. Sure, he was wandering around town, bored out of his mind, but there really wasn't anything better to do to pass the time... well, other than ready his equipment. The man flipped to a familiar site - The Blog of Sp00kyGal000.

He lurked often, and read this persons stories. To the regular human eye, these were nothing but fantasies... but to imbeciles and Magi, these tales were real... to an extent. Of course, a few of these creatures were false, but it seemed this Magi was trying to project a fearsome and undaunting persona of a hero... but in reality, Arata saw it as arrogance.

He did have reason for keeping tabs on this page.

This "Sp00kyGal000" was probably going to be participating in the White Night ritual tonight. The mans fingers went to work as he jabbed at the characters to formulate his first post. This person had to be some sort of Magi, it was blatantly obvious, so why not issue a warning if they were going for the Origin? Most Magi are going to kill for it, and he was blatantly confident that this account didn't belong to them.

-Hymn-

"Nice tales, hope you're ready for the next as I would recommend not getting too cocky."

And with that set in stone, he hit the enter button, sending it for everyone to settle. With that said and done, he locked his phone and jammed it back into his coat pockets. Returning his gaze to reality, he saw a sore thumb of a person stick out in the crowd. Reminded him of the word that people used this day known as "cosplay."

Arata shrugged, and continued moving along, feeling that the person in the peculiar getup could either be doing just that, or had some other enigmatic intent. Either way, the man kept on moving, passing through the crowds of people. Eventually, he did get a chance to pass by the cosplay, before he grew even more suspicious of her presence... something just felt off. Keeping his cool, regular appearance, Arata looked at the woman for a few seconds as if he was analyzing her, and walked off.

"..."

Each minute he walked, the day was waning, each step he feel it creep a bit closer - the night. "... short-cut to my apartment should be this way." Arata glanced at a nearby alley way. His movement stopped completely as if he was taking in the city around him.

A few moments later he approached the entrance and darted into the sabled alley, disappearing from the sights of many. Debris laid about the place as he quietly traversed down the old place. Arata kicked a can in his way down the alley, watching it fly all the way to the exit. Blowing a bubble as he did so, he let the orange hue deflate and pulled it back in.

Eventually he departed from the alley, into the crowds of people yet again. At least their was nothing supernatural around... only thing he could familiarize himself with was a couple of students around the general vicinity.

"Almost there..." Arata uttered this double entrende coldly to himself as he continued to blend in to an extent among the masses, awaiting for the arrival of the night.

Shi, the Quiet Killer

As Shi walked, she felt as if there were eyes on her. It was a feeling she couldn't stand... why was someone else watching her? It was bad enough already... so many people, it made it hard to breath. She felt so closed up inside. The tiny girl's heart hammered in her chest, as growing nervousness swelled ever higher. She couldn't handle this. What's more, she couldn't risk being followed to her destination. The white-haired girl had to avoid being witnessed, avoid being seen acting as her true purpose no matter what it took. Naturally, this extended beyond simply avoiding the eyes of others. Far, far beyond it. But she had to lose whoever was following her. As much as she didn't want to be in a crowd, with so many people around her, so close... losing someone like this wouldn't be hard, would it?

Shi glanced over her shoulder to try and get a quick look at who was following her, taking her eyes off her path for only a second. She felt herself hit someone, some person, and with a yelp fell backwards onto her bottom, the book tumbling from her hands as she tried to brace herself to avoid knocking her head on the concrete.

Realizing what she had done, the white-haired girl sat completely still for a moment, before slowly looking up towards the person she'd knocked into. Shi's red eyes were wide, her lower lip trembling as her body lightly quaked.

Ando Asami, Closer to the Origin?

Asami's hands remained firmly in her pockets as she walked along. She came to a pause after a few moments, her eyes travelling over the nearby storefronts. There was a ramen shop, apparently quite a decent one. Takaki's, ran by a young woman who was apparently quite popular in some circles. There was certainly plenty of time for ramen, that was for sure. It was strange, in spite of this still being a city, it had that nature that only a small town could hold. That way a shop could be known by nearly anyone who lived there. It wasn't something Asami was used to, she had to confess. She lived near Tokyo, and naturally that wasn't anything like a small town. But here, in Rokuro, it was like some sort of hybrid.

It was an odd place to wage such a battle, but it was the only place that permitted such a thing, wasn't it? The only place the White Night could exist in this world. It was a combination of so many factors. As Asami understood, one of them was Japan's isolation from the influence of Mage Circles so long ago, when the ritual was first conducted. That was, at least, part of the explanation for the location as she knew it.

