CorruptedShadow The Warrior of Sunlight

Jack scratched the back of his head and let out a sigh. He turned around quickly, pulling out his revolver from his holster, and fired a shot, hitting a bottle perfectly. He smirked and continued firing, practicing his trigger finger. The boy had made some progress over the years, but was far from experienced. Still, he went on with his business, trying his best to improve his gunslinger skills in the hopes of one day becoming a gunslinger himself. He never wanted to be a Deputy, in all reality. In fact, he just wanted to be a gunslinger so he could leave the town and help others instead of just this one city. Unfortunately, it seemed like a fleeting dream for Jack...

"Bartender!" I called "Get this nice old timer a round of ale!" Once the man seemed satisfied I leaned towards him over the table. All of my hatred for Abner began to rise in a matter that it hadn't since the attack. I swallowed it down. Emotions were dangerous for someone in his business, and hatred was the worst, followed only by love. Though I couldn't really place love on a scale because I hadn't ever really felt it. I loved King as best friends tend to do, but I had never really loved anybody, not even my parents. I shook my head. "You got your ale old man, now it's your turn."

Glenn squinted at the man, his interest peaking as he realized he had legitimate information. He looked at Jaron again, trying to make out just how much he wanted Abner dead. He could tell by his body language and tone that this truly was personal for him. The Cavalier realized this wasn't a case for the young detective, it was settling a score. The only question Glenn wondered was... what did Abner do to him to deserve this young man's hate?

- Jaron and Glenn
"Ahhhh, now that's what I call service!" the old man said gleefully, happily flinging the letter to them and enjoying his drink, taking a hefty 5 Hds from Jaron. The letter couldn't have been a day old and was written in a most elegant manner with a pure ink pen, a rarity in these times. The letter, read as such.
"Dear Libby
I simply cannot stand to be apart from you any longer
I know your father does not approve of our love, but that only makes me desire you more
We must run together, flee to a place that will accept our emotions
I will see you at Horn rock, my dearest, I have friends there that will allow us to leave this pitiful little town behind
A place in Neo Vegas for us both, my darling
That is where we shall be wed
All my love
Abner Hogan."
Horn Rock happened to be due Southwest of Primafrontier, about a half mile away.

"Thank you for all your help sir." I looked around and noticed I didn't have his pistol on me. I looked at Glen. "I have to get some stuff together. Meet here in an hour?" Before getting an answer, I bolted. I was practically skipping on my way back to my office. Finding Hogan would hopefully lead me to Christopher Card, the man who told Hogan to shoot King. He also took it upon himself to remove my arm via shotgun. I grabbed my gun and my jacket, in addition to my sword, and locked up the office, pinning up a "Gone on business" sign. As I walked down the street I saw a deputy I was vaguely familiar with. He wore a Bowler hat and was constantly firing the pistol of his. I waved as I walked past and said "Howdy."

Glenn sighed as he took a seat and sat his hat on the table, revealing his near-black color buzzcut. Figuring there was no point to even leaving the saloon, he decided he'd get something. As the bartender approached, Glenn flatly muttered, "Water." He was pretty sure he saw the bartender roll his eyes at the Cavalier's request for water instead of alcohol. He had never liked the taste of any form of alcohol, as he always found it too bitter or, in some cases, too sweet. Not to mention with only an hour to relax before embarking on a bounty hunt or rescue as his new, temporary partner stated; Glenn figured water would cool down his body temperature and help him regain some of his energy from the long ride he had taken here.

The bartender placed the glass of water in front of Glenn as he thanked the man with a noticeable but silent nod. After Glenn took a sip of his refreshing water, he took a look at his pocket watch and mumbled, "This hour is going to feel like an eternity..."

Simon took a long pull from the glass of water, his eyes dead set on the bartender. The information was good, but it was merely a rumor. If the man was indeed at Happy Times Chapel, he would soon be gone before he could hear of another sighting. However, after recalling the man's motif and harmless appearance, Simon began to see a pattern. No one would ever suspect a clergyman, he thought, especially for the folk who were too dimwitted to realize that the man was a criminal. Or, perhaps he was a legitimate preacher-man who just became rotten to the core...

The bounty hunter shrugged, quickly losing interest in the man's story and focusing more on refilling his coffers. After all, a wanted man was a wanted man and nothing in this world would change his mind. "Ain't no rest for the wicked," Simon snickered, rising from his chair after downing the entire glass of water in a long pull. "Get me another, bartender," Simon commanded. He would forget about the bounty the other two were gaining for; there was no point in splitting the bounty and there was no point in killing them both. He would rather not have his own head on the Bounty Board, for that matter. Not that it would matter, for if anyone came after him, he would just kill them and hunt down the man who made him a criminal.

