That's definitely what I was going for, but more so, Trainer takes the runt of a litter and raises it alongside him. I was considering playing a female role however, but that's still up in the air right now. I think it could be pretty interesting being recruited; noticed for their experience in pokemon taming, care, etc. I'm definitely interested in the whole 'interacting with wild pokemon' aspect. I love when innocent topics are given a realistic, or dark twist, but for me that makes the world more interesting. So I can definitely see myself pushing for a character that has a heavy interest in researching and understanding wild and tamed pokemon.

what's the age range our characters should be in? i'm thinking of having a girl who applied and gets a flying starter. maybe rufflet?

@c3p-0htechnically about 16 to 20. (Past twenty you'd likely have ranked up). If reasons are good enough then other ages could be accepted.

Also, are any of our characters allowed to have back stories? Such as coming from a different town or area? Or are we all going to be natives of Letchworth and therefore are only able to have pokemon from the area?

@Izuriel Steam You'd have to absolutely blow me away to be from out of town. People from outside of the towns overall are 2nd to 3rd class citizens. People from other towns are accepted, but to be a trainer in Letchworth you have to be from Letchworth. With certain circumstances it could be allowed, but you'd have to really sell it, and even then they'd be limited to being from another town like Rushing (a town I've put over in Niagara Falls) or Vint (a town down at the Pennsylvanian border)

Also, how will our pokemon be chosen? And aren't we going to at least have a variation in our skill levels?

@Izuriel Steam Well the story starts in spring. Time of new life, new chances, and heavy rainstorms. It'll be somewhere in april, and the Oak recruits have been book learning all winter. The bronze trainers, most of whom have served at least two years, have gotten some work done, but now things kick into high gear.

Oaks can be complete noobs to just verging on becoming bronze. Same with bronze but to silver of course. This doesn't mean years, but rather a combination of experience and skill. You won't be bronze just for showing off, but you also won't be bronze just for being oak for oh so long. Oaks to top class bronze covers a pretty solid amount of time.

Everyone except brand new recruits will have their pokemon. Technically recruits will have decided them already, but ownership is given during a public event where they are officiated to all the town as trainers. Exclusions exist such as a trainer using a pet pokemon who is not trained and such, but it's not super common. Most trainer pokemon are captured with the assistance of a silver trainer (of which there are about 6 in Letchworth. 2 gold. Jaklo and his long time partner in crime(stopping) Alice. maybe 15 bronze. Then 10 or so oak. 33 total in a town of about 350-450)

In the meantime, as far as the pokemon we decide upon as individuals, can we wait on deciding what will we chose and/or will be chosen for us? I'm not 100% decided on what I want thus far. I have a brilliant apocalypse character in mind, but I'm having trouble fitting him with a pokemon that would make a good partner.

Also, I forget if pokeballs will be a thing of the past or if we will use them...? I imagine that they would be sparse, if any, and would probably be considered somewhat "radical," or am I totally mistaken?

@Izuriel Steam don't forget this is all very long after the fall. Life is good but work is hard and the trainers sadly don't get many holidays. This is no apocalypse anymore. People live in real houses with electricty and plumbing, and lots of other amenities. Eveything is just done safer for the enviroment. Solar and wind are huge. Even some pokemon power is used. Electric types with donate a bit of power here and there. Fire types heat steam generators. All done in short safe amounts its a healthy discharge of energy which we then harness.

Now I'll try to be more cleae about your pokemon. You receive whatever pokemon your character and the silver trainet caught. You would only catch a pokemon you want.catching wild pokemon is done by proving worth. You show that you are strong and can help them be strong or you might show that you can help and care for them or you might best them in witts showing you can teach them. An oak trainer could only do this with little pokemon. The silver is there as back up and guidance.

Pokeballs work off the radiant aura energy of pokemon and are totally normal. Crafted with apricorns and modern tech pokeballs are still key. They do not imprison pokemon, but rather just hold those who accept the trainer.

Seems things have calmed down around the thread so I'm looking over everyone as the starting group, and we should have good numbers. Again I'm very busy until the 5th so please keep thinking, and remember as much world as I've made there are places that have openings for your input. Largely in the town itself, and landmarks around it. Yes Letchworth has a real map that any one can find on google, but outside the park has been entirely changed so we can make whatever we want out there.

Actually, I do have one question. Do we decide what we and our trainer find? Or... how will that work?

@needlingAsklepios Wild pokemon are for the most part NPCs. you guys can throw in little ones whenever you want. Basically based on what pokemon we have you have to show pokemon weaker than that. Ill take care of the big stompy ones.

But yeah been working away in my spare time. little bits here and there. It'd be nice to just have this Saturday three or four more times. Could get a lot done. For now I've been reorganizing all of the info here and getting it set into a nice concise OOC. I've been hoping to make a map for you all, but my art skills are limited to paint by number :P (see avatar for recolored scyther.)

Which reminds me! no shiny pokemon. Every pokemon can come in EVERY color. sorry always found it a bit silly that colors are perfectly the same across all pokemon. you can have your pokemon be whatever color you want.

Oh god.... I MUST have a gardevoir now at some point. Also, if you give me an idea of what you want, like a rough sketch, I might be able to have my sister make a detailed drawing then scan it and send it to you. She is really dang good

@needlingAsklepios It's all a weird concept. it's basically shrink the atlantic and add land bridges in canada, florida and a few in south america.

Hmmmmmmmm. If you can give me a like... line sketch? Like, point out the places where the bridges would be, as well as any major landmarks, I'll ask her to make a map.

How about something akin to a regular map but if Antartica melted?
And whatever region of the world we want, the USA was just the first example I found.

Well we are in NY. Letchworth is exactly where it would be on a world map. The point of changing the map is to make it easy to get to other biomes. I think i'll just shrink the ocean a little.
