"Couldn't you have waited until noon?" The dragon grumbled, displeasure evident on his features. Dead leaves crunched with every step he took. They were walking through an umber-brown, ancient forest. Befitting of dragons' ages. The forest reeked of it, age. Its woody incense was from centuries of snapping branches crashing to the forest’s floor and rotting silently. The composting, organic smell rose up in waves like a miasma. Because of her, they were venturing deeper into the tangled heart of this primeval forest, where travellers would disappear to and never be seen again-- of course, because it is the dragons' nest. One of the many nests found in the world. Huge roots spread-eagled the ground, twisting like the great backs of sea dinosaurs. The foliage became thick and lush, forming an arch of fairytale-green above them.
"Where are you taking me anyway? I demand to know."

Rhys was getting impatient. He had the urge of fulminating, and composing himself was quite a task, for his name itself meant something along those lines, if he could remember. His companion said something about showing him to... whatever it is she found, but he had just won a brawl--with an older Royal Crimson at that--and his muscles ached from fatigue. Despite that, his pride would not let him display weakness. However, his friend's energetic demeanor was contagious after all, and thus he was led away. Albeit begrudgingly now that he felt its repercussions.

Energy Twinkle

The Whiptail dragon only grinned at her grumbling friend. Her long, striped tail twitched excitedly as she speed-walked ahead of the Royal Crimson. Clearly, Energy Twinkle was excited, as she nearly always was, even for the smallest thing. Hopping onto a mound of soil stacked against the thick trunk of a tree, she flashed a grin at Rhys, her canines plainly showing, before jumping off it.

"Nope!" she answered, skipping ahead once more, "My hunting shift starts at that time and there's no way I'm going out at night if we're gonna do this." At that, she paused before slowly continuing onwards, deliberately not looking at her friend as she continued speaking.

"Speaking of which, it might not entirely be...within the uh, barrier," admitted Energy hesitantly. She was actually a little surprised that Rhys hadn't noticed that they had passed the exit earlier, one of few in the magical barrier that surrounded their clan. Of course, the exits looked no different than the rest of the barrier, due to the Elder dragons' illusionary spell, but any dragon that knew magic could sense the subtle shift in the barrier to know that it was an entrance or exit point. Only the dragons chosen to infiltrate the Human Lands went through those. Granted, the dragons that had to hunt also left the barrier on a daily basis but they had to stick to a set perimeter to avoid contact with the humans.

To sum it all up, Energy was breaking a rule. Maybe two if she went through with what she wanted to show her friend. Then again, she had ensured that no dragon had seen them leave the barrier and caused no reason for any dragon to suspect her of doing anything wrong. Except maybe for Rhys. Well, what the Elders didn't know wouldn't harm them. She grinned at the thought.

Grunting as a reply, the Royal Crimson painstakingly followed behind his energetic friend, who was as acrobatic as ever. Such a frail-looking frame she had, but the tremendous bursts of energy she released contradicted it. The male, in turn, preferred long strides at a moderate speed, which makes up for Energy's attempted advances because of his size. However, of course he wouldn't go further than that because of the strain it would put. He wasn't doing anything about En leaping off from trees either, just keeping at his own pace while she led the way. He was also attentively keeping an eye out for their surroundings as she seemed to lead them farther and farther away from the bustling heart of their clan's territory.

"Of course it isn't. Naturally, I've gotten used to your ways, and once again I am suggesting we go no further. Did you think I would not notice?" Rhys huffed. Sometimes, he wondered why he was even friends with the mischievous Whiptail. Yes, this was one of those times. "How much farther is it? If it goes on more than about a hundred meters further, I'm out." En's deliberate hesitation was palpable to him, despite the uncaring front he had put up.

He had grown rather blase observing the distressed critters and tremulous animals frantically trying to escape their dangerous, malignant-seeming presence. It seems dawn had broken not too long ago. He blew a short puff from his nostrils. He's going to miss his matutinal rituals.

Energy Twinkle

The only reason she was even speed-walking at the moment was to restrain herself from outright running off. Had she done so, it would have left her friend behind and would completely defeat the purpose of bringing him along. Energy just grinned back at Rhys, her sky blue eyes gleaming.

