@TheUnknowable Teh-heh. I was, like, waiting for you to suggest that, because it felt quite natural.

However, I believe it would be interesting for me to begin with meeting up with David, and then decide on my own on alliance when we've arrived at the location. I'm not entirely sure what David as a Jedi Master would sense in Emilliana, her already having had a bit of a taste of darkness, however it does appear he does not mind this cause of action. I also feel it suits the rebellious and excitement-seeking part of her character. That, and she can get a few more amusing relationships with more characters, allowing amusing interactions when the unexpected happens, and who knows? Maybe they'll even try to fix her! And I can't even guarantee it won't work~! Haha~!

Also, she's not the kind who'd follow directions if they don't suit her desires. So, if she's told to stay on the ship, she might just drift off when nobody's looking. ... Not that it would necessarily work on a Jedi Master to just "slip away", buuut... XD

@PlatinumSkinkIf you want to start on Nar Shaddaa, I'll have Pim use the force in public so that you can see him (maybe mind trick a bouncer into letting him into a club without paying the cover charge). After you ask him to teach you about the Force, he'll send you to find a Sith artifact on Korriban to prove you are worthy, maybe after teaching you to fight a bit better with your saber.

The plan is that if you succeed:
a) Saidor let you succeed, which means he finds you worthy.
b) The Force or your skill with it lead you to one Saidor hasn't found yet.
c) You steal one from Saidor, proving your skill and determination to do whatever it takes to succeed.

Or maybe you don't succeed, but Saidor decided to train you. Either way, they have a new, valuable Sith.

I'm interested in making a character, but as always, I ask the people involved if they are interesting in a new person and what kind of people they are lacking. I've played Dungeons and Dragons for almost 10 years so I understand the idea of dice rolling and i am quite intrigued by the idea of this

@TheUnknowable I thank you for your consideration on the meeting Pim plan, but I intend to have some interactions with the good guys first, letting David take me as his apprentice before finally arriving on Korriban. Depending on what happens, I can possibly imagine accepting the quest to find this Sith Artifact, if you'd consider it. Assuming we're at a stage where that's possible, of course. Haha.

It's just so exciting to make some relationships first, right? Tihi.

@Minimum On Gisk's request, a document in Google Docs has been opened for your collab, and I do believe there was something about your motion against the Droidekas that needed to be adjusted. The GM seemed to have sided on your side. I believe some edits must be done before you need to write again. Majorly the fact that your attack-roll would be your dexterity rather than your blaster-skill due to it being a point-blank shot and such.

We don't mind having new people, the only thing I ask is that we wait until this chapter is over before introducing new characters. I don't know if you've been reading the IC or collab posts, but right now we're basically in two small groups going through our instances and it's hard to find excuses for new characters to appear immediately.

As far as what kind of character we're missing: if I'm right about who is actually still around, we have a decent mix of people. A thief, a Jedi descendant turned smuggler, a security guard and a pair of Dathomiran siblings.

Quite a lot of them come from sketchier backgrounds, two of them are criminals. Maybe a former republic soldier? That might mirror Rokun too closely, though.

Most of them are adults, a child might be interesting. What sort of characters do you like to play?

We could have them meet Pim on Nar Shadaa and go through a mini-arc until this one is over. If they were a Sith they might even get to join in. If not, he can deal with them as a normal person who he knows is Force Sensitive.

@Gisk I could be a grey jedi or the only surviving apprentice of one of them, if you have heard of the concept. It was in an episode near the end of the clone wars series.

I'd rather avoid a character who has any connection to the Jedi. I already have one, and this was meant to be a post Jedi Galaxy.

@PlatinumSkink

So how do you wanna handle this? You can just go ahead and join the collab post Ciphra and I have in progress, just have her sort of stumble upon them and we can move from there.

@PrettyWalrus Sorry, didn't address the other thing in my previous post: TheUnkowable's idea isn't bad at all, whether your character goes light or dark side(I'm not picky either way) they could encounter Pim before anyone else and have some kind of private story arc there.

EDIT so I don't make yet a third post: both of the collab links are now on the first post, very bottom.

@Gisk I don't want to interrupt on Nira's scene (unless she has specific use of my sudden appearance), so go ahead and finish up your conversation. You'll find Emilliana inspecting your ship on the way back, because that's where she sensed you, just that you had left the ship to go encounter Nira and I didn't notice that you had moved. Does that work?

Works perfectly, we'll likely reach that point soon, I'm trying to get everyone moving from this prologue chapter.

@TheUnknowable

Can you move your characters to the characters tab? Sometimes I try to compare them, and I have to go back and forth.

So I'm thinking of adding in "Damage Threshold." That is, in a combat scenario, you have to be beaten in the roll by a certain number in order to take any damage. It's a kind of buffer.

So, if we're in a lightsaber duel, you roll 19 and I roll 17, ordinarily I would take 2 damage. If I had a DT of 3, however, I would take none, even though I lost the roll.

I like it, because it means that every crossing of sabers doesn't end in someone getting tagged. Injuries would be harder to get, and would mean a little more.

The question is: how to implement? Everyone could have the same DT, but that's a little silly. I was considering two different ways:

A) Armor, but I don't know what the drawback would be(there must be one).

B) Another stat(Constitution, I guess), more points in our total pool, and give everyone this one chance to respec their characters.

Thoughts?

sorry, thought I'd posted it there already.

As for damage threshholds, we could go with one for ranged weapons (dexterity), one for Melee weapons (strength, as we don't have a constitution skill), one for force powers (force), and just use them as skills. Say I've done no defense training. Against blasters I'd have a threshhold of 2, as my Dex is 2. Against melee I'd have a DT of 5 and against Force powers a DT of 5, as both of those are at 5. Alternatively, all weapons could be Dex based and Force Defense could be Force based.

@Gisk A possible drawback could be a dice limitation on certain dex moves, i.e. running swimming, parkour, etc.

@Gisk I'm going to go out on a limb here, hopefully I won't break it and fall to my death, but why not use a system of both? Have an Endurance stat (Or something), but also allow characters to have armor, and depending on the armor and what it does, would also determine what it would reduce to other stats.

@Gisk@TheUnknowable I'd say make it linked to the skill rather than the stat. If I (theoretical scenario) do the effort of training my character to at 5 lightsaber I'd be rather disappointed to still have only 1 Damage Threshold in a lightsaber duel. So, depending on the means of which one blocks an attack, the Damage Threshold could be the same as that skill.

That would make it possible to have those long, extensive lightsaber battles where nobody hurts one another for good long time to be possible. Haha. ... Though, it does make the powerful even more powerful, as well as make it practically impossible to have the weaker even slightly injure the powerful ones through sheer luck. Haha. Maybe that's how we want it.

So, if you dodge a blaster-shot, use the evasive threshold, if you block it with a lightsaber use the lightsaber threshold. Pretty much. That's what I'm suggesting. If one has armor, then maybe there could be a rule that says "reduce taken damage by x" rather than increase the Damage Threshold, and then the armor could be damaged to the point of uselessness if it soaks up too much damage. Haha.

Of course, this is all suggestions.
