Welcome to Astaria, a land of magic, fantasy and intrigue. I'm looking for a small party no more than four other players to take part in a somewhat traditional medieval fantasy RP.

The main sources of inspiration for this RP include: The Elder Scrolls (particularly Skyrim, but bits of the other games too), Lord of the Rings, Greek and Roman Myth, and D&D 4th Ed (I know, it's not the best but it's what I've got).

I'm leaving this quite open to new ideas for now, whilst I've got a few elements together I really want to make something that'll be fun for you the players. So please feel free to throw out any ideas you have and we can take a look at it.

Here's some general information though just to get things started:

Dwarves
Dragonborn
(Half breeds between some of these races are possible, just run them by me first.)

In addition characters may choose to suffer (or gain, depending on your perspective) from Vampirism or Lycanthropy.

Magic
Magic is split into various schools, a mage who is skilled in destruction magic (fireballs, lightning bolts etc) may be completely useless in divination. Broadly speaking Mages won't know more than two schools of magic, although very powerful mages may pick up the odd lower tier spell from other schools here and there.

Character Creation
In order to ensure that the party is somewhat balanced, I'll be checking the various sheets you submit. When I put up the full page, I'll include a list with the classes needed (fighter, mage, healer etc). You'll be able to put forward a character for any of the available roles on a first come first served basis.

Like me some fantasy RPs, but I'd need to know a little more before committing myself to any grand quests.

With a party of four, my first concern is that we don't end up bundling the same role. I think a party of four is the standard for any fantasy party, isn't it? Might be best to come up with some roles for people to fill. Ya know, "Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Healer", so that we don't end up with four healer types. Sounds odd, but I've seen it happen. Awful lot of pacifists around these parts. Just an idea though.

What of races? I'd vote for the generic kind (Humans, Elves, Dwarves etc) myself, but again that's just me. I can do anything, even if it's six limbed squid people.

What magic system is in play? Some people get a little crazy over this sometimes, and I've come up against some real professors in the past. In my latest fantasy RP, I simply wrote "no overarching magical mechanic, feel free to create your own type and school", which seemed to work well. And again, that's just an idea or advisory if you will.

A map is always good, there's a bunch of free map programs online. I use this big fellah if I'm aiming big, or this cool little dude if I'm aiming small.

And finally, you got any ideas on what the story is likely to be about?

@The Elvenqueen@Frengo Hopefully those additions clear things up a little? I should have a map sorted out soon enough. As for the story I've got a plot together but I'd like to get a rough idea of the characters you'd prefer playing first. I find it's better for the story to be dictated by the PC's rather than the other way around.

@Karos Cool, I shall be eagerly awaiting! Hmm, well personally I enjoy playing as an Elf, my go-to character is usually an ice mage, sometimes with some healing abilities depending on what the rest of the players are like/what's needed, the most though I can be flexible if needed, I'm not a total stick-in-the-mud :P

@Karos Cool, cool. Was thinking a traditional Dwarven warrior, haven't played as the little burly folk for a while. You know, a fat and strong meat shield with a big ass axe. Likes his ale, burps a lot and makes plenty of inappropriate or insensitive comments. Doesn't scare easily, and if he does, then everyone else needs to run.

But the above is just early thinking. I prefer non-magic characters.

However, I can play literally anything, from wizards to assassins, paladins to necromancers. So if I need to trade my Dwarf in for a Halfling bard, I'll happily do so.

Oohh, I might definitely go for a Vampire elf mage OuO xP

@Karos You'll want to save the image to your computer, and upload it to an image hosting site - that link you provided wont work, unfortunately.

I use Imgur to host my images, it has a simple and quick sign up and lets you host anything pretty much. Also, it's easy to link images from Imgur to a forum like this.

Yeah, they are neat map creators OuO All that time I spent hand-drawing my maps for my stories, could have saved myself so much grief XDD Waiting for a "less busy server" so I can have a squizzle at the map you made @Karos :P