Regardless, this wasn't getting her any closer to filling her stomach. Asami approached the humble storefront, pushing the glass doors open. Immediately she was struck with the delicious smell of ramen... all varieties.

It spoke deeply to her empty stomach.

"Ah, hello there!" said a cheerful, if somewhat rushed, voice from behind the counter. It was the shop's owner, a young woman with short brown hair. Asami returned her smile.

"Hello," she began, brushing her long red hair back, "I'll be a minute, I have to decide on what I'm ordering."

"Ah, right, good! Er, sorry, things are a little hectic!" the girl replied, hurrying off to attend to one of the other customers.

Right.

A meal to fill her stomach before the night. Before the fighting began.

The Akiyama Family, as part of their 'cover', owned a publishing company close to Takaki's ramen shop, or rather, they owned it on paper, but left it to a group of loyal subordinates to administer. Said publishing company had a high rooftop, unnaturally free from dust, bird dung, or other dirt...which was also a place that Osamu Akiyama, the youngest of the family, was permitted to use in his job of observing the battles of the White Night.

Right now, with his vision-enhancing spell (Stellar Sight), Osamu was observing a girl who may be Asami Ando, the girl who was supposedly 'Closer to the Origin'. She was apparently doing nothing more than getting a bite to eat, and Osamu, for now, didn't think she was up to anything suspicious, although he didn't like the fact that her family kept boasting about being their closeness to The Origin'. Speaking of the Origin; this whole 'Mage War' business was dangerous and borderline immoral!

Yes, Osamu was tempted by the immense power of the Ritual, who wouldn't be? But the act of seeking out that power required a lot of horrible things that he cannot abide, at least, not at his age. Power, power, and power, power was nothing without purpose, and said purpose should not be gaining more power. Magic had the potential for so much good, but, well...

Tangent, Osamu privately believed that the ban on Magic in Christian Scripture came not just from hatred of what was different, but also from Magi using Magic the way Religion is used today. Granted, this might be an unfounded statement, but it fit his...prejudices. Either way, the point was, Magic was used for a lot of evil, corrupt, horrible things, or just plain dubious. That just shouldn't be.

Drasinian

Drasinian was walking down the city streets, taking in a breath of fresh air as he passed people by in the crowd. The night was almost upon them, and with it, the festivities that woukd cause these same streets tomrun red with the blood of both the innocent and the damned. For those like him, those with knowledge of the bloodbath that was to soon commence, there was an electricity in the air, a trill of excitement and anxious anticipation. It wasna bloodbath that'd go down in history, and Drasinian could hardly count his luck that he was able to join in this final duel between Magi.

Of course, whether I win or no makes real difference to me. It'd be nice, but when it comes down to it, I've lived life without knowing the Origin before just fine, so as long as I survive, I think I'll be alright.

Drasinian couldn't help but chuckle to himself, only to feel something bump into him. Looking down, he saw upon a small albino girl, trembling like a mouse. He said nothing at first, merely cocking an eyebrow before reaching down to pick up the book she had dropped, brushing dirt off it before holding it out for the young lady to take, giving her a small, slightly patronizing smile as he did so.

"A young lady like yourself should really watch where you're going, don't you think?" His smile and demeanor seemed kind and friendly, but on the inside of his mind, he was already looking her over like a predator does his prey, slowly and surefully, making sure to savor every inch before going in for the kill. However, now wasn't the time for such fun and games, so he quickly reigned in hus murderous instincts. There would be time for that later. Still, he couldn't help bur find the little mouse a curious sight, with her pale, doll-like skin, hair whitebas snow, and eyes like pools of freshly spilled blood. A target for future investigation, perhaps. "So then, what has you in such a hurry, little one? Are you being chased by spirits of some kind?"

He said the last part in jest, but something in him tokd him he was closer to the truth then he thought.

Kazumi watched the white-haired wonder, wondering if it was only her imagination that made it seem like the strange girl was in a big hurry. Already listing the possibilities this could lead to for a blog entry, the storyteller of the supernatural did not break her gaze until the girl collided with someone and fell to the floor.

...Poor girl. Kazumi shook her head slightly, berating herself for the rudeness. Sure, the girl looked like an albino or whatever, but that was no reason to just stare like that! With any luck, she hadn't been noticed.
She should be heading home herself, too. Kazumi walked a few steps forward, and paused. She turned her head towards the girl once more, apparently being tended to by the young man she ran into. From here, she couldn't see how terrified the girl looked, but she was spending an awful long time just sitting there.

