A while into the future, in a galaxy far, far away yet connected by a wormhole...

PREMISE

Welcome, everyone, to a sci-fi setting in the making called the Andreemea Galaxy! This is a massive undertaking of mine, but do not be alarmed if you're looking for a simple experience. This setting is going to be the foundation for many different possible roleplays covering all genres, but if you're only interested in a single roleplay (such as this one) then all you have to do is join the one roleplay. However, if you, like me, would enjoy creating a massive galaxy filled with tons of experiences over the years, this will be absolutely perfect for you! But first, let's get to the meat of the setting to see if it fits how you view sci-fi:

1. It's not hard sci-fi where everything must align perfectly with real world physics. You will see shield generators, dog fighting in space, massive structures, etc. However, don't think there will be space stations the size of Jupiter that can blow up the universe either. Imagine like Star Wars in nature. There will be in universe explanations for everything (even if we glance over it or bend reality a bit, as long as it still makes sense).

2. This is it's own setting, so while you can borrow ideas from elsewhere, the main canon will not allow you to just say "oh, and a wookie jedi ran up and said hello!". There will be separate canons for any ideas you can think of, such as Star Wars vs. Andreemea, but this is not my focus.

3. Magic will be more prevalent than in a lot of sci-fis. Not everyone can use magic by any means, but it won't be like the jedi where only a few can use it, and there's tons of different magical abilities.

PLOT

This roleplay is mostly episodic in formation with certain plots carrying over the various episodes as we explore the galaxy on a ship called the Exeralune. Yes, it may give you Star Trek vibes, but this is the perfect setup for a roleplay serving as the main base of operations for Andreemea.

We can explore a new world or worlds with each new plot we do, allowing us to paint a picture of so many different parts of the galaxy rather than focusing only on a single point in space, allowing us to have great fun seeing different cultures and struggles that people face. They might not all involve war. We can help people in other ways than simple violence. We may even have episodes devoted entirely to character development. After all, if this roleplay is long running, having good characters is key.

This structure also allows us to highlight everyone's own ideas, allowing everyone to feel like they are contributing a lot to the ongoing narrative, something very important to Andreemea as it's being constructed and improved on. Everyone gets a vote on what the next episode should be about, so if you create an awesome setting and plot for it then we can vote on it and showcase your work in the next episode with you acting as co-moderator! I'll only veto what wins by a fair vote if it ruins something important to the Andreemea setting as a whole, or allow us to do it but make it non-canon.

Our ship is part of the main good guy alliance called the UNT (could be pronounced unity). However, they do not have control over the entire galaxy by any means, even if they are a major superpower. There are friends and foes alike scattered across the galaxy, and the UNT may be in for some troubling times ahead. We must help out those in need to restore everyone's faith in our great alliance.

You can contribute to it as well! People have done so in past roleplays but this is a major reboot. Look at the Q&A and the guides and you'll be well on your way to knowing all of the basics. If you don't want to contribute anything than you don't have to and all you need to know will be in the OOC besides the finer details such as if you want to know the backstory of something or exactly how a race looks like. It's main purpose is to be an easy reference so you don't say, "wait, how did that guy look again?" and then look at a different roleplay through 100s of pages to find his description.

I think I got everything pretty much edited out if it's no longer canon, but if you spot something weird than feel free to let me know. Also, if you'd like more info on something, I'd love to provide it once I get around to it. There's still plenty of stuff I need to do on it.

I'm getting so into it I'm creating a language for their most common one that would be fully functional given enough words being created.

I'll have the ooc done hopefully by the end of the weekend. I had drawings of the Exeralune, our ship, on the wiki but the scale is completely off for the size I want it. I suppose you guys would rather I just post the general locations of everything important rater than delay the ooc to make out a detailed blueprint.

Well, I've fallen off the fence. Unfortunately it was onto the other side; I've looked over this and I don't think I can hold myself to the self-set standards I would have to meet to have a presence here. Good luck to those that join this, though.

Go ahead and post it. Worst case it's too similar to what I have planned or doesn't fit for some reason, but it will probably be okay. Even if it is similar, the galaxy is big enough where it's easy to see two humanoid lizard races that look very similar, for example.

Problem is, in a roleplay like this, I get too much of an urge to worldbuild. And I'm rather busy in real life - so following any such urge becmes a problem.

I stick to lower ends just so I don't fall into the trap of spending too much time and becoming too self-critical. It's a hobby at the end of the day, and if it's a massive project (rarely starts that way, but in my mind it starts becoming so), I get the inevitable urges of "Go bigger!" and "You can do better than that... just a few more hours..."

That said, feel free to shoot a PM if you want.

Due to their high power I assume they are more limited in quantity? Although their lack of space travel does balance things out pretty nicely as long as the armor blocking heavy explosives doesn't count for sustained vehicle fire for a couple seconds or some very powerful infantry weapon for a couple good hits, not just an average rocket launcher.

Any reason for the name? Perhaps a coincidence? If not then there would need to be a reason why they'd take a name from earthling culture, which isn't impossible depending on how long they've had the name. Or humans translate their name to that in English for reasons.
