"You're right, Iris. Good idea." Kip didn't particularly want to be a leader, but she would step up if needed. Nonetheless, she wasn't going to make decisions and expect them to be followed. "If anyone here needs to go get something, health potions, new weapons, whatever, I suggest you do it now. We can meet up here, if that's okay with everyone."

@Tracyarmav

Just after he killed another mob, TsuMeTai heard the little noise that signified a new PM. Opening it, his lips quirked into a small smile. Cin was one of the very few people he had befriended in SAO so far; one of two, actually. He wrote back quickly.

"Of course I remember, and yeah, I'm up for it. Be there soon. Oh, and Cin? Call me Tsu."

Abandoning his EXP farming, TsuMeTai headed off towards Cin's location. Thankfully, it wasn't too long of a walk. He should be there shortly.

"More than okay with me, meet you all back here in about an hour. Don't take too long, it's gonna get dark, guys!" Iris gave them all a thumbs up and a wink, already opening her menu as she began to walk away, in a direction she noticed the least amount of people going towards. The Starting City was big, but with the large amount of people, most shops would be empty, it was even likely some already were. Based on what her menu told her, she needed new clothes and armor, a new weapon, food and various other supplies. The short sword she had taken as her starting weapon was weak and it was already low on its durability, she'd have to replace it fast and with her starting clothes' stats, she'd be better off naked. There were shops in all directions, but with the time, even NPC's would be closing soon, so as soon as she left the plaza, giving a grin and a wave to the rest of the party, she glanced around her, making a quick visual scouting. Signs pointed to there being shops in a certain direction, down a road that she did see a group of rather gloomy looking players walking down. Right now, they were the competition, it was survival of the fittest. She had money, a good sum, from not wasting her starting cash and managing to earn some from killing monsters, but it was useless if she didn't get moving.

For a moment, earlier, she considered dragging Matsuta along for his beta tester knowledge and to annoy him, but she reconsidered when she realized that he was simply too slow, in many senses of the term, for this particular mission. She'd have to rely on her own eyes and skills of reconnaissance. She smirked, before making a flat expression, prepared herself, before breaking into a sprint. Even at low levels, the NerveGear gave a lot more stamina than the average person in good health for gameplay purposes, so she took full advantage of this. Emotions couldn't slow her down, good or bad, this was for sure, she remarked as she sped past the Doom and Gloom Squad. At each turn, she slowed for only a moment to observe the street she was on, and sure enough, shops with a larger and wider stock were becoming closer with each bend she took. Right on time, as soon as she found herself getting tired, she found herself in front of a decently stocked NPC store, with a few stalls out front. Right, so the stalls have weapons and armor, and the store has supplies, this shouldn't take long.

Iris checked the time as she caught her breath, being quite surprised when she realized she had already been running for fifteen minutes. Walking back would take about thirty or so minutes by that measure, so she couldn't waste any time. Weapons that were available weren't the best, there were a few uncommon ones mixed in with the lower-level ones, but they were way above her budget. Eventually, she settled for buying a pair of efficient looking machetes, sharp and simple, but with decent stats for her use, one for use now and another in case the former broke, SAO's durability system could be a bit unforgiving, apparently. They would have trouble stabbing, but her combat style consisted of mostly slashing for the time being anyway. Next, armor. She decided on making a set consisting of some new boots with a minor agility buff, shorts out of personal preference, a tight compression shirt as an undershirt, a jacket with hard leather protection, some slightly better protecting gloves than the starters and, finally and most importantly for her combat style, a bronze armor piece of a larger suit to wear on her left arm, rigid enough to defend against some slashs here and there. All in a khaki color except for the bronze armor, the boots and the shirt, she had to admit she looked pretty good. By her standards, anyway.

The rest took less time, deciding to keep enough money for an inn stay if needed and spending the rest on potions, food and drinks. In the end, she even had enough money to buy enough sandwiches to give to the entire party, as they were on "first day discount" or something along those lines, and with a smile from the NPC shopkeeper, a kind looking young lady, she left with the store with a good stock of supplies, now leisurely walking down the street back to the plaza, a basket in tow. Technically, she could put each sandwich in her inventory, but this felt more natural. She briefly wondered how they tasted, refraining once her stomach began rumbling. "Let's get going before I eat all these..." She muttered to herself with a worried laugh. Though... she began to think as she looked at the sandwiches...

