What's really shameful is that you make uneducated jabs without any knowledge as to what the story was to be.

I'd be more partial to a factional map but that be no reason to not maintain the cultures you speak of. There can still be colonialism and there can still be "European Dominance". We can just cluster the great powers in one area and have a whole world to colonize.

Also that way people can make things like Dwarven Scandinavia or French Empire lead by elvish Napoleon. It increases the amount of resources you can play around with. Also make it easy to populate the rest of the world with NPCs.
Lastly in your previous game everyone not explicitly a minor nation was the size of USA, China or Russia. We were mega nagtions. With people being mostly concentrated in Europe this could change.