With her curiosity flaring up again, Kazumi looked on at the two, hoping she wasn't being too obvious about her staring.

Shi, the Quiet Killer

"..."

Shi's limbs felt dead as she stared up at the man. She didn't know what to do. He was talking, and... and there was her book. He was offering her the book back. The tiny white-haired girl's body trembled, those crimson eyes fixed wide. She was so embarrassed, and in such a panic that she had bumped into someone. And now he was talking to her and reaching out to give her her book back... Shi's mouth opened, and once more no words came out. Finally, her trembling hands raised to slowly take the book, pulling it from the man's hands and quickly clutching it against her chest, as if to use it as a shield. She shimmied back, away from the man, feeling as if he was too close, averting her eyes and looking towards the crowd as she drew her knees up towards her chest, the book between them.

When Shi finally answered his question, her voice was barely a whisper.

"... G... g...g-going... h... h-h-home..."

With that, she shakily rose to her feet and turned, unknowingly facing her observer and proceeding to attempt to quickly walk away. She couldn't handle it, all these people... and she had to hurry. She had to.

Hiroko Muneyama - Takaki's Ramen Shop

As Asami tried to decide on her order, the owner of Takaki's headed off to a customer beside her. She was a rather serious young woman, with long blonde hair (albeit not as long as Asami's), dressed rather casually in just a shirt and jeans. She must have been a regular here, since as soon as the girl saw her she just nodded, wrote down an order and went off to tend to someone else.

"I recommend the pork ramen," the blonde girl suddenly said not long after, turning her attention to Asami. "It's my favourite, at least. Sorry if I'm coming off as rude, but you looked like you were having trouble deciding what to have." Despite her steely expression, there was a subtle warmth to her voice.

"Muneyama... Hiroko. Nice to meet you." With that serious look still plastered on her face, she held out a hand in greetings. "I haven't seen you here before, so I assume you're not a regular."

チェリーハンター

Like a golden ghost, Cherry Hunter stalked through the moonlit streets of Rokuro-shi. Her small, fragile appearance, like a porcelain doll, belied her true nature as a dangerous predator. Even with her heart stolen, her body hobbled and her power mostly gone, she was far and away more powerful than whatever misbegotten humans roamed the streets at night. On bare feet she padded through the winding side streets and alleyways, wandering like the lost spirit that she felt like. That child had ordered her to survey the city, keeping her senses open for any sign of conflict as the White Night approached. The city seemed still at the moment, and so Cherry instead was searching for a meal.

A lone bloodscent intrigued her. This city was of a decent size, and so violence was likely not uncommon, but it would not go unnoticed for long. Cherry slowly tracked the scent, taking a winding path around to the approximate location where she had traced the source. She avoided notice, melding with shadows when passerby approached, and emerging once they had passed. Though it would be easy to kill them if they caused her any trouble, that child objected to such things and had bound her into pacifism.

The scent of blood was reached, in a typical misbegotten alley. A man stood in about in an oblivious daze, bleeding conspicuously from a wound on his neck. Cherry approached cautiously, but the man seemed completely dead to the world around him. As she moved to feed, Cherry got a closer look at his wound. What she saw made her eyes narrow in predatory instinct. Bite marks. Not just that, fang marks. There was another vampire in Rokuro-shi. The man was clearly hypnotized, and likely would remember nothing of the incident, but Cherry could not rule out the possibility that he had been turned. She moved to break his neck, a killing blow while he was still mortal and not yet a threat, but remembered again her master's reservations against killing. Cherry snarled and left the man alone, not bothering to feed on another's leftovers. Cherry melded with the shadows of the alley, and reemerged on the closest rooftop. She had a new bloodscent to track.

Ando Asami, Closer to the Origin?

Asami paused for a moment when she noticed the blonde girl approaching her, and raised one eyebrow slightly. The pork ramen? Well, one of the chief scents she'd smelled when she had entered the shop had been the delicious pork... it sounded like a good option, at the very least. And she didn't want to dawdle here... no. The redheaded mage had no desire to waste her time, not today. She was going to eat her fill and then leave and prepare as much as she could. Still, talking to this girl wouldn't hurt at all, now, would it?

"Thanks for the advice," she said, brightly, "I'm Ando Asami, it's nice to meet you, Muneyama-san."

Asami returned the girl's casual wave with a smile. In spite of how friendly the girl seemed to be, she also looked like she was taking this matter extremely seriously. Perhaps she was just being very serious about her pork ramen? Whatever the case may have been, it made for a quick decision on Asami's meal. This would ease the work of the busy girl behind the counter, as well make it so she got her meal more quickly and as a result could leave just as fast.