Right on time, she arrived back in the square, grinning and licking her lips as she leaned against a pillar, waiting for the rest of the group. It's incredible how they managed to make such incredible sandwiches, virtually! I can't wait for seconds!. Iris began humming cheerfully, forgetting the shocking revelations of the day as she relished in the after taste of the food she ate, excited to share the feeling with the rest of the group. Everyone but Matsuta, a thought which only served to make her humming more lively and her smile wider, as the snack meant for him virtually sat in her virtual stomach.

Mai'lo glanced at the little floating icon that was always in his view. His HP was completely full. He'd leveled up several times and split his points where he wanted to focus his strengths. If things went according to plan he should be an extremely formidable opponent soon.

A quick check of his inventory told him he was pottery well equipped already for his level and amount of funds that he had available.

"I'm pretty stocked up already, to be honest," he admitted. "I just need to equip my gear and I'll be good to go."

He swiped at the air in front of him and started equipping his armor. A blackened set of leather armor fit snug across his broad frame, simple but sturdy. His boots included a low AGI buff.

That should help some, at least, he thought. His hand hovered over a weapon in his inventory for a moment but he closed the window a moment later without touching it and leaned back against the nearest wall, arms crossed over his chest as he waited for the rest of their team.

"Any ideas where we should go first, Kip?" He asked. "I'm not familiar with the layout yet, beyond the fields outside of town."

Kip's items were all satisfactory, at least for now. She had managed to walk the line between saving money and getting the best gear she could. By the time they reached the next city, she might need an upgrade, but that was yet to be determined.

"I know a few good EXP grinding spots." Kip replied to Mai'lo's question. "We can hit a few on our way to the next town. Hopefully the other beta testers haven't cleaned them out yet."

A satisfied snicker returned back to the square as Sapphira arrived at the pillar Iris was leaning against. She had gotten great discounts from the NPC vendors, not entirely voluntarily on their accounts, though. Never would she have believed that her tricks were actually working on the NPC's and so she managed to acquire a tower shield, that almost hid all of her body, and a spear, one and a half times longer than herself.
Since she didn't exactly know how the inventory system worked, she had also bought a wooden cart for all the loot that was to be collected.

"Oi, Iri!", she called out. "You're the first one here?" Internally she sighed, though. Hello Captain Obvious...
"Ooh! Sandwiches! Are they for us?", she asked excitedly and grinned from ear to ear. However, she didn't even wait for Iris' response and wolfed down a sandwich. "Mmmh, tasty!", Sapphi exclaimed her ears folding back slightly in pleasure.

Matsuta stood staring at the sky whilst everyone around him went away to buy things. Matsuta we should go shopping too. Matsuta? Matsuta? Matsuta where the fuck are you? Piss... he thought, still looking up as the others started to come back. Then he walked away to a shop pretty close to the area he was which sold weapons and armour. He bought a new blade, and then left, heading to the shop directly next to it. There he bought a small vial of unknown liquid before heading back to where the fox girl was. Damnit Matsuta where the hell did you run off to? MATSUTA! he screamed in his head; searching for Matsuta ID #2476. Standing beside the fox girl, he began equipping his new blade.
"So is anyone gonna get some food? I'm a bit hungry and no one seems to have gone to get any." he said to the other 3 people around him, even looking directly at Iris but with a look of "Look at that wall". Matsuta for fuck sakes, get your ass back here. But I don't want to go back to the brain, Matsuta. You don't have a choice Matsuta. It's your job! I don't care Matsuta; my job can wait. And what were you even doing in the lungs again, Matsuta? I was... You were smoking again, weren't you? No... he thought, breathing out slightly and releasing a puff of black smoke. Oh for god sakes Matsuta, I said you cant do things like that in here. And why the hell not? God you're no fun. That's not the point! Then what is!? Matsuta turned around and saw a butterfly, only to start chasing it around whilst completely ignoring his group.
"Heh... Butterfly... Butt... Buttserfly... Heh..."