"I kinda did. Sorry 'bout that, big guy," she replied, humour evident in her voice with a tone that implied that she was, in fact, not sorry at all. She abruptly stopped, her ears flicking as she glanced around the area. The part of the forest they were in looked no different than any other part of it but that was precisely why she had chosen that spot. "After all, it would be really bad if any other dragon or human had found it here." She chased away the thought, reassuring herself with the unlikelihood of anyone coming across what she had hidden there.

"Well, you're in luck! We're here~" she chirped excitedly, bouncing on her paws. Stopping just as abruptly as she had begun bouncing, she looked around again, this time scrutinising each tree close to them. Her gaze fell onto a tree with a trunk as thick and rough as any other but had four small ferns drooping slightly at its roots, vaguely resembling a peeled banana, without the banana. Twitching her tail, Energy's diamond blue stripes began to give off a low glow as she focused her telekinesis on the spot with the ferns. Almost casually, a few pawfuls of dirt, as well as the ferns, was lifted out of the ground, a second item following and drifting towards Energy. With a happy squeak, she snatched it with her tail, dumping the levitating soil and plantation back where it belonged and the thin magical blue aura surrounding it disappeared, as did the glow radiating off her stripes.

"Guess what I found in my parents' cave last night!" she said, practically filled from head to tail with exhilaration, once again bouncing on her paws. Her tail, which was extended above her head, was curled tightly around a scroll, complete with a magic seal and parchment paper.

He could tell she was excited. Far too enthusiastic, he thought. What is this mysterious object that would bring his already hyperactive friend to a much higher level of gaiety? Rhys hummed as a reply, then went back to observing the small gestures En made and her little subconscious movements--the only thing he deemed amusing. The gleam in her eyes, the flick of her ears, the small skips in her steps, the twitching of her tail... Her friendly and cheerful approach to everything seemed to set him at ease, somehow.

He was roughly assuming the distance from their clan's territory to where they were as they moved along, and it relieved him when En finally stopped and announced their arrival--and also because he could finally rest his muscles, yes? The male dragon saw no difference of this part of the forest from the others though, save for something he sensed that was coming from a certain area of the plantations. Oh, not a bad cover.

Almost immediately after, a low glow from the Whiptail's stripes caught his eye. Subconsciously, a small smile crept across the dragon's face for he would be seeing a display of his friend's telekinetic abilities. He found the blue glow rather fascinating too against his friend's brown scales. The Royal Crimson noticed her high excitement levels, marked by her wide grin and swishing tail, as En uncovered the disguise on what seems to be a scroll and curled her tail tightly around it.

As she turned to him, once again bouncing on her paws and chirping from the sheer amount of exhilaration she possessed--which had him both annoyed and amused, somehow-- he plastered on the former apathetic face he showed, letting the small smile--that he never knew he had on--drop. "...En, is that a spell scroll? No, that is unsafe, do not open it." Rhys grunted. Considering this is Energy that was concerned, that scroll must contain something fairly...interesting to her, to get her as extremely hyped as that. "What were you thinking, going through your parents' things?" He sighed, tilting his head a little to the right. Although he knew saying anything of the sort would still not get the concept of 'privacy' drilled into his dear stubborn friend's head, he still spoke of it anyway. Well, what was he to do?

Oh, the trouble he would get into.

Energy Twinkle

"But why not?" Energy blurted out, still bouncing. She stopped, a sheepish expression overcoming her.

"I mean, of course not. I-I'd never just go through my parents' things. It's just, you know, I was looking at them..." spluttered the Whiptail, fidgeting a little. She had honestly not meant her outburst, though. Naturally, Energy had been an inquisitive little dragon since her hatchlinghood but she knew not to just up and nose around in her parents' stuff. While it was fun to do that to her friends to sate her ever curious impulses, she knew her place with the older dragons.

Well, sometimes.

