S.T.A.R. Knights

FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE RIGHTS OF ALL LIFE

Ever since humanity took its first big steps into the cosmos, they were there. From the first time freedom of their colonies was threatened, they were there. To protect the rights of all life, the S.T.A.R. Knights are there. An organization whos only purpose is protecting the right to freedom and self governance deserved by all life. And now, combatting the forces of D.A.R.K.N.E.S.S. There is no rest nor respite, for freedom never sleeps!

The Galaxy is a big place, and in it injustice is common on both a larger, and smaller scale. Most recently the Inter-planetary coalition of Independent systems has entered a tentativee cease fire with the enormous Pure star Hegemony, leading to a relative time of peace in the otherwise chaotic galaxy... but brings its own problems to the Galactic surface. Warlords have risen in the systems decimated during the last war, and strife fills many a system and planet to the brim. From the Arrita expanse and Corallous sector to many others the people are oppressed, and fearful of the new dangers visited upon their worlds. Some even whisper that D.A.R.K.N.E.S.S. is building back its strength, preparing to again plunge the galaxy into chaos. WELL, NOT IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT, BECAUSE THE S.T.A.R. KNIGHTS WON'T LET IT! Witht the war between the Coalition and Hegemony over for now, the S.T.A.R. Knights are again beginning to become active throughout the systems previously caught in the middle of the last war. They arrive ready to dispense justice and freedom to the masses left in the dust. It's time for S.T.A.R. to shove a boot full of freedom up the opportunistic assholes who think that the galaxy owes them something. FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND FREEDOM FOR ALL!

INFORMATION

Welcome to the S.T.A.R. Knights, an Inter-Galactic organization focused on keeping the Galaxy free! 100% Volunteer, amd 102% effective!

Below are several races I have created for the setting you may play, or you can make your own race, whichever you prefer(have any questions on this or want my approval please don't hesitate to ask)

Human: There are more humans in the galaxy than any other single race, essentially they spread about 400 years ago and have rapidly advanced their expansion since. Though the days of a unified human empire ended long ago, there are many human factions all of varying sizes. They also have picked up many advances in their interstellar days, leading to a branching couple of "sub-species" of human.

-Synths: These... well are arguably no longer really human. The ultimate evolution of what was long ago called trans-humanism, a synth is a human who has downloaded their conciousness and memories into a cybernetic body. Because of this, a synth is essentialy immortal barring death by violence or accident, and their metal bodies are much tougher than regular humans(though many choose to have synthetic skin so it is tough to tell them apart from other humans sometimes) however not all synths are alike. There are also "Proto-synths" or cyborgs, humans who have had many parts replaced with cybernetics but have not yet taken the full plunge of becoming a synth.

-Mutants: Space isn't exactly a friendly place, and these "humans" know it all to well. Wether exposed to crippling radiation, synthesized super drugs or some horrible experiment, mutants are humans forever changed by the horrors of the galaxy. Unlike synths or splicers mutants have no rel universal way to be identified, other thatn the feeling that something is "off" about them. Some have grown twelve feet tall and gained thick, leathery skin. Some have horrible crippling physical deformities, and a vastly improved intellect just to name a couple. Mutants can be either utterly inhuman, or have smaller differences, regardless they are largely looked down upon by the rest of humanity.

-Splicers: Splicers are probably the most similar to ordinary humans among the human subspecies, but are significantly different nonetheless. A splicer has either intentionally had their genes fiddled with to give them the strengths and features of animals, or are the result of splicer pairings. About two cnturies of intentionally breeding almost exclusively with other splicers turned a popular fad into a new subspecies. Splicers are largely unique among their own species, as any animal or multiple animals could make up an individual splicers genes. All splicers haave some animal features, and could be more animalistic, more human, or somewhere in between.