Mai'lo eyed Matsuta. The man had ignored every bit of the comings and goings around him as if they hadn't existed or were beneath his notice. Then he suddenly breathed out a puff of black smoke and started chasing a butterfly around.

"Are we sure he's alright?" He asked, a little nervously. "Cause I'll be honest, he's kinda freaking me out."

Cin was grateful for the quick reply, and made a note to just use Tsu when addressing his friend. He smiled at that, he had friends. He'd never had those before. But this was a new world, a new life, a fresh start, truly cin vhetin. Cin sent a party request to Tsu, so they'd be able to see each other on their map. Then, seeing a mob a little ways off the path lurking behind a hedge, that the group had missed, he grinned, checked his health, and drank a potion to fill the bar before engaging the monster.

Thirty seconds and three potions later, Cin was glad he'd started this one at full health. He'd forgotten to check the mob's level and that had cost him a third of his health in a single hit. Still, Cin had fought on confident that he could best the monster. And he had, though he'd been in the red himself when he was done. Now he was back into the green but not quite full and out of potions to boot. He spotted Tsu coming towards him, and Waved excitedly, ready to share the joy of his latest experience, though he doubted he'd be challenging anything else three levels above him alone again, especially since they'd only be getting nastier from here on out. The loot box icon still hung before him, unopened, he wanted to wait for Tsu to see what he'd gotten.

"Yeah, he's an odd one." And that was coming from a person who created her avatar based on a permanently drunken pirate and an insane mind mage. Kip watched Matsuta with a hint of nervousness. "I find it hard to believe that he's a beta tester."

When the party invite from Cin popped up, TsuMeTai was a bit too busy to reply immediately. He killed the monster that was bold enough to ambush him, and then hit accept. A short while later, Cin himself came into view. A slight smile quirked his lips as he watched his friend wave excitedly.
"What's got you so excited?" TsuMeTai called. "It must be pretty good." With that, he walked up to Cin and offered his hand. "Well met, my friend."

"Hahaha, you might say that. I got a little cocky and picked a fight with a monster three levels higher than me. It was close, but I beat it. And I'm about to open the loot box to see what it dropped.

I select the loot box and am somewhat disappointed, as I receive only a single item. Even worse, it's a shield. I can't use those unless I switch to some tiny little toy of a weapon, and I wasn't about to do that. I'd really come to love my Halberd, though I'd need a new one in a few more levels. Sighing dejectedly I offer the shield to you, since I can't use it. I don't notice that it is a rare item, never having seen one before, but even if I had noticed I'd still give it to you if you wanted it.

Awww, it's just a shield. I can't even use those... Hey Tsu can you use this? I'll trade you a potion or two, I kinda had to burn my last three on killing this monster.

Cin admit's sheepishly. He had been hoping to get some really good boots or gloves but he figured if Tsu could use the shield it'd be worth the three potions it took to kill the monster, and he did still have the very nice experience reward from the kill. Cin hadn't given much thought to what to do when Tsu arrived, but he wanted to continue leveling and working towards the boss and the next level of SAO. It probably wouldn't hurt to find a few more team mates along the way either. Thoughts of tomorrow stirred in his sub consciousness but or now only now resided in the focus of his mind.

Soon enough, the group began to come back. Mai'lo and Kip had stayed, as Iris had a feeling they would, considering it seemed they had gotten something better than the starter armor and weapons a while ago, but eventually, the rest slowly came back. The first was Sapphira, who seemed to have gotten a good deal, to say the least. A large wood cart was pulled behind her and Iris was torn between being impressed at her negotiating skills and being amused by her not figuring out how the inventory worked. At the very least, she had managed to get a lot of probably useful things, so Iris was satisfied indeed. She smiled when Sapphira called her out, waving to her as she finished up her humming rendition of a miscellaneous song. "Yup, that'd be me!" Iris bowed playfully as she answered her first question, Sapphira approaching her at a startling rate for her size. "These sandwiches were on sale, so I bought them fo-" Iris was cut off by Sapphira grabbing a sandwich and quite literally wolfing it down. A fitting term, she mused as the fox girl grinned widely and she was even more taken aback when her ears actually moved from the pleasure of eating it. Kayaba, don't tell me you did this on purpose... she remarked to herself with a bewildered expression... It was simply too much to be a glitch at this point... Still, at least she enjoyed it, now she just had to give the others theirs, with one exception. Oh, how she simply couldn't wait for seconds! "Glad you enjoyed it!" She cheered as she gave her an amicable pat on the shoulder.

