It ranks them by score instead, which I thought was a wholly better system - especially over percent, which I think was at least mentioned before by Mahz. I can't be sure. So Melon's would be 1700, as it should be, and whatnot.

You can ask me what you want Tasuke, my schedule will determine if I'm running the year start tournament, or not.

@Rilla

Mmk. So traditionally with the tournaments, you've had the lobby/mansion area and the battle proper; you've also made rules where you can't attack or harm someone outside of the established fighting rounds. I'm wondering about beginning fights pre-emptively, in that mansion area or what have you, granted that it's against the opponent one is meant to face once the card has been slated.

An example being they're on the way to the transporter or whatever, and they're intercepted. Is that against rules?

Yes. There is no official fighting in the lobby. However, you can try to sabotage them in an effort to make them weaker for the fight at hand.

Any idea on when the tournament will be?

generally, poisoning, preventing healing, make them unable to rest, probably stealing something of theirs, anything but direct attack. So something like stabbing in the back is probably not allowed.

I think I'm going to have to get into habit of doing the Mention tag in my posts so people are sure to notice things that affect them when times come to post for this.

I only hope that such things as a complete lack of sleep actually carry over to make a meaningful impact; I don't often see people honor those kinds of things come fight time.

@Tasuke Nobody really used the sabotage mechanic because it's kind of, y'know, incredibly shitty and makes the fight terribly unfair and boring from the start.

and most of the time, most of the chars used are simply not geared for sabotage that's not 'assault this guy' variation.
Also, simply no time to, so far that's only used in the Tournaments, where the time between people done fighting and a new one starts is pretty short and there's the case of 'I'll just sabotage my opponent, there's no reason to make things easier for the others.' so they'll wait until the pairing is announced, which is when the next fight also starts.

These.

Most the time it wasn't used, as mentioned, due to the lack of space between fights - so really - only the people finishing up quickly could make use of it. Sort of adding some sense of urgency to the fights. Another reason is because people seem to have an innate sense of when their shit is fucked with. Barely anyone eats after someone, rooms over, messes with the food somehow.

I didn't find them boring though, then again, I've went into fights with obvious injuries, and been into a fight without any abilities(Sans one), or weapons.

Sabotage does have a place in handicapping a fight if two people agree that a match-up is particularly unfair, it's not a bad method for dealing with inevitable hard counters and the like.

Also gives you something to do in the lobby.

I would. Perhaps that won't help my score get any better...

My character idea for my brawler to fight Tifa may be too similar to Gaara. I was thinking she could have had a pact made with a dragon or something to protect her while she was younger and when it died it's bones still protect her and she can control them.

And if it sounds too similar to you guys then it would make it worse. You literally using Tifa is different than creating a "new character" that's like Tifa with a different hair color. Bone levitating around to protect her is slightly different then sand doing the same, but at the same time the reason for it doing so is also similar because something inside it is protecting them. That's what worries me about this ability. Luckily only the ability is similar so I might get a pass.

@ImportantNobody Honestly, there's no such thing as an original idea. Everything has been done before in some manner or another. As long as you execute your character well, then there is no reason to feel it's too similar to something else. Now, if your character was a short redhead who manipulated mud because she had a mud spirit put in her as a result of her village's experiment to weaponize the mud spirit, and she has a tattoo on her head of the word "devotion" symbolizing her deceased mother's devotion to her unloved child, and if your character was demonized and isolated as a child solely because this power was a taboo, then maybe you should reconsider. Otherwise, every character is bound to be similar to some other character.

@Tasuke There is not a single invention in history that can be construed as entirely original. The entire history and evolution of technology entails modifying pre-existing things. Give me any invention at all, and I'm certain that I can find an already existing idea that it was based off of.

Going from a roll of sliding balls to an electronic calculator was pretty nice. What was the electronic calculator ripping off?

Whatever it was must not have been original either since your statement is circular.

@Tasuke The electric calculator is just a glorified abacus. The abacus is just counting with sticks and stones. All ideas are based on something that came before them. As I said, value comes not from "originality" but from execution. The electric calculator is much better for assisting us with arithmetic than the abacus is, thus it is a very good invention, despite being utterly unoriginal in its conception.
