AppearanceOliver is quite taller than his fraternal twin sister, Olivia, setting in at about 5’7”. Appearance-wise he doesn’t seem like a far toss from his parents which in addition to a good diet and fitness regiment throughout high school and most of college has led to a lean build though Oliver isn’t really muscular and lacks the broad shoulders of his father. With stoic gray-blue eyes and dark brown hair, Oliver looks like how he thinks. He isn’t meticulously groomed and hasn’t had many hairstyle variances in his life often preferring it to be short enough to not be bothersome. His clothes selections are mostly assortments of sweaters, suit jackets, buttoned shirts, and khakis; he has a preferences for looking respectable but not extravagant.
“If I’m listening, I care.”
PersonalityOliver has always been the quieter of the twins, always seeming to be in perpetual thought. This thought process has led to a mild introversion, a personality that isn’t completely uncommon among the younger Carrington’s. Perhaps this is due to taking after his parent’s more stoic and analytical traits or the fact that Oliver himself has always found himself having little to say unless he needs to say something. This introverted nature leads him to be well suited at noticing things outside of the ‘normal’ picture— a fact that was evident when he notices nuances that his siblings do under certain situations. With that said, Oliver isn’t unfeeling or apathetic; he cares consistently about how people look, how he looks, and the actions between— a behavior that has led to superficial feelings.
In a conversation he is invested in, Oliver’s opinions come out. He’s easy to get an emotional rise out of once thrown out of his introspective nature and very strong involved with his views for better or for worse. He can be emotionally manipulated through a number of ways and his siblings particularly know that while he stays quiet that can be flipped pretty easy from one ‘wrong’ opinion or comment that he feels like warrants a reaction. Due to his intellectualism (some say pseudo-intellectualism at times) he can come off a bit brash and elitist, sneering at those who don’t understand things like he does.
Most importantly though is Oliver’s way of dealing with his anxiety and issues; throwing up a comedic retort, ironic jab, or self-depreciation joke. Perhaps to some this is Oliver’s most desirable personality trait and not his analytical thought process or perfectionist nature— a fact he has been told a few times.

“Every note has a purpose and an identity, as such everything has to be perfectly composed and arranged. There can be no mistakes, no pointless decisions.”
HistoryOliver grew up as a Carrington and what exactly it meant to be, even with his mother’s “hands off” parenting style. From a young age he was always thinking, though he was more lively and energetic then; mirroring his mother’s own youthful vigor and much like his mother it tempered with time. Oliver was always interested in sound and art, taking interest in classical and jazz in particular. Oliver took classical piano and enjoyed learning about the history of music, though he was also interested in environmental sciences and engineering; though it was more of a passing interest due to the efforts of his father’s company to develop clean energy. When his sister set off for boarding school he focused deeper into his own academics, musical interests, and so forth. For a time he had a passing interest in tennis as well.
Oliver went to Yale initially for a degree in Engineering Sciences, but once his undergraduate degree was achieved he decided to change his aspirations and go for a degree in Music. He was sure there would be some dramatics for such a decision but he would at least have a fallback if such a decision ended up being an unwise career move in the future. The decision created a small network of friends and contacts during his time and Oliver’s type of thinking soon proved to impress his instructors. As he worked at Yale in New Haven he kept in contact with some of his siblings, particularly his sister. New Haven was only a few hours away from New York City, so he never felt like he had abandoned anyone in his aspirations.
Following his academic pursuits Oliver went straight to work and went to the most readily available opportunity for him— collaborative works in theatre. Perhaps it was the Carrington name or luck, but Oliver began working periodically composing the orchestral aspects of several smaller time musical productions though the first few were not exactly Broadway extravaganzas as the lyricists and theatre producers were difficult to work with. During this time Oliver met a girl named Abigail Schultz who we would start a pretty serious relationship with— though it ended up ending poorly and emotionally wrecked Oliver for several months; as a byproduct it did fundamentally create his darkest composition yet which he refers to as “Collapse”. He’s still look for a lyricist and producer to put words to the music for a new theatre production, though he is also considering pitching it to a music studio to release as an album as is.
However such plans are to be delayed as a trip sneaks up on him.

Favorite memoryHis first musical theatre production.
Least favorite memoryHis relationship with Abigail Schultz— all of it. Oliver really feels offset by how he became dependent, obsessive, and insane when the relationship broke apart in what seemed like seconds. He wishes none of it ever happened.
“When the relationship ended I felt broken— like an addict without product, battered and beaten to the point of delirious insanity; like a manic breakdown.”

“It feels like I could be doing so much work instead of this trip. But if it is what is needed from me… fine.”