Now then... Mai'lo and Kip seemed to be talking, so she'd get to them in a sec, first, she'd have her fun with Matsuta. It was time to take her revenge! She was about to begin walking over when she saw him looking with a hungry expression in her direction! Perfect! Except... he had a look of her being completely invisible. "W-what..." she murmured to herself as she gripped the basket handle with white knuckles. After doing so, he went back to blankly staring at things, miming the motion of puffing smoke and then muttering about butterflies. Mai'lo asked if he was alright to Kip and Iris definitely echoed their sentiments. She was mad now, stomping over. Rather than taunting him with the lack of sandwich for him, she instead decided to grab the one she kept for herself at of her inventory, furiously swiping and tapping through the menu until the sandwich was in her hand. She stood in front of him, holding the sandwich firmly. "Hey Matsuta..." she said with a false tone of kindness, before she threw the sandwich, the bread and contents all glowing from the use of a skill. "How's this for invisible?!" She yelled as the sandwich sailed towards him. Now making an about face without even waiting for the short-range ballistic sandwich to make contact, she turned and dropped the basket in Kip's hands. "Food, for you two." The young woman muttered angrily before stalking back to Sapphira.

Iris breathed deeply. A few moments passed of her making heavy breaths before she returned to normal, smiling at Sapphira. "So, all that aside, what did you buy?"

Mai'lo perked up a bit after hearing mention of food and one hand snapped out, lightning fast, and lifted a sandwich from the basket. He didn't understand why she threw a sandwich at Matsuta but shrugged it off and bit into the food anyway.

"It's weird that we have to eat. It's not like these are real bodies that are exerting energy. Our bodies are lying in bed in the real world doing nothing at all. This is all just in our heads." He shrugged and took another bite. "Oh well. At least it tastes good. Thanks for the food," he added with a nod in Iris' direction.

"I don't know about everyone else but I think we need to level up as quickly as possible. Staying strong is the main way we're going to survive in here and that's not just thinking about the monsters." He nodded toward Kip as he he took the last bite of his sandwich and tossed the wrapper on the ground which shattered into shards of light and disappeared.

"Kip says she knows some good spots to EXP farm. If we head out now we should be able to camp partway and really get to work in the morning, sound about right?" He added the last to Kip directly and prayed he hadn't just sounded like a complete idiot.

Matsuta walked after the butterfly, spurting random nonsense about butts as he did. Then he heard his name coming from the girl he had decided to ignore. Matsuta, protocol 742 has been breached. Thats good, now we can have another ally. Yes, but she is annoying. It doesn't matter; we don't want to die yet, right Matusta? I guess your right. he thought looking directly at the girl as the sandwich flew towards him at strange speeds.
"Oh hey, I didn't see you before. You must be new-" he was cut off with the realisation that a sandwich was now hurtling towards him. With instinct, he drew his blade to slice said projectile out of the air. He had little success, as the sandwich split in two across his blade and shattered on impact. With this he looked at the girl. Matsuta, we can't use protocal 742 for a while longer. Then what do we do? Kill her? No this is a safe zone. Fuck, what do we do. I don't know! "Uh, who are you and why did you throw your sandwich at me? I could've eaten that! Better yet the butterfly could have eaten it. Oh well..." he said, walking up to the fox one and the other two, "Do we know her? I haven't seen her before..." he finished to the others, returning his blade to its scabbard and looking over his character sheet. Seeing her name as Iris, he tried to recall any memories he had of her; and failing.
"Well then for introductions. My name is Matsuta and I was originally a beta tester. And you are?" he asked the new girl, trying to forget the sandwich until they got to a point where no one would find her body. Wait, it was SAO. Okay then, wait until there was no one around to witness her body turn into pixie dust. Matsuta we cant kill her. Why not. Because she is our ally. But she threw a sandwich at us. yes, but we need to forgive her for a while. Fine, but the first chance we get we leave her for dead. Deal. he thought, looking at her expectantly.

