I like the idea of the kind of the banter between the two. Oh, should we work on how they know each other? Like... roommates or something?

Yeah that would be cool, and their banter will be fun. For two so different I feel like something such as being roomates is the only way to bring them together.

@Vandy
I'm assuming since castian was very similar to christian that it's basically going to mimic that with morals and such? If not some basics for the religion will be helpful for a paladin.

@rechonq I've got a little bit about the church written up on the OP. Basically yeah they have around the same morals, the majority of them are genuinely good people that want to help others but there are those that either use the church in order to gain political power. There are also of course some that are crazy fanatic nut jobs. The religion itself is good but not all of its followers are, like most real world religions.

*EDIT y'all could also have your characters be old training partners or something.

@VandyHaha it sounds more and more similar.

@RainDashI don't know what would draw your thief in, but I feel like my paladin would object to his actions. He wouldn't do anything more than that and after objecting once he would back off and just be casual again. He would probably be friends as he sees the thief as someone to convert and as someone that could be useful later on. Plus if he grew up in a strict castian family, thiefs would seem like a lot of fun to him and be someone he would like to have as a friend. Not sure how you want your thief to feel, but the snarky attitude shouldn't be a problem for the paladin. As long as the thief doesn't mind being ignored slightly if he gets too snarky. For meeting I like the roomate thing a little more, the training partners could work just as well and if you have any other ideas I'm open to them. If there's a third person that is more in the middle of us we could both be friends with that person and meet that way. Any way we do this is fine with me.

Just something else to throw out there, many of the apprentices at the Academy were orphans found by traveling Sarians and brought back to be trained. My own character is going to be a human from Raliven or maybe Loth that has no clue who his parents are. I'm also going to be a badass monster hunter/mercenary.

*EDIT
Also, update I have finished with the details on magic in case you were wondering.

I'm torn between him having no family or just one that's not particularly religious. Both so your character can try to convert them and that my character really doesn't care to be converted. Pretty much they just blank out when the preaching begins. So there's pretty much ignoring going on on both sides depending on the topic.

I agree, being training partners would be kind of a mismatch. But I'd like to stick to the roommate scenario since it gives them a bit more common ground and we can work with a third person being known by one or the other. Or like maybe a third roommate? Whatever works for that person.

I haven't got much in my head so far, but I have a few ideas. A small, scrawny young man from Ergiland, a pure magic user who is questioning his faith and unsure of his abilities and his place in the world. I don't think he would be an orphan. Possibly the youngest in a family of powerful mages, of strong and stout Ergilanders, and thinking himself unfit to be a part of them, he journeys to the Academy to become a real sorcerer.

That's it so far. I'd like to hear more about the magic system, about the difference between wizards and mages, and about what other religions there are.

@Dud So far the magic system is pretty basic and just tells of the different types of magic. (Elemental, Warding, etc...) Though if you have any suggestions feel free to post them. There are three other religions at the moment. They are the Cult of Pullo (a demon worshiping cult that started the Demon War), Estlam (based pretty loosely on Islam and centers around mostly elves and Orlvan) and the Nordic Pagans (based on real world Norse, Thor Loki and such)

When I actually get the OOC up, which looks like sometime Sunday morning right now, I'll have the OP updated with all the religions, kingdoms, and magic.

Question: do you want only realistic pictures? I can find realistic, but it'll be a bit more difficult and I want to know what to look for before we start.

I would prefer realistic pictures. I found mine on deviantart, that's a good place to start.

Okay. That's just what I wanted to know. I prefer anime pictures because I just tend to find them easier. Although... I also usually do descriptions with mine, and I've already got a character in mind now, so it's just a matter of finding a realistic picture of him now.

Cool, if you can't find a picture I'd be happy to help you out.

Nah, even if I don't find a picture I'm fairly decent at descriptions. No worries, just a minor thing that I wanted to ask about, really.

Alright, right now I'm in the process of writing my character sheet which is distracting me from finishing those darned religions. I might have to finish that after I get the OOC up. Other than that we should be moving from the interest check stage to the OOC stage tomorrow morning!
