As Kain got free of the containment facility, he cursed himself for being so careless. Careless enough to be captured, even for such a short period of time. It was a mistake, he vowed, he would not make again. As he crawled through the sewers, the vile stench of waste and death flowed into his nose. He had to find a way to get to street level and fast, before it clung anymore to his clothing. After a short distance, he came across a ladder and manhole. Climbing the ladder, he shoves the manhole out of the way and claws his way to the street. As the street lights reflected in his blood red eyes, he knew that he's at least a mile away from where he started and breathing a breath of fresh air he realised it was too late. His jacket absorbed some of the sewer stink. He stood up and sprinted away.

Alice was sitting in an abandoned building, listening to her surroundings. As night fell, she knew she couldn't sleep too deeply. Not since the outbreak has she gotten a good nights sleep. Too much could happen while she was asleep if she allowed herself to sleep a deep and truly restorative sleep. She quietly made a quick patrol of the building before locking up or barricading the doors. She was about to go to sleep when she heard movement outside. She heard a manhole scrape along the ground and then someone take off running. Whoever it was clearly wasn't hunting at the moment, otherwise it's likely she would have been noticed. When things quiet down again, she closes her eyes and drifts into a light sleep.

Angelo and his companions were working on their little slice of normalcy. They chose a spot next to an old park nearby to set up their little town, after all their is no such thing as a settlement without food and water and that park was going to provide just that once they were able to set up their defenses for it. Angelo wanted to make a place where people could feel safe to have a good nights sleep, a place where they didn't need to fear the person standing next to them. However to do that they needed to start from scratch and at the moment Angelo and his 15 companions mainly groups of families that weren't to infected but were still not strong enough to last on their own. They had started building walls to surround their turf mainly out of metal and wood that they could scavenge nearby to include the park itself and a few buildings nearby for their housing and guard areas. Angelo was used to working hard but because of the virus spreading in him he has gotten weaker and hasn't been able to do all that he wants to do. The others think that he is in the first stage of the virus which was a blessing in reality considering what the alternative could turn him into but they trusted Angelo to tell them if something was wrong with him. As the sun started to set Angelo called out "Alright everyone days over head back inside and block your doors like the usual" Angelo said and they all nodded going back to their families and their rooms in the buildings as Angelo himself finally dropped to the floor tired. He couldn't keep doing this for long he just kept getting tired after all but at this point he just felt a little winded and would only need to catch his breath before he took up guard position with a few of the adults that made it past the second stage and could sleep less...

The blackhawk bounced clumsily on the tarmac of the helipad, causing Colonel James Erwin to utter a curse as he grabbed something solid to stop himself from falling. "What kind of landing was that?" he shouted in the direction of the cockpit. "S.A.S my ass, how did a maggot like you find its way into my outfit?"

"Sorry sir," the pilot replied. James didn't hear the arse hole mumbled shortly after.

The Colonel jumped onto the helipad, flanked by six of his black-clad soldiers. They moved across it with customary discipline; guns high, and footwork smooth. They didn't know what they were walking into, but they knew it wasn't good. They'd been conducting a survey of the Zone when a call came in from base, the message was as cryptic as it was horrifying.

"This is Captain Ranger, the Prisoner is killing my men, need back-" followed by a gut wrenching scream and static.

The Colonel and his team reached the stairs, and descended into the B.H.C.U's forward operating base. Brickwork gave way to the sheen of metal panels, as they made their way into the network of the FOB's corridors. Everything looked as they had left it; no blood or spent shell casings. Not wanting to waste time, the Colonel led his team from the front, charging on towards the Inteligence and Security room.

He pushed his hand against a scanner besides the heavy blast doors, and they hissed open. The room was empty, chairs carelessly pushed aside, and a red light pulsing in the background. Other than that, it looked in good shape. James allowed himself a bit of relief - perhaps the situation had been contained?

A quick glance of the security monitors crushed that relief however. Their grainy black and white images revealed dark blood stains, dismembered corpses and bullet holes in the areas beyond the intelligence room.

"Christ," he muttered. "How did it escape? And how did it kill so many of my men?"

The team continued onwards, exiting the security room, and stepping over the bodies of their fallen comrades. The members of the B.H.C.U were hardened combat veterans, but that didn't stop some of them from gagging at the sicking sight of so many dead. They tracked the carnage all the way back to the holding cell, and the lab, where they found half the science team strewn about in various death poses.

"Shit," the Colonel muttered.

The Prisoner's tracks ended at the entrance to the sanitation network, where two of the Colonel's men were slumped against the wall with grievous wounds - the barrels of their guns still smoking.

"Get a word out to the Senator," the Colonel said bitterly to his men. "We need Bravo Team here stat, tell him we're going after the Prisoner in force."

It would be an hour before Bravo team arrived to replace the losses the Colonel had sustained, but then he'd be ready to march out into the zone and re-apprehend the bastard that had torn apart his crack fighting unit.

Alice wouldn't get a proper night's rest that night. Her rest was interrupted by an undead vampire breaking down a door and its barricade. She pulled her pistol out and stares in the direction the sound came from. She looked around quickly, attempting to see a means of escape. The problem with having been thorough, was that it left her with few options in terms of escape. As the glint of red eyes come into view, she pulls the trigger. The bullet rings out and tears into the beast's chest and staggers him. Alice pulls the trigger again before it can recover and the second bullet connects with the creature's head. She knows she has to move now. Any vampire nearby has heard the shots and other threats may be near. She quickly packs her stuff and begins to run. Her senses are running sharp as adrenaline flows through her system.

'Run. Run. Get far from here and hide.'

Angelo panted gently as one of their night watchmen came over telling Angelo that he needed to take it easy but Angelo dismissed his worries "nah I need to work and make sure we build the home this place needs" Angelo told him with a smile and that gave the man hope that they really would see the finished product of their little town whenever it is meant to be made. Angelo soon got back up and went to towards the outskirts of their turf to keep an eye open for any diseased. While they wouldn't say no to a new family or group arriving Angelo had to make sure they didn't take in any of those close to becoming a feral vampire. Letting one of them in or even letting someone that was close to the 4 stage in would destroy what they were building at best at worse they would all be dead in a matter of seconds. Angelo couldn't stand letting that happen again so he needed to be better prepared this time around...