"Anyway, that's not the point," she said, pulling herself together. As quickly as it had dissipated, her enthusiasm returned full force. "Okay, so you know my dad's a Magi dragon, right? Of course you do, you've known me my whole life. So last night, when he came back from a meeting with the Elders and a couple other dragons, he had this scroll with him! And I'm pretty sure it's what lets the chosen dragons travel to the Human Lands!" She beamed, the very idea of it filling her with ecstasy. Energy had always thought about going out into the world, though not necessarily the Human Lands. All dragons had been taught that humans were despicable, after all. However, for someone as hyperactive and excited as Energy, who could get worked up about almost anything, the forest just wasn't enough for her. She wanted to see the places that dragons could only talk about.

Sighing, the Whiptail looked up at the emerald green leaves and thick, mud-coloured branches that snaked through them that served as their natural roof. They were a world away from the outside and while most dragons wouldn't even think of going to such a place, Energy Twinkle dreamed of venturing the foreign lands. She looked back at Rhys, her eyes now practically sparkling with joy at the thought of an adventure out in the open.

"Wouldn't it be great if we could go out there?" she grinned, a hopeful expression on her face.

A sigh escaped his mouth and his eyelids fell close as he shifted his position. "That is no excuse," he spat out. Despite the mood change, he knew she'd regain her enthusiasm in a second. Instantly after the brief moment of hesitation, En began her energetically-executed explanation, to which Rhys was solicitous to. He kept his mouth shut the whole time hers was running off. The Royal Crimson noted the circumstances they were in: very very dire, because En could open that scroll any second now. Then it must be a spell-containing scroll holding an enchantment enabling camouflage among humans... He's heard of the magic before. If he recalled correctly, then it was one that could disguise dragons as the humans themselves.

Right after En stopped verbalizing her thoughts, which was well reflected in her eyes, Rhys bluntly told her, "No. It would not be great. What do you think will happen if we screw up and the humans come to know of the existence of dragons? Do you not realize that going out there is a dangerous task for those without the training and knowledge? Which is the very reason why dragons are chosen for it. You think you know humanity?" He seethed, trying to make her give in, albeit knowing her stubborn personality. "Now give me that scroll. This is going over the line, En. Do not try me." His frown deepened.

Of course he was curious. Of course he wanted to escape the cage he was in. To venture into the world. To explore at the 'seas' and 'glaciers' he's heard of, the ground made of sand. It seemed extremely exhilarating, something different for a change. However, he dared not defy the clan in such serious matter. He was meant to fulfill the clan's expectations, for he was of a high, noble status. His pride would not let his reputation be shattered. The Royal Crimson was well aware of the repercussions, and thus had forcibly pushed his unsatiated need aside. He was meant to follow orders.

Meant to be caged.

Speaking of which, they really should return to the clan now. Perhaps he should hone his magic and stock up on knowledge of the humans after this issue is resolved.

Energy Twinkle

Slightly put off by her friend's negative response, Energy pouted, her tail that clutched the scroll subconsciously retracting further behind her.

"Well, duh, of course I don't. But I would if we went out there, wouldn't I?" Her grin only seemed to widen, a teasing edge to her voice.

"Humans discovering our existence would be bad," she nodded, tapping a claw against her chin before calmly (or as calm as she could be) putting it back down, "So we just can't screw up, then!" Her eyes darted back to the scroll, which hung limply from her tail. She could sense the magic from it, the complexity of the spell it contained. Yes, she'd heard that it was meant to camouflage dragons as the humans but she had a feeling that it was more than a simple camouflage. Which made her all the more curious. The magical seal on the scroll itself was simple. Normally, they'd be more complicated but she had a feeling that the Elders had entrusted her father with the scroll, thus simplifying the seal.

At that particular thought, guilt jabbed suddenly into her heart and she wondered if she really should have taken it in the first place. However, upon remembering her very reason for taking it in the first place, her wish to do something in her boredo-err, to explore the unknown world that lay beyond the ancient trees that made up their home, she shook off the thought.

At Rhys' request on returning the scroll, Energy merely stuck out her tongue playfully and leapt backwards, landing on top of one of the humongous roots that supported the massive tree she had buried the scroll by. Her wings were now half stretched out, ready to take flight if Rhys were to give chase - which she didn't doubt he would indeed do. Though since she wasn't actually running away at the moment, she would consider herself safe for now.

