No real plot summary or details for you yet, but I thought I'd put this out there to guage interest for an RP based on Maruyama's Overlord light novels (not the web novel, but some ideas may be borrowed). The idea is to play as a group of YGGDRASIL players stranded in the New World like Ainz Ooal Gown, focusing on surviving, forging alliances, and establishing a power base for you and your guildmates, all while watching how your actions impact the impressionable people of the New World who are unaccustomed to figures of such great power as players.

Ideally I'm looking for a group of 5-6 core players who can dedicate their time on a regular basis (once a day to maybe a few posts every week at a minimum) to a free-flowing but still rather plot-heavy RP. You will be playing as members of a middling and as of yet unnamed guild, and anyone who wants to create or play as guild NPCs like the Guardians is welcome to.

I'm new to the guild but I've been roleplaying formally for about 4 years now.

I'd like to play some kind of Enchantress or other support-like character that can give allies a buff to their abilities.

Here's a preview of what part of my first post maybe could look like:

Eyes slowly opening, Suiko's head hurt. Where was she? Is this... the new world? This can't be right. She tried to activate the logout sequence, but it failed. Again. Again. Hmm. Well, she might as well get in some levels while she's here. She looked around the unfamiliar landscape; she hadn't explore this part of the world before. Breathing in the fresh new area scent, she gazed at the massive rolling plains before her. Maybe she was given beta-tester access because she had played the game for so long. She put on a gathering sack and started picking up flowers that she could use for enchanting.

Extremely interested here! It's been a while since I've been a group RP since my time has been limited recently, but I'll have to reconfirm my availability sometime later. For now I remain extremely interested. Mainly because I've been in a similar situation as Ainz (minus the transported-to-a-new-world-part) - last one standing in a dying MMO and reminiscing on good times...

I would like to play the part of an NPC, possibly a slime-girl type.

Im in! I was thinking of a sneaky scouting/ambush type, but I can always mold to fit what is needed and might change role type before the final product :P

Great to have you onboard! You probably shouldn't be making any specific plans just yet though! You never know what the future has in store or what the finished RP will be like (for one everyone will be waking up together in the guild hall and I may or may not ask you to play as someone other than yourself if that's okay)

Sounds interesting! It seems you have quite the emotional connection to this series xD

A slime girl like Solution would be great, especially since we'll be landing in a human-controlled nation. While I expect most of us will be playing as one of the human or demihuman races just for story reasons (since it's canon that heteromorphic races were discriminated against within the playerbase for some reason), it's always great to have some more interesting members of the team. I personally prefer heteromorphic races myself because they seem much cooler, but apparently the vast majority of YGGDRASIL players don't agree xD

There should be plenty of room for a ranger/thief type character, or even an assassin if you feel like it. Welcome aboard!

Excellent! Awesome to see so much interest already! I'll begin working on either a formal interest check or an OOC. Hopefully I'll have it posted sometime tomorrow afternoon after my job interview (one cannot be a member of Ainz Ooal Gown without meaningful employmemt!)

Do you have to read the novel beforehand? I did read a bit, but that was ages ago, so I can only remember...well...not much at all. However, if you would have me, I would play a tanky melee character. Love to tank in MMOs. I'm at that period of my life where I have wayy more freetime than I need, so I can post multiple times a day (not recommended though, not fun for everyone). But yeah, I have time to spare and ideas to toss around.

And no, reading the novels is not required, although it is recommemded. As long as you've either seen the anime or read the first three or four novels, you should be fine.

I love overlord since I saw the anime, I absorbed every drop, and am probably gonna watch through it again. I gotta say it's better than log horizon by a little, and SAO by a whole ton.

Yes, there's still room to apply as a guild NPC. Considering the average number of high-level NPCs per guild, let alone lower level NPCs like maids and spawned monsters, there will be plenty of room for players who want to play as NPCs up until the game begins. Of course, if any players drop out before the game starts, you can create a new character or redesign your old one as a guild member proper.

I'll include a list of all the relevant reference material I can find in the OOC. The wiki and the novels both are rather sparse though and YGGDRASIL is a ridiculously "fuck off" huge game where there are hundreds of races and thousands of spells, so I'll be allowing players some liberty within reason with their races, classes, spells and skills.

In return though, I expect everyone to take this super cereal, guys.



Or at least y'know, serious enough. This is high casual/low advanced, so I do expect some effort to be put into this. That being said, don't be afraid to have a sense of humor about it, since we know stuff like bunny girl Nabe exists xD

I'll create a character I'd usually play in video games. Funny with a good serious tone for completing quests, and stuff while having fun doing it. I mean let's be real how would you play a video game? That's the sort of question I like asking myself when joining video game based rps. It stays true to myself, and makes it easier to rp really massive posts.