Brajali: These aliens are a strange mixture of organic and in-organic material, being universally what other races consider cyborgs. However, unlike other races, no one has ever SEEN a non cyborg Brajal, leading some to theorise they are simply born this way, or are augmented very young. As the augments themselves, it depends the individual Brajal's purpose. It is known that all Brajal are "assigned" their purpose before they may leave the Brajal home system. Some are more combat oriented, saw blades and attached weapons or the like, while others have more utilitarian functions, like an extra twenty or so fingers to better help on a starship for calibration and such. Not including cybernetics, Brajal do have several identifying feature, most noticeably a tall, thin oval head on which four mouths are found around the head. They typically have a single eye above each mouth, though some have additional cybernetic ones. They have three arms naturally, though some have additional ones, and like the mouths they are spread around their thin body. Legs are uncertain, naturally people believe they have five, but most have less(most likely amputated to make room for cybernetics). Often called frankensteins by humans(the term means something different than it did in ancient times, so other races use it as well) but Brajal can be extremely dangerous, or useful.

Dal'uatha:A strange race to ssay the least, they do not appear to have males. The Dal'uatha are made entirely of females, but believe me it aint what you think. Dal'uatha are dangerous, and most of their race are feral beast, caring only for violence personal strength making their homesystem very dangerous. The more civilized Dal'uatha form the goverment, though are infamous for their agressive politics and quick declarations of war. A Dal'uatha can stand anywhere from 5'4 to 7'3, giving them an incredible range of height and strength, the largest often organizing others into small piratical groups that raid across the galaxy. Thoe who are more civilized have long attempted to leash their more aggresive counterparts and have had some success as their army is largely mad up of more feral Dal'uatha, who fight for their leaders and the loot promised by the Hegemon.

The Nixvi horde: Both a race and a united goverment, the Nixvi "Horde" are an insectlike race that is largely xenophobic, intolerant and very violent... not a great combination for most people. Ordinarily, Nixvi space is diligently guarded and is considered a death sentence to enter unless you were a Nixvi, and seeing as they are possibly one of the oldest races it had been like this for possibly millenia. Until the last Galactic war at least. During the conflict, Nixvi space became a battleground very quickly as the war went from contained to rampaging, spilling into a large number of sectors previously though out of the way. Though the Nixvi are dangerous, the sheer force of Hegemony and Coalition forces forced them to plea for help, as the opposing forces were slaughtering Nixvi to make way for their war. Help did arrive, and from somewhere the Nixvi court was not expecting, the S.T.A.R. Knights. Despite suffering massive casualtiess over the years to Nixvi incurssions the S.T.A.R. had an oath, and currently protecting the Nixvi was covered by that oath. Possibly the only time S.T.A.R. took a direct role in the war the Knights drove the numerically superior Hegemony and coalition forces out of Nixvi space(with Nixvi assistance), risking being dragged further into the war. In return, the Nixvi opened their borders, and more than a few joined S.T.A.R., believing there was a debt owed. Nixvi are small, averaging around 4'6, but they are heavily armored with chitin that rivals the powered armor of other space fairing races. Master of melee, Nixvi martial artss requires four arms and at least two legs... so they don't teach non-Nexvi the art... cause they cant.

(More races to come, also will add player created ones. Explanation of S.T.A.R. Knights will be posted shortly)

IMPORTANT SPACE POLITICS

(Note: S.T.A.R. will have its own section, this is for other major players)

The Inter-planetary Coalition of Independent systems

The Inter-planetary Coalition of Independent systems (or the IPCIS) began as a loose alliance of upwards of a bakers dozen of systems who banded together in oposition of the rapidly expanding Pure Star Hegemony. Including the Brajali, Terrick, Holor and other systems, the IPCIS is more or less led by a Soviet made up of the selected representatives from each of the systems that make up the core of the organztion. HOWEVER, this dose NOT include many of the systems that were taken during the last Galactic war, or any of the systems who jumped on board during the war. This has led to somewhat of a... disparity of opinons within the Coalition due to its very open policy of accepting new systems into its fold, as well as declaring all conquered worlds a part of the Coalition, causing a lot of chaos and confusion within its goverment which is partially what led to the recent cease fire. Currently, the IPCIS is undergoing a massive re-shuffle and census, in order to better represent the now much larger number of planets. So far though, only a few of the dozens of new systems have been given representation, as the original soviet have been selecting only those systems they consider "worthy", or systems that had previously been in the good graces of the current Soviet representaative systems, meaning largely those with which trade relations are particularly favorable. This is leading to no small amount of resentment from both non-included systems and those original systems that still believe in what the Coalition originally stood for. Small revolts and angry mobs have already surfaced, albeit in severly small amounts, but the possiblility for civil war is evident, an outcome the Hegemon would enjoy greatly.