"Come on, Rhys, it's just for a little while! What could a teensy weensy venture out in the open possibly do to harm any dragon?" she pleaded, her ever cheery grin never leaving her face.

His snout twitched hearing her answers. Every single one of them irked him, increasing his impatience. His tail swished in annoyance. Oh how he wanted to hunt down that cheeky little Whiptail. Instead, the male gave off a low snarl, "No. And don't you dare take flight. Have you forgotten that we aren't within the perimeters of the barrier?" He paused to shift to a standing position--realizing that he had sat somewhere before--before continuing, "If you aren't getting down from there, I'm leaving you here." And with that, he turned his head away, tail following the action, trotting off regally to the direction of the clan.

Energy Twinkle

Energy rolled her eyes, as a smirk tugged at the corners of her mouth, unconcerned about the Royal Crimson's actions. She knew precisely what to do to get his attention.

"That's alright, go on ahead!" she called after him, her voice the very sound of sweet innocence. "I'll join you in a bit - I just want to take a peek at the spell first." It wasn't just meant to attract his attention. She really did want to look at the spell. Maybe she wouldn't cast it on herself right away, but she was curious to see what made it so different from other camouflaging spells. Lowering her tail, she used her telekinesis to direct the scroll to levitate in front of her. Narrowing her eyes, she focused her magic on breaking the seal.

The seal broke easily enough. With bated breath, Energy unrolled the scroll with anticipation, her eyes scanning it for the spell it contained. Now that it was unlocked, she could feel the strong magic now flowing out of it, surrounding her. Words were written carefully on the fragile parchment paper.
"What one will be,
What one will see,
True souls be free,
Body and mind,
With change in thee...
"

Energy read aloud to herself the spell, well aware of the build-up of magic that was now coursing around her. The spell was initiating itself now that she had opened the scroll and read out its contents but she wasn't too worried. After all-

"Wait. Where's the reverse spell?!" Indeed, there was no sign of another spell that would reverse the one she had just cast. She blinked, her grin now nervous instead of cheery.

"Oops?"

At the Whiptail's call, the Royal Crimson abruptly stopped. Oohh she did just get the full entirety of his attention, his ears perking up and senses heightened. By the lords, is she--

But she did. Yes. As soon as he had swiftly turned his whole body around, his ears picked up the familiar voice of his friend mumbling words he assumed were the spell, and he sensed the rapid build-up of magic surrounding her frail frame. On impulse, his hind leg muscles contracted enough only to be released in a leap to the Whiptail, forepaws outstretched to grab the levitating scrap of paper. Yes, on impulse. You just witnessed the mighty Royal Crimson dragon acting on impulse to save his dear friend. And he succeeded in covering the large distance with that leap due to his already massive body size.

To no avail though, because by the time he had clutched the opened scroll--even ripping holes in it because of his retracted claws--, the intensity of the magic was at a peak familiar to him--that is, when a spell is performed correctly. The momentum of his leap, however, also caused him to crash into En, knocking her down. He felt the strong magic coursing through him due to his aerial attack.

"Wait. Where's the reverse spell?!"

"THERE IS NO REVERSE SPELL, YOU IDIOT!! EACH SCROLL ONLY CONTAINS ONE SPELL!" Rhys firmly growled at the...unfamiliar creature he was pinning down, whom he thought was his friend. His draconic eyes widened at the realization of the success of the spell. Or not..? He got off of his four limbs, freeing the unrecognizable human, attempting to balance on his hind legs. He teetered around and wobbled for a while, before supporting himself by pressing his right wrist against the nearby tree, which seems way taller and thicker than he remembered.

He began inspecting his new human body by pulling up his left sleeve. Where was his thick, crimson hide? His strong, sharp claws? He now possessed fair human skin that could stretch a little when he pinched it. The outer area of his arm had soft little hairs growing on it, making its texture rather soft at his touch. His new skin was way too fragile--palpable when he tried poking it with his dull nails. And his claws...unfortunately, were now pinkish nails that bent easily at the end. He did seem to have retained some of his scales at the sides of his torso though, once he lifted the orange garment he was wearing.

Speaking of which, he donned on the inside an orange shirt with a grey tie, and on the outside an unbuttoned royal crimson trench coat, with black outlines. Covering his human legs were baggy grey trousers and black boots.

