The Story:

The Legend of Kasumi.

Before Avatar Aang and his successor Korra, there were many more. Recorded history, however, has a trail that fades away whilst tracing back in time. Going backwards, before Avatars Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, Yangchen and the unnamed Magma Bender, the Avatar Spirit was within an Waterbending host. This is hundreds of years before Aang triggered the Avatar State that would freeze him in a glacier for Sokka and Katara to find. Hundreds of years before Korra was even conceived.

I take you back before recorded history in the world of Avatar faded away to the memories of the dead lurking the Spirit World. Dragons have not been hunted to near extinction, and the Air Nomads did not yet fall victim to the wrathful genocide the Fire Nation would inflict hundreds of years later. The world is at peace, or perhaps I have spoken too soon? The previous Avatar has passed away, and the new host has been chosen. Kasumi(the current Avatar) is the new host. At the time of her birth, to twentieth year later to when our RP will take place, the world has been threatened. An unknown villain has lead a force assumed to be chi blockers to destroy benders. They have gone to villages and towns to "purify" the gene pools. They, however, leave the leaders alive and, instead, removing their ability to bend. If you've nostalgia to the Legend of Korra, think again. It is said that a powerful chi blocker has mastered an ancient, forgotten art and is out to not destroy only the Avatar Spirit, but the notabilities and councils of the four nations so that the ancient art could again be dominant. And they are training more to fuel this unjust cause.





Rules:
1. Respect - This is the most important rule. Respect me, my roleplay and your fellow roleplayers. Refusal of following this rule will get you kicked from my roleplay.

2. Have Fun! - Another important rule. Roleplaying is all about having fun, making friends and creating a story with people you don't even know. If that's not fun, then I don't know what is.

3. Characters - Please make your characters realistic. Also, no mary-sues or gary-sues characters please. And please do not make your characters over powered.

4. Godmodding and Autohitting - Just don't do it.

5. Character Sheets - Please use the format that I have provided though I will allow you to format your character sheet however you would like just make sure you use the titles that I have produced for you already.

6. Posting - I would like to have active roleplayers be apart of this roleplay, please. And be literate, meaning know the difference of words, proper grammar and capitalization. We all make mistakes, I am sure of it. Please be able to also post at least three full paragraphs each post. I understand writer's block but just try to manage three. If you are gone for more than three days please PM me to let me know. For you speed posters out there, allow three people to post after your last post before posting again.

7. PG-13 - Please limit the amount of gore, violence and sexual content that you put in the IC. Swearing is fine, just don't go overboard, meaning don't have your character swear is every sentence.

8. Reservations - These will last for 24 hours only. Need an extension, let me know via PM. Also, just because someone has made a reservation for the role you wanted, doesn't mean you can't apply for it as well.

9. Be Active! - Please be active in both IC and OOC. Thanks. And give me your favorite food in the OOC to clarify that you have read the rules.

Style:
Lasya often wears a long dress in the colours of the air nomads. Very little changes about her appearance from day to day. Her air nomad necklace is often worn around her waist. Her dresses are mainly the same, only differing in colour and the length of the sleeves. It is uncommon for her to be found in pants and a shirt but when she is it tends to be in a similar style to that of her dress.

Personality:
Lasya is a very calm person, she is willing to take her time and has great patience. It is because of this that she finds herself able to teach at such a young age. She has the ability to remain calm and help someone to their full potential as monks have done with her. She is kind and gentle in her teachings but she is not a person easily walked over. As she is soft, she is not willing to be ignored or not taken seriously. She is wise beyond her years and views herself no longer a child as others may view her. This causes her to often be hard on herself and quite serious. She has a very small sense of humour and does not partake in many fun activities as the people around her may.

She is a quiet person and prefers to sit alone and meditate than join in social activities. However, she truly shines when playing. She loves music and loves sharing it with people. Although, when asked, she will most likely reject requests to play. The few people who hear her play are her students and those who happen upon the chance to hear her music wafting through the halls or an open door. Lasya is always trying to better herself by challenging herself in both her bending and music. Due to her reserved ways, people often think her to be cold as she does not allow them to see the warm person she truly is.

History:
It was known from day one that Lasya was an Air Bender, as all Air Nomads born in Autumn or not, were benders. Bending came naturally to her, her easily moving air at a very young age. One of the Sisters took great attention to her and became her mentor, teaching her airbending as well as how to play the pan flute, sparking her interest in music. From this special attention from Sister Iatsu, she mastered airbending at the age of sixteen and received her tattoos. Her attentions then turned to her second love, for that of music. She began to master instruments as she had airbending, with great dedication and great teachers.

Soon after, she was sent to the academy. Being a young master and her enjoyment of teaching, there was hope that she would teach new airbenders their gift, if anything were to happen to the elder masters. There was also the fear of an attack, that they would not be able to protect their disciples from this unknown enemy. Thus when speak of the academy came, Sister Iatsu made sure that Lasya was one of the children leaving the Southern Air Temple. Although, she is thankful for the concern about her from the monks, she misses her home at the temple and her friends.

Kai Sun Liao

Nickname:
“Little Penguin”- a name given to him by his mentor when Kai first began learning the arts of combat. Although he originally hated it as the name referred to his thin frame and his habit of seeking solitude among some of the smaller, nearby icebergs.

“Unagi”- a name rarely used by his peers, largely a reference to the comparatively large numbers of blade he keeps in his weapons harness. It is a comparison to the sea serpents many teeth and spikes.