It also wouldn't do for Jackal's Crypt to discover that he was still alive...

Benny smirked Now I reckon I heard of Ricky. I knew his song...hell...I know of his crimes even better. I ain't threatenin him. Guess I take my time to get a gander at what he may offer if I play for him. The guy from the poker table walked over "Hey! why the hell are ya playin for these gals but you didn't for me and the fellas?" Benny looked over Hm? Well...the ladies asked me nicely...I figured, what the hell?

Stepping forward "Well I hate yer damn attitude." Benny looked down and then back over again Sorry mister..but...can you leave us alone...me and the purty lady is talkin.... Benny went to grab the mug of beer again until the poker man smacked the mug off the table. "I'm already tired of you...who the hell do you think you are boy." Looking at the spilled beer on the ground, Benny gave a sigh Damn...and you wasted perfectly good beer and dirtied the nice lady's floor.

Cal digested the information seeing Rindstock as less of a priority, might have settled down somewhere else anyways, where as both Jaggy and Rhonda made his blood boil them being frequent and unrepentant killers. His figured checking what the rumors on them would be good so he could get a rough idea of where they were but he didn't expect perfect information which suit him just fine. Before he snatched the posters he would get his information so he went to retake his seat and called over the bartender again.

"Any whereabouts on Jaggy and Rhonda?" Cal asked showing his interest in them but not that he was going to immediately rush off.

The tension over near the guitar player from the pool playing gentlemen was growing and something of a cause for concern. It wouldn't be the first bar brawl to erupt while Cal was present but he would prefer it didn't. Though once the bartender said his piece he might have to give his own to the louder of the two if anything to get them to settle it elsewhere.

- Benny and Others
"Alright now, let's keep it civil gentlemen." The bar goers quickly turned to look at the open door as Sheriff Mullins strolled in, hands at his hips and close to his holster. He approached the poker players and Benny, keeping a calm look on his face. He tutted slightly, seeing the broken glass on the floor. "Now boys, it ain't worth disputin' so hard over a piece a music, is it? He's playin' anyway, so don't go causin' trouble over it. We got plenty room in the cells if you wanna take it further." He advised the instigator, keeping a calm head. The rest of the bar goers looked to him with respect, all others in the bar would too see his actions.

- Cal
As the tension in the bar settled a little with the arrival of the sheriff, the bartender turned back to him.
"Well... last tell I hear of Jaggy, he's working with some fella over by Horn Rock, southeast of here. Rhonda's pretty easy to find, just look for wanton destruction and corpses... check near Oldcon to the west, the place is abandoned, she might be there." The bartender advised him, looking to the bounty board. At this rate, he'd need to put up new posters...

Simon noticed the growing tension in the room but he ignored it. A life with Jackal's Crypt, a gang that was considered the lowest of the low and performed deeds that would make sane people vomit, fully encouraged by Jebediah Jackal" himself, would desensitize anyone from any growing violence. Even the potential ones. After receiving his water, Simon slugged it down and placed the glass back onto the bar, immediately turning his heels to leave. The sheriff had entered the bar and Simon began to study the man. This was a sleepy town and small brawls were to be expected, considering that the saloon was the only highlight that the citizens had. However, the man himself was interesting-- the sheriff appeared composed, even comfortable considering the ambiance, and the way he wore his gun screamed that he was a veteran.

A dangerous man in the guise of a peacemaker.

Simon made it a mental note to avoid any confrontation with the man, or else face a life-and-death firefight. After the quelling the trouble that was brewing, Simon strode across the room and towards the double doors, tipping his hat to the man. The sheriff must have been a fighter and a survivor, and that dangerous quality made Simon respect him. "Sheriff," Simon greeted with that dark, raspy baritone. Without another word, Simon left the saloon and began to make his way north.

Mourner Muldoon...

Benny stopped playing the guitar as the Sheriff came in. The poker player turned his head slightly "Don't know what yer talkin' about sheriff...just think the tune he was playin' wasn't to my likin'...no problems here. Ain't that right boys!?" the guy said to get the sheriff off his ass while the others who was with him agreed. Benny watched the two and calmly smoked his spliff. He stared into the eyes of the sheriff and at this point, he didn't need any unnecessary problems but at times it's difficult to not have a little fun when the opportunity presents itself. With a smirk and shrug Sure didn't seem like there was no problem...............but, I'm simply here to make a little somethin' and then be on my way. nice to meet you though Sheriff... he said calmly.

Glenn squinted at the sheriff, forming an early opinion on the man. As he sat in the far corner of the bar, he could hear the loud yet calming words of the sheriff. He may also know something about Hogan, perhaps I should speak to him. Glenn figured he would wait until after the sheriff finish his conversation with the other patrons before saying anything.