How odd that humans stood on their hind legs. He was adapting to standing on them as the clock ticks by, though. When he bent down a little to inspect them, movement from it made him aware of the crimson fringe that shielded his vision a little. Reaching out to touch his tresses, Rhys found their softness. And he investigated his head further. Horns? None. Human ears? Bendable and soft. Snout? Nose. Mouth? Soft, stretchy, pinkish lips. Canines? Dull teeth.

...Weak. How pitiful human bodies are.

Energy Twinkle

She had been prepared for him to come after the scroll floating in front of her. What she hadn't expected was for him to crash into her as well, causing the both of them to land in a heap on the forest floor.

"Gah-ow!" Oh, she was going to feel that one tomorrow. Apparently, shifting into a human didn't do her fragility any good. She stopped at that thought. "Shifting into a human"?

Widening her eyes, she sat up as Rhys stumbled off her. The spell must have affected him too, her mind numbly noted. Right now, though, she was concerned about herself. She was smaller in size, that was for sure as the trees around them were noticeably larger than before. What was strange was that her entire physique had changed.

Her skin was way paler than her usual colour but they still retained a brown-ish hue. However, she knew that the humans tended to come in few different colours in so many different shades and she had often wondered why when her own kind was limitless in terms of colours. And...it was her skin. She didn't have scales anymore. Just soft, squishy, vulnerable skin. Energy poked her hands a few times before sighing. "Way to increase my frailty," she thought wryly. Her limbs were different too. Her claws were gone, replaced by pink nails. She had ten fingers and probably ten toes on her feet. She couldn't really count because she had odd, cloth thingies that were grey and had blue strings knotted on top of them covering her feet. Shoes, she recalled them to be. She had on other human accessories on her too. A soft, thin light brown long-sleeved shirt with familiar diamond blue stripes running across its front. A glance at her back showed that there were stripes too, at the back of her shirt, though not connected to the ones in front. The stripes on both sides had spiky ends. A pair of black slacks went all the way down her legs.

Something soft brushed her cheek. Mildly irritated, she swatted it away, only for it to fall back against her face. With a slight frown, she grabbed it and tugged, only to realise that she also had hair now. Fascinated, she brought it to her front, inspecting the strands that now brushed against her back and shoulders, covering her neck. It was dark brown, the same colour as the scales she used to have. With a slight grin, she instinctively got onto her hands and knees before remembering that humans were supposed to be bipedal. Huffing, she got up slowly, first on one knee, then her own two feet. Unused to her new centre of balance, she stumbled, before steadying herself with the huge root protruding from the ground. Due to her new small size, calling the root a towering wooden wall was more apt.

Her legs were trembling, she realised. She wasn't used to this new form and so, her new limbs weren't used to carrying around her weight either, it seemed. Thinking back on the spell, Energy had also now discovered the difference between it and a regular camouflage spell. It didn't just camouflage the caster, it completely changed their physiology altogether. Technically, it was her fault that they both had changed so she supposed she deserved the consequences of this incident.

One thing she was glad for, though, was that she wasn't completely human. She could feel her dragon ears hidden within her long straight hair - and she reached up with a hand to affirm this - and look at that! Her long tail had stuck with her!

"Oh my faithful tail! I wouldn't know what I'd do without you!" she cried happily, snuggling her tail against her cheek with her hands. Which required taking a hand off the root so she promptly fell on her butt.

"Oomph!" Wincing, she rubbed her bottom before noticing that her tail was stripeless. It was just a plain brown tail now. "Huh."

It seems the Whip--err, female human was studying her new mysterious physique too, although she retained her dragon ears and tail. The newly-turned human Rhys grunted, facing his friend, "Are you happy? What do you suggest doing now?" He huffed. What a situation they were in, and to think it was all because of that careless idiot's senseless actions. Now, their entire physiology was changed. He clicked his tongue at the thought, shifting his center of balance. The barrier would only let in the DNA and magical frequency of dragons, so returning was not possible.