"The Appearance..."
Description of Appearance:
Kai stands at just under six feet in height, with an athletic frame concealed beneath his clothing. Having grown up among the water tribe, where the most common types of food are those you must hunt for, Kai bears very little fat at all and has a complexion which is paler than normal for his tribe. Straight, shoulder length black hair bound into a ponytail frames a face with stark blue eyes that almost appear to look at the world with a coldness not unlike his homeland.

Style:
Kai's outfit varies from his “summer gear” which is comprised of a loose fitting blue tunic and black pants, to his more traditional outfit of a thick blue robe with white fur sewn to the inside. Over each of these outfits Kai wears a breastplate, bracers, and greaves crafted from the hides of leatherback seals. His weapons also remain with him no matter which outfit he is wearing, one of which being a straight sword carved of whale bone that is sheathed at his hip, the other being a harness that cuts diagonally across his chest, bearing several small throwing darts crafted from the teeth and bones of sharks.

Likes:
Martial Arts, weapons and armor of quality craftsmanship, and although he is not one to bring it up, Ka bears a certain love for paintings and calligraphy.

Dislikes:
Kai harbors a slight jealousy towards benders, seeing their power as an art form and a weapon he can never truly master.

Strengths:
As a weapons master, Kai is ever truly “unarmed”, as he believes that hand to hand combat should be studied and practiced as much as, if not more so than weapons arts.

Weaknesses:
Kai bears a code of honor which dictates that he cannot be the first to attack, and when fighting, he must make an effort to subdue a fellow human, rather than simply kill them. Kai acknowledges that this could one day lead to his death, but retorts that such a concept forces him to even greater feats of strength and skill as he usually begins a battle at a disadvantage.

Personality:
Kai's code of honor is as complex as it is rigid. Although it may seem hypocritical at times, Kai's code, for instance, does not permit him to attack first save for special circumstances such as saving another's life. It does not, however, prevent him from baiting his opponent into attacking. The end result is that Kai is overall a cold and calculating person, always seeing every encounter from a tactical perspective and preparing for total strangers to attack at any time. Kai accepts however, that his code of honor does not rule over those around him, so while he himself would not attack first, he does regard an attack upon an ally to be an attack upon himself and would respond accordingly.

Kai also keeps his jealousy towards benders buried very deeply, hiding it behind a smile even though his eyes come close to betraying the truth anytime he watches a bender train. In regards to the Avatar, this ingrown jealousy wars with a lifetime of being taught that the Avatar was to be given the utmost respect and reverence as a representative of the spiritual world. Deep down, he worries that if given the chance to save the life of an Avatar or end it, which would he really choose?

History:
Although he is aware of the basics of water bending, Kai himself has never bee able to bend, nor has he shown any affinity for the other elements. Having been born among the water tribe, Kai spent much of his early life struggling against the cold of his homeland and slowly learning how to overcome it. By the time he reached ten years of age, he had begun to tag along on the tribe's hunters trips and demonstrated a great aptitude for ambushing and herding the seals that his village favored hunting.

As his grasp for tactics and combat overall became apparent, he entered a dual apprenticeship when he came of age. Alongside the hunters, he learned to hunt, how to set traps, how to skin, cook, and make use of various animal parts while simultaneously learning the martial arts and weapons associated with the water tribe. After being sent to the academy, Kai began to learn and master the weapons and martial arts of various tribes, though his chosen weapons and equipment still remain of the water tribe, a tribute to his origins.

Badger-mole: for obvious reasons growing up he was called this by other children because he is blind and can earth bend. A nickname that changed to Master Badger as he became a Sensei.

Little one: because of his frame he was usually called this because most benders in the family were particularly large. When you compare him to his brothers he looks like the odd one out.

He stands at 5'5 while all his brothers and father stand well over six foot. A trait he inherited from his mother. Light tanned skin, small frame, muscled but not noticeable unless shirt is off. His hair is dark brown and his eyes are milky white due to his blindness.

Style:
Like the picture, clothes like that are comfortable to him.

Strengths:
Because he was born blind his body developed the ability to see by heightening his sensitivity to feel vibrations. And his hearing is uncanny, able to hear things that normally can't be heard by anyone.
Weaknesses:
Because of his life he has grown overly independent, to the point he doesn't like help from others and gets angry when people try. Being called helpless or told he can't do something infuriates him. He continually tries to work on over coming this but it has proven to be a hard thing to over come.

Personality:
Ruan is a quiet man who listens more than speaks. When he does speak he speaks volumes in few words. He has a sense of wisdom beyond his years, due to his training and overcoming his blindness. What he lacks in muscle he makes up in intellect, having spent many hours listening to scholars, poets, story tellers. He finds knowledge his comfort, being able to apply it to all cases, which helped him over come his weakness in seeing and make it a strength.

He likes to be alone usually but it doesn't make him a hermit. He likes to strengthen his mind and his body constantly to become more one with himself and to be more independent.

History:
Ruan was born blind. A sad day for Wei family due to blind people really did not have a life. But very soon they came to realize he wasn't helpless. They began to notice he would look in the direction they would walk. As if he was watching them but obviously he couldn't see when they tried to give him something. The elders of the village told the family he was blessed by the badger mole to see through the vibrations of the world. And he will have an talent for earth bending.

As soon as he was old enough he began his training under private study. Since he would learn how to earth bend slightly different from the norm, and was way ahead of his learning curve. But his studies didn't end there, he studied other styles of bending hoping to adapt it to earth to become more knowledgeable in his art.

He soon became a master of earth bending taking on the name of Master Badger from his students which he began to teach around the age of 18. Teaching people his own age even.

Other:
Raka, the Raccoon-Squirrel on his shoulder, is his friend and helper even though he can get around by himself very well. Raka helps when ever he can by retrieving things. Or providing company, think of him as a seeing eye dog....but raccoon squirrel