I walked past the deputy when he failed to speak. Wrapped up in his shooting I presume. Now, I had to head back to the bar. Glenn would be waiting. He decided that he may as well tell the story to the bounty hunter. I was many things and a mystery was not one of them. I liked being upfront with my feelings. So, as I walked into the bar, I looked around for The Cavalier, certain he wouldn't have gone far

The path up north took him a good hour to arrive at Happy times chapel. As per it's name, it was a wooden chapel, slightly ramshackle with its aged peeling paint on the sides, some broken roof tiles and a messy untended graveyard off to its left. A shovel had been left in the sands too, no doubt someone had buried something recently. The way into the church was simple enough, a set of double doors left slightly ajar. He could hear something within... a voice, perhaps?

- Benny, Glenn, Jaron
"Yeah well, you boys just stick to that." The sheriff patted his sidearm somewhat threatening before turning to the guitar player, his mustache twitching as he smiled. "Pleasure to meet you too, stranger. But please, call me Mullins." he greeted him with a slight tip of the hat. He surveyed the bar slightly to see if there were any more trouble. If one wanted to get further conversation out of him, now was the time.

With a warmer smirk, Benny gave a slight nod Mullins huh?....Freeman.....Benny Freeman. He introduced himself as the poker man watch "Wait....that name sounds familiar." I just got one of those names I guess. He said while his eyes was on the poker guy and back at Mullins. Question though Sheriff Mullins...do you get much trouble here?

The Cavalier remained seated as he made eye contact with Jaron, instead of standing, he gestured at Jaron to take a seat. He then looked at the sheriff, cleared his throat, and spoke up. "Sheriff, a moment please?" While waiting for the sheriff to walk over to him, he looked at Jaron and clarified what why he wasn't ready to go yet. "I figured that before we leave, we could get as much information as we could." Glenn sat up straight in his seat and leaned forward onto the table, "Sheriffs usually know quite a bit about the people in their towns, I bet he knows a lot more about Hogan's ability and skills than that drunk did."

Cal committed the locations to memory and gave a bartender a quick thank you while he looked back a bit towards the sheriff. It was a pleasant happening for the older man to show up and though he hadn't had much contact with the lawman seeing one who was always where he needed to be was a welcome sight of relief. After what happened to Serenity he couldn't help being silently glad that the town had someone experienced watching over it and keeping order. The Guerilla however was ready to head out so he went and made sure to grab the posters, and his rifle, before giving the sheriff a friendly smile as he passed the man before heading out of the bar.

Now where to go...might as well get the trip to Oldcon over with. I'll have some quiet time scoping the place out at least.

The Guerilla stated making tracks for Oldcon readying himself to deal with Rhonda and fully intending to scout the abandoned area before he did it. No need to rush if it all it took was a single well placed shot from range so he would be making damn sure he knew his options.

Simon analyzed his surroundings, making sure there was nothing that could prevent him from escaping if need be. The grave was a bit intriguing, but he would have to check it later. As far as he could tell, Mourner Muldoon was still inside the chapel... at least, that's what he hoped. The voices coming from the church nearly assured him. Silently, toe-heel, Simon made his way towards the church's double doors, which were left slightly ajar, and he stood aside from the slight opening. He waited to hear anything, to measure how far away the voices could be, to gather extra intel about whether Muldoon was still there, to hear any other voices that would indicate additional hostiles or any hostages.

Simon waited...

"Not usually, nosir." Mullins shook his head as he spoke to the guitarist. "Usually this here town's mighty peaceful, on account o' good folks like mahself and the deputy. Sides, we ain't got much worth comittin' crime over. We're a small community after all." he explained before turning to the other gentleman. He turned his head as he was being called over. "Scuse me a moment, friend." he approached Glenn and Jaron's table, fixing them both with a keen eye. "What can I do fer you boys?"

-Cal
Oldcon was an old mining town that was constructed a long time ago during a mining rush for what was once thought to be gold. This turned out to be a nasty rumour as what the folks thought was gold was in fact crystallized Stingblade venom. The entire place had been built atop a Stingblade nest. That was long ago though and nowadays, the town was abandoned, of both miners and Stingblades. It took about a half hour trek to arrive at Oldcon. There was no sign of disturbance, nothing but rickety old wooden buildings as far as the eye could see. There were no signs of the miscreant Cal hunted.

-Simon
"I will fill your mountains with the dead. Your hills, your valleys, and your streams will be filled with people slaughtered by the sword. I will make you desolate forever. Your cities will never be rebuilt. Then you will know that I am God." He heard the voice inside. Sounded like a bible verse at a rough guess. The voice was a decent ways away from him... chances were Muldoon may be standing at the altar or somewhere near the back. There were no other voices or distinct sounds he could hear... except the slight tightening of rope.