En couldn't possibly know the reversing spell either. In the first place, this spell was only available to the Elders anyway, and the chosen ones--those who were deemed capable for the task. But why leave it with En's father putting it in some place she could find, knowing her? It could be bait too. Was this occurrence supposed? Rhys tried to sense the area for any dragons nearby, but failed to do so, realizing he was no longer a dragon. Ah, the unfortunate beings that are humans, he conceived.

The spell was supposed to transform them perfectly however, but it seems that it wasn't the case for them. Perhaps boring holes into the scroll before the spell was fully completed gave rise to that defect. Now then, what were they to do? Whatever was possible was probable, he deemed. Unless... no, what would his parents' reaction be if he were to venture out without a word? He was an adult, but still...

Energy Twinkle

The teenage girl that sat on the ground cocked her head at Rhys. Energy only grinned, taking in her friend's new look.

"Well, you don't look too bad," she commented easily, getting up again on her unsteady legs. It looked like Rhys was already quickly adapting to his new form, whereas she was still slowly getting used to hers. A flash of frustration rose up within her but she hurriedly shoved it back down, her grin unwavering.

"Oh, I think you know what we're doing next," she said, humour dancing in her eyes. She nearly pranced forward on all fours in her excitement but she stopped herself, remembering that she wasn't quite quadrupedal anymore.

"Let's go out into the world!" she exclaimed, enthusiastically repeating her previous idea, "We can't exactly go back now like this. What's the harm in going out for a little adventure? We might even find a reverse spell somewhere out there." Unlike her friend, Energy hadn't quite thought this through. She hadn't thought of all the needs their human bodies might need that their dragon ones had not. She had not thought of how they could even blend in with civilisation. She hadn't even thought of where they would even go. No, the excited Whiptail-dragon-turned-human had not thought of those things at all.

He let out a small groan, sighing after it. He knew she would say that. Then again, what about human civilisation? How does it work? What do they eat? What are their needs? ...Perhaps he could try a hand at it, maybe find other chosen ones. What else was there to do, anyway? In retrospect, the Choosing Ceremony was in a few months. Nope, not close at all. Nobody will come find them. Well, there was nothing else he could do, anyway.

"...Fine," Rhys huffed reluctantly, "But no stirring up trouble, and choose your words VERY wisely. Also, think before acting." Be that as it may, it goes without saying that En would definitely pump her fist in the air or such and not heed his words. Stubborn like a mule. And also be very chirpy during their journey. His eyebrows twitched at the thought. What was he to do with her?

Energy Twinkle

"Yay!" cheered Energy as soon as she heard Rhys say, "Fine". Throwing a fist into the air, she whooped and turned before attempting to run on instinct. It turned out to be a bad idea for she had only taken two steps before losing her balance and falling flat on her stomach. The only thing that stopped her face from introducing itself to the ground was her hands slapping onto the dirt.

"Ow." Quickly recovering herself, Energy rolled over, pushing herself up into a sitting position. Her palms stung from slapping the grass and dirt and goodness knew what was on the forest floor but for some reason her chest had hurt more. Now that she thought about it, her chest also felt heavier. Raising her eyebrow, she lifted her shirt and was surprised to find her chest...well-developed, shall we say. Intrigued, she poked one of the strange fleshy humps with a finger and it was weirdly soft, wobbling slightly as she did so. Confused, Energy looked up at Rhys with her shirt still lifted up.

"Hey Rhys, what are these?"

The male shook his head at the fatuous spectacle. "Clumsy idiot," he huffed. En's vivacity and injudiciousness was almost comical. It would be an impossible feat for them to proceed into the human world discreetly, he realized. Any hortatory speech from him would also still prove its futility. The girl seemed almost indefatigable, even.

Speaking of fatigue, it seems his had persisted. A frown made its way onto his face as he tried moving his leg muscles. Though it grew a little subtler, it still hindered his will to learn this 'walking'. Per contra to that, Rhys persevered in his attempts. Some pandiculation would assist the blood flow, but that wasn't the time for it, he figured.

"Hey Rhys." In reflex, he turned his head to the source that called his name in response. And again, in reflex, he turned it away as fast after a glimpse, blunting a reply, "I certainly do not have such things. You flashing that disgusts me somehow." And he scrunched up his nose a little. "They're also supposed to be kept hidden, have you no shame?"

