Then you ARE talking about ethnic Russians who are born on Ukrainian soil. I don't know if it is the same there, if someone is born there they are a citizen automatically, but obviously these people have voting rights in the Ukraine. They are citizens of that country and you would just round them up and ship them off to Russia despite the fact that the Ukraine is their home. That's a completely rediculous and far fetched idea, not to mention inhumane. As you say, there is an older population of ethnic Ukrainians as well as Russians voting for a Russian friendly government. They do this because they remember the slightly better days under the Soviet regime. While the younger generation has a more Western outlook thanks to the ability to access information that their parents and grandparents never had. The youth has every right to protest, they're citizens, hell I support their cause. But saying to get rid of whole population of people because they're not playing right is just silly and dangerous.

Once again, for maybe the fourth or fifth time now: I don't think all Russians, in the sense of having Russian background or speaking Russian, should be removed from Ukraine. Those who stubbornly persist to only be Russian and wish to remain in their commieblock in Ukraine instead of moving to an identical commieblock a little bit to the east SHOULD, however, leave. Preferably voluntarily. The only reason something like a deportation would ever be necessary is if they refuse to leave, which the more than twenty years since the break-up of the Soviet Union and the continued existence of massive Russian minorities in the Baltics and Ukraine, as well as the continued existence and popularity of pro-Kremlin parties in the aforementioned countries would seem to infer.

Stated simply: Russians outside of Russia want Russia to come to them. Non-Russians in those same countries want the Russians in their country to go to Russia. I would favour the opinions of Estonians in Estonia, Latvians in Latvia, Lithuanians in Lithuania and Ukrainians in Ukraine over the opinion of Russians in those four countries.

So only the ones that don't agree with a pro-Western government. How democratic of you.

I try to avoid blanket statements, but pro-Kremlin parties are notorious for being corrupt and autocratic. Look at Belarus, for instance. I don't think favour should be given to those people who support a pro-Western government, but favour should indeed be given to those people who support a democratic government.

The best part is that there is 0 point to this debate. Neither side truly wants to move from where they stand rendering the whole debate useless. Nex can have his opinion as is his right whether people disagree with said opinion or not. To be honest it is just as valid as any of the other opinions stated by others. So stop the pissing contest people.

I'm supportive of those protesters in the Ukraine for wanting to not be chained to Russia anymore but I dislike the idea of doing mass deportations as a way to solve an issue. It's a dangerous road to start in on. Making the ethnic divides even more obvious and setting neighbor against neighbor even more than is already happening. Ukrainians have a lot of reasons to hate the Russians historically but to become a functioning democracy they have to work with all the groups of people in the country. Part of what democracy does is protect the minorities, whether they be political, ethnic, or racially part of a smaller group within the nation so they are not run over by the majority. The protesters have a valid arguement and should be heard, it's sad that it had to get to this point.

I think you're getting the wrong idea in your head when I say that Russians should move from Ukraine. I don't mean "the government has confiscated your possessions, move to Russia or be shot". There are programs that already exist between the Baltic and Russian governments to relocate Baltic Russians into Russia proper. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Ok so this is my final word on this subject because we're going around a merry-go-round. You never mentioned these programs in your orginal statements which sound much more aggressive. And if these programs exist, then people already know about them and perhaps choose not to do so. They may have family or a business they don't want to leave. And maybe you should spell out your position a little more clearly, because when you say "Russians should have to move out of the Ukraine" it sounds pretty bad.

Is Florida considered a part of the south?

Florida isn't even like the south though. Like, they're south, but so different from everyone. More like the west coast.

Actually, to be fair, I conceded that it may be fair to ask a degree of assimilation in a cultural aspect (but not in terms of their political ideology or choice of party). Still, I don't think they're doing it for anything more than fun and interest. I was just doing it because it's fun. There's debating in search of truth/understanding, debating for the purpose of propagating your viewpoint, and there's debating for interest and fun. This seems to be the last.

That depends on where you go, it really does vary a lot by region. The panhandle, where this shooting took place, is pretty traditionally southern.