Drasinian

To most, the girl's shyness and jitters would've been seen as either cute or strange, but to Drasinian, it was like putting blood in the sea. As the girl turned, she'd miss the look that sparked into his eyes. A look stripped of all humanity, all reason, all logic, only the primal desire and bloodthirsty of the predator. The look lasted but a fleeting second, yet that would be enough for the girl observing the two to catch it if they were paying attention.

After coming back to his senses, Drasinian walked up behind the color, placing a hand on her shoulder as he stared down at her, same smile on his face as before, with no way of gleaming how much he want to slice into her porcelain skin with one if his many scalpels, no clue to tell her how desperately he wanted to hear her cries of agony, taste the fear in her skin. A future target indeed, this tiny little dove, and how delightful it'll be to hear her death song after I'm done plucking her feathers and clipping her wings.

"You sure I can't assist you? These are dangerous times to live, especial for a small girl like yourself. I don't think I'd be able forest easy unless I lead you at least to your neighborhood. I'd hate to find you going missing shortly after today."

As he spoke, he did take notice of the one person in the crowd who had just been standing there for awhile. A potential magus? Or maybe a stalker of the girl. [i]Hehe, either way, I'm sure she'll make a nice placeholder until I get to feast into my current main course of sorrow.

Osamu Akiyama sighed; while it was true that he could not expect to get to the important business at the start of the discussion, nothing was happening as the restaurant had no convenient windows, meaning that he cannot know anything that was happening, which bored him.

Then, all of a sudden, there were...muggers(?) in an alleyway close to where he was, just a few buildings away from the ramen stand. Instinctively, Osamu readied a stunning arrow, letting it go almost as soon as it was conjured up. A mugger collapsed without a scream, and so did his companion. As Osamu didn't want any witnesses, though, he had to knock out the victim with a stunning arrow as well.

She'll survive; and also keep her money and goods. That was the good thing.

Shi, the Quiet Killer

When Shi felt a hand on her slight shoulder, the white-haired girl flinched and immediately pulled away, turning to face the man and clutching the book to her chest, tightly. Why was he following, insisting like this...? Shi couldn't just let someone follow her like that. Her home was intended to be a safehouse, it was where she kept the weapons she could easily transport covertly. And... and he'd be close, and near her home, and that was just something she could barely even think about. Her trembling hands clung tightly to her book, her slender fingers clutching the volume tightly, as her crimson gaze was cast towards the ground, down at her feet. She couldn't even look at him. The slight, small girl was not even sure how to explain that he couldn't follow, and that she would be fine.

Though there was one clear thought in her mind, at the very least.

If he or anyone else followed Shi after she left her home, she had to kill them.

Still unable to raise her head, Shi took a deep, shuddering breath and tried to collect her thoughts in order to speak. Her lips parted slowly as she attempted to respond, slowly backing away.

"... W-w... w... I... b-b-be... b-be f-fine... I-I'll... b-be..."

Naganeru Aryū, Trainee Onmyouji

Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down.

These two words resounded in Aryū's mind at a rhythmic pace. For the past 20 minutes, Aryū had been lifting up her wooden sword and swinging it down at the ground. In her eyes, it was a way to get stronger. At least, that's what she thought. She had only heard of this method on the internet, but it seemed to work for her to get more used to the weight of her wooden blade. After taking a deep breath, Aryū swung her weapon one last time, stopping it right before it hit the grassy ground of a yard.

She had to get stronger. According to her parents, the night was coming. She needed to prepare if she wanted to survive and find someone who would teach her. She was nervous. Even thinking of the night made her arms tremble. Anyone who had not already steeled their nerves for the White Night would be as nervous, if not more, as Aryū. The shaking wouldn't stop. She was truly afraid of her decision to fight in the White Night. Slowly, she walked towards the large tree in the middle of the yard. She placed the blade so it would rest against the tree. She then placed her head against the tree. Ever since she was a child, she would come to the tree. Whenever she was near the tree, she would feel as if she was safe.

Aryū backed off from the tree and grabbed her sword once more. She clenched her fist. There was no more shaking. She was prepared. She was ready for the night. She took one last deep breathe before she prepared her things. Her ofuda (both prepared and unprepared), her pen, her ink, various first aid supplies which she barely understood how to use, and a few snacks. All of them were organized into a single messenger bag.