Energy Twinkle

Energy blinked in response, the wheels in her brain turning as she registered what he just said.

"Oh. Sorry!" she grinned apologetically, letting go of her shirt, allowing it to cover the two apparent taboo appendages. Standing up again, with her arms held out on either side for balance, she took a cautious step forward, determined to master the art of walking on two legs. Much to her joy, she didn't fall over, instead wobbling and maintaining her balance. On a side note, it felt as though she was a hatchling again, learning to walk once more. Why couldn't humans just use all four of their limbs? It was so much more easier, she reasoned with herself. Taking another step forward, Energy inwardly cheered at the accomplishment of walking two paces in her new human body.

"Hey, I think I'm getting the hang of this!" she said brightly, her ever present grin flashing at Rhys. It was then she noticed the torn scroll on the floor, not too far from where they had landed when falling off the giant root. A thoughtful look came over her expression and she took a few more wobbly steps towards the scroll, landing on her knees when she reached it. It was still unsealed, the magic from it steadily coursing in and out of the scroll due to the lack of a caster to wield it. Furrowing her brows, she rolled it up tight and, focusing her own magic onto it, she resealed it with a simple magical lock. As she did so, her pale sky blue eyes flashed a deep, vivid blue, which vanished as soon as she was done. Unaware of what her eyes had done, she smiled at the sealed scroll.

"Can't leave this out here, can we?" she murmured to herself. Having nowhere else to place it on her person, she decided to simply hold it instead.

Rhys

Merely disregarding the troubled girl (and the fatigue), Rhys began distancing himself from the tree in slow, meticulous steps. He stopped, taking a glance at his fully outstretched right hand, middle finger barely touching the umber-brown tree bark of the stationary living being that was keeping him from not toppling over. Unwavering, he stepped away, the ephemeral moment fleeting by.

Thus commenced his ironically irresolute footfalls as he plastered on a serious face, observing his feet. He kept track of where he was going from his peripheral vision. The scene was rather zany, actually. A grown man--though young--aggressively trying to master the art of walking--or, in general, using legs. The newly turned human male sought to conquer whatever weakness his new unfamiliar body provided. A small feeling of triumph harbored itself within him as his aimless steps grew more undaunted, and his expression grew lighter. However, it would soon turn to regret later on for not being cognizant of his companion's unmindful actions.

Abruptly, he sensed the steady stream of magic energy that surrounded the little area they were in weaken and soon utterly diminish, sucked back into its source. Once again, his brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed as he ceased in his tracks, glancing at where he sensed the source was. Rhys noticed that En had sealed the scroll.

His gut feeling told him something was wrong. But what? That is, until he realized of the approaching danger, also known as wild animals.

Energy Twinkle

Scroll in hand, Energy looked up at Rhys, only to see him troubled.

"What's wrong?" she asked, getting up on her feet once more. This time, her body did little more than sway and she was pleased, now that she was becoming accustomed to balancing on two legs. It wasn't that bad, really, now that she thought about it. Or maybe she was being optimistic. Energy could still barely walk after all. "But hey, at least I'm not falling on my butt again."

A sudden shrill squawk rang through the air. Now, being a dragon - or used to be - who's lived all her life in an ancient rainforest, Energy was unperturbed by this, merely glancing up at the toucan, settled on one of the lower branches above them, which had let out the abrupt call. However, as more birds answered it, she was growing aware of the wildlife surrounding them, now that the magic and dragons that normally scared them off were gone. Birds called out to one another, occasionally flying overhead. Crickets chirped and whatever insects hidden in the undergrowth were back to crawling around. Small critters ran around in the foliage, not at all disturbed by the two strange humans standing around.

There was a reason that no human traveller that ventured through the forest ever came back out. Well, other than the dragons, that was.

Goosebumps rose on Energy's skin. If there was one thing she knew about their home, it was that being inside it as a human never ended well. Especially as humans who barely knew how to walk, let alone run. Taking a step back, her ears flicked as she picked up the distant sound of a jaguar growling. That wasn't good. Funny, usually she would've picked up its scent. The human nose really must be inferior to a dragon's. They should probably get out of the forest.
