Yeah, I fudged that aspect a bit just for the sake of drama, with the excuse being that the Polish are stretched thin and need to cover as much ground as possible. The 18th operates pretty much as I described, but their smallest team is two men. Going in alone= getting killed or captured as you sleep.

I definitely wouldn't mind having a partner if you're willing! Maybe an older, more experienced scout.

How about a Horse Mounted (as you suggest) Scout Sniper team? Would you mind carrying the radio? I'll bring the long gun? I have no problem ad libbing this at all. I did some research and found the 18th Recon Regiment uses BRDMs and probably either BMPs or BTR-90s. But the Regiment could have a platoon of LRRPs that operate in small teams for the Long Range stuff like this. Horses could make it different. :)

Yeah, like I said, I took some dramatic license. My rationale being that since this is pretty much an unprecedented situation for Poland's modern military, they're going to use whatever is available even if it's out of date. I like that concept, I think it'd be fun if the GM is cool with it.

Americans like even numbers like 2 and 4. Two 2-vehicle sections per platoon. The XO gets a tank too! so he can run with the CO. 14 tanks in a Company and 44 tanks per Battalion with the Battalion Commander and Battalion Operations Officer (S3) forming a section in the Tactical Command Post (TAC CP) or Jump TOC.

I wonder if some of my old chit on unit formations is around here anywhere?

Alright, one swamping later I've done my little intro. I hope you're all still in.

I assume, the Russians are encountering only Ukrainians for now. How many days into the conflict are we? It will take at least five to seven days before NATO forces reach the Western edges of Ukraine. Airborne units would reach the battlefields sooner and naturally NATO air. I ask for number of days simply to determine how far our units have traveled.