The Pure Star Hegemony

The Pure Star Hegemony, or P.S.H., is one of the oldest Galactic goverments in existence, reportedly recently turning about 3,158 years old. Originally a very small, very agressive singular system, specifically the home system of the Dal'uatha, the Hegemony began spreading when the Dal'uatha reined in control of their more savage members, turning them into a vicious and rutheless military. After that, planets al nearbye planets were conquerd, followed by their systems. Now, the Hegemony contains upwards of 352 systems, all of which still answer to the Dal'uatha council. For a long while, the P.S.H. went largely uncontested, other than the the more indepent system goverment now and again, and most systems the Hegemony entered immediately surrendered, until recently. The rise of the I.P.C.I.S. posed a real threat to the Hegemony, and they responded the same way they did to any obstacle, with overwhelming application of force. Being the undisputed champions of war the Hegemony expected a quick end to the war, but instead it dragged on for about a century and a half. The larger, and better armed Hegemony military was consistently outmaneuvered early on, and a few strategic blunders led to what was known as the outer system maassacre. A huge Hegemon fleet was led into a killing field by a small Coalition fleet, and was quickly reduced to space debris. After this, a large section of the Hegemon armed forces broke off, returning to the old ways of piracy that the Dal'uatha had been known for. Because of this, among other things, the Hegemon was on equal footing with thee Coalition, leading to an eventual stale mate and cease-fire. The Hegemony has since been focused on re-organizing their military and making sure no Hegemon controlled systems are able to defect to the Coalition, though many believe they are also working to inspire a civil war within the Coaltion to rid themselves of the biggest threat to their authority.

ZephyrCo. pharmaceuticals

"Providing health with a smile"

ZephyrCo. phatmaceuticals are a massive mega-corporation in just about every sort of profit-making industry there is, including more illicit ones. The company and its constituants are so massive that any connection to illegal activities or questionable ethics can easily be isolated and abandoned by the company at large to avoid any sort of real punishment. with investments from genetic engineering to firearms, ZephyrCo. is without a doubt the most diversified business in the galaxy, and they damn well know it. Though not technically a goverment, multiple planets and even a few systems are "owned" by the conglomerate, and are therefore little more than somewhere to place installations and hire staff. With several extensive PMC's under their corporate umbrellla, ZephyrCo. has the muscle to back up their ambitons, with their three biggest military subsidiaries comprised of: Synthetic military supplements Ltd., the Core defense systems corporation, and Planetary defense solutions Inc., though there are many smaller PMC's as well. With the sheer size of the conglomerate, and the incredible corporate diversity, ZephyrCo. has been involved in more ethically questionable activities than can be counted, but very few have ever actually been directly connected to the company itself.

The ruined systems

More of a nickname than anything, the ruined systems are those caught in the middle of the last Galactic war, and ruined is the best word one could use to describe them. Most all of them have fallen apart, their goverments toppled in the chaos and their armies disbanded. Even those planets aand systems who managed to maintain a modicum of order are surrounded on all sides by pirates, warlords, and alien fleets. Comprising of around 50 systems, all affected to varying degrees, none of the goverments or other organzations have yet stepped up to assist in their protection, policing or rebuilding... other than S.T.A.R. that is.

(Like races, if you wish to create an organztion you may do so. However, i would like ANY and ALL player made organizations to be run by me before they are posted or added to this list, S.T.A.R. itself is covered below)