"A shield, huh?" TsuMeTai contemplated it for a few minutes. He was strong enough to wield his sword with one hand; after all, it was meant to be held with one or two hands. Could he add a shield to that? Probably, yes. "If you don't want it, I think I can use it." That said, he accessed his inventory and sent four HP potions to Cin. He had made sure to stock up, so he still had plenty more.

"Yeah, that's right. We'd have to set up a rotating guard if we camp out in the danger zone, but we'd get a head start on the people who are staying here for the night." Kip replied to Mai'lo, before heading over to keep Matsuta from killing himself with stupidity.
"Matsuta, she's been here for a while. You've just been completely ignoring her - that's very rude, by the way - and you deserved the attempted attack by sandwich." Kip frowned at Matsuta. "Now, can we please try to get along?"

"Yeah, I can't use it, and I need the pots way more than I need the cash, so it yours mate."

I move the item from my inventory, sending it to Tsu and accepting the four health pots. I consider popping one now, but now that we're working together I'm confident enough that I decide to save them in case I really need them. I look around and see more mobs spawning and mark one, indicating I was ready to go when you were, though I wait in case you wanted to try the shield on or something. I grin eagerly and ready my Halberd to strike, but watch you, ready to let you take the lead on this attack. You had demonstrated that you knew how to read the monsters better than I did, so I was content to follow your lead in combat.

"Thanks." TsuMeTai decided to try out the shield, equipping it and watching materialize in his hand. It was sturdy, but not overly heavy; he drew his sword, trying a few practice slashes. A single nod indicated his satisfaction. "Shall we play?" He shot a grin at his companion and sized up the monster. "We can take this one." With that, he dashed forwards, landing a hit on the monster before blocking its attack with his new shield.

Cin charges forward just behind Tsu, and to his left, slamming the Halberd's ax head down into the monster before jabbing it with the spear tip, in a short combo that nicked a large chunk of the monster's health away. Cin then darted back as the monster turned to face him, and swing at him with sharp claws. Tumbling into a backwards roll down the slight slope, Cin stayed just out of reach, and manged to come up back on his feet swinging his massive weapon around for another strike at the monster should it follow him down slope. His health bar was nearly full again by now, clearly his investment in the Con stat was paying off, as was the Str investments, allowing him to wield such a hefty weapon with relative ease. Cin loved the rush of adrenaline that came with every fight and the high that came from besting yet another monster. Having Tsu here served to further boost his confidence, and serve as a safety net of sorts, allowing Cin to play a little more recklessly than he might otherwise dare to play.

"Mhh?" Sapphira looked up to Iris again. "What did I buy? Well... this spear and this shield and a good bunch of different potions. And I managed to get some really good bargains on some ingredients for food and stuff as well as a nice kettle." Again Sapphira grinned.
"Did you know that it was reaaaally easy to haggle down the price by quite a bit? I still have some money left even."
As the others mentioned the idea to start moving, Sapphira simply started to walk. "Well, then, what are we waiting for?" She turned around while now walking backwards. "I'll take first watch!", she exclaimed.

Whenever Cin backed off, TsuMeTai darted in; when Cin attacked, TsuMeTai jumped back. Between them, they were keeping the monster on it's toes. It was a good thing that he had been working on his Str and Spd stats; he could keep this up for quite some time. All too soon, the monster was gone, disappearing into sparkling lights. "Ready for another bout?" He grinned at Cin.

"I guess we're leaving, then?" Kip shrugged, checking to make sure her weapon was equipped and ready before following Sapphira.

Cin grinned nodding an looking around for a new target. Instead he saw another group of players running along farming the path... and osik, this time their was someone else on the path. A hooded figure hurrying to get to the next town before dark, oblivious to the group approaching from behind. Cin Vhetin snarls as the group closes around the lone figure, clearly bullying the player. They hadn't noticed Cin or Tsu, standing just inside the trees to side of the path on a slight rise. Cin hated bullies, and this time he could finally fight back, and it looked like these chumps were a couple levels behind him and Tsu anyway, so the six of them wouldn't be that much hassle right? He glances at Tsu, looking for the signal to jump the group.

We can take these punks, you with me?
