Enderβs Game Alternate Universe
AKA: Weβre In Spaaaace!
Ender Wiggin, the boy on whom the fate of the human race rested, has failed. Sent back to Earth mentally shattered. Broken by the weight of the worldβs expectation.
And Julian Delphiki? Deemed βunfit for commandβ. He never got past the school on Earth before they iced him and sent him off to be a civilian.
It is 2196. Five years until the ships reach the Formic Homeworlds. The crews are ready, the weapons are ready.
All they need now is a commander.

Hello and welcome to Weβre In Spaaaaaaaace! a roleplay set in an Enderβs Game alternate universe! Contrary to the rather sinister tone of the opening, this roleplay will be anything *but* sinister. As far as our characters know, theyβre just kids whoβve been sent on an epic adventure into space, given a chance to bounce around in zero-gravity and shoot lasers at one another.
Lore
Enderβs Game, the book that we are basing this roleplay off of, belongs to Orson Scott Card and is not our own creation. This alternate universe has varying changes.
First of all, letβs go over the setting and such of the book.
This is far future. This is not antimatter warp drives- rather, humanity has managed to build warships and other spaceships, but at the moment, faster-than-light technology is out of reach, and as such, humanity is stuck using more traditional thrusters and the like. Some changes to this is the fact that for interplanetary or interstellar travel, electromagnetic drives are being used rather than traditional chemical thrusters, or science fiction ion thrusters, or the like. Lasers are a thing- destroyers and cruisers are armed with high-powered ion beam weapons, as seen in the movie, Enderβs Game.
The general plot for Enderβs Game follows Andrew βEnderβ Wiggin, the third son of the Wiggin family. The firstborn, Peter Wiggin, was too vicious and uncaring to be in Battleschool. The secondborn, Valentine Wiggin, was too compassionate and caring to be in Battleschool. The parents were given permission to have a third son- Ender Wiggin, in a time where having a third child is against the law, for overpopulation purposes. Ender Wiggin was hoped to be the ultimate commander; in the book and movie, he was that person. In this, however, he never recovered from a break in his mental state, and therefore, failed.
Our group of launchies are hoped to take Enderβs place.
Another change to the lore is that instead of months until the final invasion, during of which Ender was training and being trained, we have several years- 5 of them. Instead of starting out as 6-10 year olds, we will be starting out at 12-15 year olds in this launch group.
Rules
1- Me and Willβs word is law.
1a- That being said, if you think we are wrong, stupid, etc., feel free to dispute. However, keep it factual and cooled- no need for a flamewar. Give us reasons, and weβll reconsider it and change it accordingly. Weβre reasonable people.
2- Keep to the age limit- no one is to play a pseudo-Graff or pseudo-Dap. Weβre all the chilluns.
2a- Similarly, donβt play a pseudo-Ender, pseudo-Bean, etc. Originality is a virtue. (hush. I know what Iβm talking about.)
3- Keep an open, sciencey mind. That is, youβre in space, and things in space get difficult (and mind-boggling). Every sense of direction you have is entirely and completely relative- up is not up when youβre in space, itβs just a direction. Your left is someoneβs down and another personβs up. Et cetera.
4- You are a chillun, a prodigy, yes, but still a young teen. Youβre not all-knowing, and youβre not that big and strong.
4a- Likewise, no metagaming- that means you donβt know OOC information. If someoneβs running around on the opposite side of the battle school and gets into trouble, you WONβT be able to sense it.