One shower later, Aryū was ready. She left the safe confines of her home, determined to find someone who she could learn from.

Watching the white girl's reactions to the guy interacting with her, Kazumi started to wonder if he was trying to pull something shady with her. Certainly, it was pretty obvious that the ghost-girl template was intimidated by him in some way, even if she couldn't hear what was being said.
Kazumi rubbed the back of her head, wondering if she should step in. After all, it wasn't any of her business, and if it was a misunderstanding on her part...

...Damn it, that little girl was just too vulnerable-looking.

Kazumi took a deep breath to steady her nerves, and walked towards them, her mind quickly formulating a believable story to tell.

"...Shiro-chan! There you are!" the bespectacled young woman greeted the girl and strange man with a strangely-high-pitched voice. She was already kicking herself for choosing such a cliche name, but it was a bit too late for a do-over. Better to continue on with her masterfully-crafted story.

"Thank you very much for finding her, sit," Kazumi bowed slightly to the man, a forced smile on her face, "Shiro-chan here is my, uh, cousin, visiting from... Poland. She's kind of silly, and ended up lost. How about that?"

Placing a hand over "Shiro's" shoulder, Kazumi gently guided her to turn as she attempted to leave the scene, "thanks again, sorry for the bother!"

This is one of those 'nailed it' moments, right? Kazumi couldn't help but compliment just how well her ruse seemed to be going. Now, as long as the cute girl played along, at least until they were out of his sight, and as long as he didn't insist on following them for some reason, there would clearly be no reason to doubt her story!

Thrillseeking Bloodsucker

Having stopped off to collect her car, Elizabeth pulled up outside of a house that, as far as she knew, belonged to a line of onmyouji. Or at least it had up until the last war, so it was quite likely that the Wakahisa were still here. Though they weren't necessarily interested in the ritual, they might be interested in the inevitable magi moving in to pick fights. Another ally against anyone unscrupulous couldn't be passed up... or someone that could safely have the ritual foisted upon them.

Getting out, the vampire readjusted her hood to make sure it covered everything, then rang the bell at the entrance of the traditionally styled and built property. There'd been a little girl here last time, hadn't there? She must've grown up by now, and it'd be interesting to see just how much.

Weapon of the Church

As her exploration continued, the nun came across a rather odd sight. A white-haired girl, a white haired young man, and someone that actually fit in with the surroundings rather than sticking out almost as much as she did. From what Lucrezia could observe as she approached from the other end of the street, the man seemed to be harassing the other two. Mindful that it was her duty to help others as much as it was to destroy monsters, the tall Executor stepped forward as the normal girl gave some story about her lost cousin.

Lucrezia didn't believe it for a minute, if only because nothing about the tiny albino seemed Polish.

"I trust that you are not harassing these girls?"

Drasinian

"Hmmm, for a foreigner, she sure does speak Japanese exceptionally well. Not even a hint of an accent. . . how very curious, indeed." Drasinian spoke with a heavy-air of skepticism, not believing a word the girl had stated for a number of reasons. Behind that, however, was a playful sadism as he began to take steps to follow them. He's planned to kill the observer now and save the dove for later, but know was as good a time as any. Just follow them from a distance until it was time to strike. However, his plan was halted as a voice called to him from behind, causing him to turn around to address the speaker.

Well now, this is a nice surprise. Seems like even the Church has sent their stooges to paint this town red. Funny how an organization that deems magic evil also uses it themselves and is after the Origin. Then again, the Church has always been full of blatant hypocrisy since ut, beginnings, so it's really no surprise.

While some may have assumed the woman to just be your average cosplayer, decades of experience told the homunculus otherwise. From the way she spoke to her way of standing, this woman exuded the aura of a killer, you just had to know what to look for. The nun's question was met with a less than cordial smile, Deasinian letting his mask slip a little as he spoke so as to gauge her reaction.

"Perish the thought, I was only worried cause one of them's shaking like a leaf and the other is a very bad lier. Plus, you never know what can happen to young girls like these on a night like tonight. They might get caught in something they shouldn't have and end up on the front page news. I simply offered to walk them at least partway to their destination, so as to ease my conscious." His words seemed kind, but his tone was cold and subtly menancing. The smile that he gave the nun was one full of sin and dark intentions, as if he were saying, 'I'm going to do horrible things to these girls, and there is nothing you can do to stop it.' It was a somewhat subtle taunt, but whether she got it or not, this woman's actions would decide if the two girls would live through the night or meet a horrid fate at his hands.

What's it going to be, Enforcer, what's it going to be.
