Perhaps it could be both? A fresh start, but this millions of years of history with Galbar you're suggesting could encompass the storylines that happened here. Rise of Ialu, the battle for Garakai, the fall of Sauranath, etc etc.

And let's not forget the success of Escre's plot to de-power all gods and turn them into body-less presences.

You mean the failure because Invictus and Fate would have inevitably screwed him over because they did not just give all the Gods life to have one angry emotionless one make them all useless. :D

I mean, if we are planning on something of a new start but a continuation of the current story (with some tweaks regarding time) we could easily have Escre's success in his plot be the backdrop for the arrival of the new gods (we could even create a new god-type for the weakened gods of old if anyone wants to continue as their old character)
I think that's certainly one way of starting a new version while not sacrificing the work that has gone into this.

@Rtron

When I said a fresh start, I meant a FRESH start. As in forget about literally all that transpired in this RP.

To be clear, that's where I stand. I would be sacrificing as much as anyone else with a total wipe, but it would be both preferable to me and more likely to succeed in garnering the interest of new people. It's somewhat offputting to jump into a RP that's a part of a huge series that has tons of backstory you don't know about.

Being fully honest, I'm not even fully sure I'll still be in RPG come next year. It's a new occurrence for me to not get on here for longer than a week with nothing prohibiting me from doing so.

It's all good, whether we start from scratch or not will be sorted when we come back to this come summer time - people may find they prefer one of the options more by then.

And @Frettzo, really hope you can rejoin us when we restart, it will be a great opportunity to do things again and avoid some of the mistakes made earlier in the RP ;)

Still a ways off from summer, but just letting you all know that I am in the 'thinking' stages of what a reboot of this RP would be like. Considering something of a sequel where the gods got powerful enough to challenge Invictus and Fate and there was a great war of some kind (no khookies for guessing which side Vowzra and Escre were on xP) which led to the wipeout of the gods and the universe (though I'm considering having something like 'the ghost' (if you will) of Invictus/Fate/one of the other gods remaining as some kind of guardian). And from this mess would emerge the new gods. Would require quite a lengthy backstory (or simply leaving it as a mystery which can be explored ICly via the ghost).

Either that, or we do a complete reboot, go back to default setting, Invictus and Fate calling up the gods etc.
I think trying to fix up some of the irregularities in this version (regarding timeframes, populations etc.) and just continuing it would be a bit of a big ask. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to put them forward. In any case, here's me confirming that (as of yet) this will still be going ahead come summer :)

Was having Invictus and Fate ever really that necessary?

They were so detached and mysterious that you could have removed them from the plot and it wouldn't have mattered much, maybe aside from Invictus making Ialu.

I woke up this morning with, for some reason, a strong feeling that I should check RPG even though I've been inactive for a good while. Apparently, I was fated to see this

Regardless, I prefer the idea of a complete reboot. Having that complex backstory just makes things feel... messy, for lack of a better term. Like we were trying too hard to tie things together.

Of course they are necessary, the very fact that the 'gods' could exist without external interference is thanks to them, more or less. We also never got far enough for their ultimate purpose to manifest (if the gods ever did get powerful enough to rebel or something).
I like the idea of a complete reboot, saves me the hassle of creating a complex backstory xP

Not really. We could just as easily say that our pantheon of gods synthesized themselves into existence and then created the Universe as we could say that they were created by other beings. And this idea of rebellion was equally pointless due to the level of mystery that you bestowed upon them. Rebel against them to take their position as guardians against what? I found myself utterly uncaring for that whole potential plot.

Granted the matter of their inclusion os a comparatively minor thing in my opinion, but I'm just stating my honest thoughts regarding their supposed necessity. I'm interested in hearing what the others think.

Perhaps it's not my place to say, since I left this RP half way through it's lifetime (although I plan on joining the reboot), but I have to disagree. I'm the sort of person who get's very bored, very quickly if I don't have something to strive for- some goal to work towards. I could always strive for Kraken's goal of drowning all you filthy land-lovers, but I think we all know the other gods weren't ever going to let that happen. And I think the same goes for everyone else- without being able to strive for Fate and Invictus, the RP reaches a dead end. Sure, we can go on with godly politics and wars and creations and everything else, but it would just be us doing that FOREVER. Trying to figure out the purpose of Fate and Invictus- or overthrowing them- gives us something to strive for, so the RP doesn't become stagnant and repetitive. It grants a longer lifespan to Divinus.

But that's just my opinion. What do you think, @Kho?

A valid point. I never really experienced a lack of direction because I had a demigod and naturally Ialu was concerned about just grabbing as much power as he could in a bid for divinity.

But it's not like overthrowing Fate/Invictus is the only sort of plot that's feasible. There was that whole thing with Escre for example.

@Cyclone

Siighh. Their existence wasn't just thought up by me on the spot, there is a significant backstory - as is suggested in the very first post - and entails a much, much larger world beyond 'the universe'. You and I discussed briefly what lay beyond, the creation of dimension which allow beings from the exterior in and so on. Getting rid of Invictus and Fate would pretty much break the system/world I've got in mind and require either a complete reconfiguration of some kind, or accepting it as a pure sandbox RP with no significant overarching plot, or universe beyond what players decree IC, which can be chased. (Lugubrious was in fact going after that over-arching plot and would have succeeded in having it kick in somewhat).
While I agree, someone like Ialu would probably not be interested in it at all (though he did seem rather determined to find out who the 'Mighty One' was and take his advice when given etc.) other characters, like Escre, Vowzra, even whatshisfacechaosguy Vestec, may well have been interested. I'm open to what everyone else thinks and will obviously seriously consider everything proposed even if I feel it changes the basis of the universe I had in mind.

Edit: Double Ninjad.

Well, if anyone wants to say anything else, the floor is open. Cyclone's point is relevant, and if anyone supports it then please make your views heard - just keep in mind that if we do want to get rid of Invictus and Fate, you need to replace them with a different hook as the idea of a pure deity sandbox doesn't appeal to me personally (and in fact, I'm of the opinion that not having a hook and a wider lore/background to the universe beyond what is created IC is one of the main reasons deity RPs tend to fail).
