Turt said There are no white gangs, so it's ok.

Except for the WP biker gangs, prison gangs, and neo nazis.

At first when I read re-hash I thought it was a new twitter thing.

That would be cool to integrate it to facebook or twitter. It should be a completely voluntary thing though

It's bad that it happens, discrimination's bad all around, but systematic/legal discrimination bugs me more than gangs being assholes. Gangs aren't considered part of the norm/default, and their actions aren't considered or argued to be acceptable or just. They don't have legal authority over anyone, either. Which you will see with cases like these. An African American would never get away with trying to justify doing the same thing to someone white as the reverse does.

Worst thing is people who go on about how the U.S. is actually discriminatory against people who have traditionally had more rights and power, and this is all just a fantasy created to justify and perpetuate that discrimination.

I forgot the biggest gang of all, the government officials. Organized crime.

It's not just skin color, you see it with wealth, too. There was a case in Texas where a woman who was white, educated, and well off who also happened to favor the combination of Ambian and wine. She drove under the influence and ran off the road, hitting and killing a mother and her baby. Then there is the recent "affluenza" case that allowed a 16 year old who killed four people when he was 3x the legal limit to go to a posh rehab place that costs about half a million a year that his parents will pay for rather than to juvenile detention. Their argument was partially based on the fact that the kid was spoiled and was raised to get everything he wanted and never had any consequences thus rendering him unable to make good judgement. If that's the case, the punishment is just enabling him again. There are many cases where it seems as if having money vs not having money is the only difference and the punishments reflect that.

Speaking on discrimination, Arizona passed a law that is set to go to the governors desk that says that one can turn service away from gay people based on "religious compulsion".

Oh shit, that's what they did in Kansas. Does it include government workers as well?

General rule: if you only look at ridiculous cases, then every case is ridiculous.

I think you're thinking of Kansas, unless it happened again.

It's starting up in several states now. Apparently it's the new trend in the conservative playbook. Idaho, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Arizona, Ohio, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Hawaii (they're mad that everyone teases them about the Rainbow Warriors apparently). All of these states are introducing laws similar to the Kansas law.

First I'm hearing of the Arizona bill - I know the Kansas one included gov't employees.

Then there's Texas, who restricts the ability to run for political office by whether or not you believe in God. (Article 1, Section 4)

I'll be honest, the South has really been letting me down lately.

As long as it's only concerning private businesses then I don't care. The minute it becomes an excuse to deny public (or emergency or basic) services based on discrimination (as with Kansas), that's the minute I become a big bag of pissed off.

Same here. I don't think a private business should be sued because they refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding.

That being said, I don't think it should be allowed to be aggressively anti-homosexual. Like they can't put a sign on a cafe that says 'use the back door, faggots' or some Jim Crowe-type shit. A business should have the right to refuse service within reason.

I'll drink with you. Although, there is quite a few here that believe that the gay marriage ban should be struck down. It could be. And with how well Colorado is doing, we might see legal weed spread quickly throughout the states. At least where we live, Idle, there is an ordinance that protects gays from discrimination due to orientation, but as we know, it could be struck down by law.

If I didn't have to work in the morning, I sure would be looking for the bottom of that rum bottle. Today's been shit from the start. Reading all this stuff, just makes me pissed off and it's useless.

Haha I told my friend about this thread and he sent me this.

That about sums it up for my last four hours.

@ Nex: Really?

Nope. Gonna go home and drink, watch a movie, or have sex, something other than this.
