In the beginning, the beasts of fantasy ran wild. It was only by the power of the Tellers that they could be captured within books and scrolls. However, once captured, they were sad and yearned to be free. Many of the beasts submitted to an agreement and became Tell Tale Beasts. Thus came the Tamers. The Tamers are the only ones capable of sharing the soul of the beast, allowing them to roam but also keep the unsuspecting humans safe. Tamers usually will not be aware of their lineage until around 16-18 and at 18 both they and their Beast are send to Teller University in Scandinavia.

So that is the general premise. You are a Tamer in the modern world. Think of the Beasts, as a familiar. You can have just about any fictional creature from Bigfoot to Slenderman. Nothing extreme like Cthulu unless you nerf him down. Your Beast can only be killed by other Beasts and Beasts are normally passed down through families. Beasts have a mundane form (like a turtle) and you have a Tamer form.

Just regular clothes with Mundane beast, then you change your appearance to whatever suits your beast. So say your beast is Slender man? Maybe his mundane is a doll. But for you in Tamer form, you wear a suit to match or something similar.

You guys can go ahead and start on a rough draft for your character sheet. You can use similar creatures too. I suggest nothing too big. I'll be using the Yeti.

Maybe a PE/self defense teacher? There has to be less than noble tamers and beasts out there, makes sense to me if the students at least know how to defend themselves and their beasts.

You (tamer) share a soul with a beast. In order for the beast to be with you in the normal world, they take on a mundane form that they can change back and forth from at your command.
