@DLL
I apologize for holding things up. I actually had the post written yesterday, and as soon as I finished copying it from word to paste here, I accidentally hit delete T.T.

I will try to have it up today.

Hmm...okay.

Beneath all the unusual language I'm not entirely sure what's going on in this one. To confirm:

-NQCorban is raising a flexi-crystal barrier thing around Meteor
-NQCorban is then throwing hir lance across the island to impale Meteor through said barrier
-The impact of lance and flexi-crystal causes an explosion

Is that about the size of it?

Unusual language? Not entirely sure what is so unusual about it. I know I'm an oddball, but I try to be coherent.

In any case, you are right save for a single detail; Corban's wielding the screw-lance, not launching it.

Edit!: Corrections are as follows - they will address each of your points accordingly.

1.He is raising a crystalline barrier about meteor, yes. However, it is simultaneous with his self-railgunning.

2. The impact did not cause the explosion, the pyrolysis effect happening via the interaction with Corban's blade, the crystal as a heat insulator, and meteors barrier (which was imploded) caused it.

Since I know my latest IC post ("Pain Imminent") is going to be…ahh, somewhat contentious…please permit me to explain.

Divinity’s defense against the cannonut attacks was so brief as to be difficult to even notice on first read, consisting solely of the phrase “Instead, it was dumped like a guyser into crystal blue waters, swirling milky patches of color floating within as they were impaled on quartz lances. Hefty defenses weren't required when you had precise ones.” No detail was given as to where the javelins came from, how they got there, or what they did to stop the cannonut attacks. The cannonuts were explicitly stated in the previous attacking post to be continually under Meteor’s direct control throughout the entirety of their flight – not a single word from Divinity was given to explain how that control was broken or disrupted. As such, by the rules of the game I grew up playing by, it was not broken or disrupted at all and the attack goes through essentially clean, driven by Meteor’s unopposed telekinesis.

I’m of course willing to let NQCorban try to mitigate the damage she’s about to take, but she’ll have to do so from a position of severe disadvantage unless a judge disagrees with my assessment of Divinity’s defense. If there’s anything I’ve misinterpreted in the board’s overall rules to dispermit this sort of reversal, please point them out to me and I’ll make corrections.

If they were impaled, then their kinetic energy was stunted, and they are no longer in flight. Secondly, context clues and reading comprehension go long ways in RP. Especially combat. Corvana has already displayed an ability to control sand, and when the intercept was finished, its even stated that the lances 'reverted back into silica'. It is not my obligation to ensure you are aware of what is happening. If you wanted clarification, you simply could have asked instead of outright nullifying my actions under the pretense that 'that's how I did it where I'm from.'

Given I feel I have more than enough of an argument to contest your claims, which again could have been avoided with simple communication, I'll have to call in a judge to decide on this.

Edit: Upon reading your post through to completion, there are several other hickups you experienced in your idea of what had transpired in my post. My lances were not airborne, but jutting from the ground. That makes your riposte a non-factor. Since they would have slid down the length of the lances instead of pressing on toward Corban.

Another is your explanation of how my barrier works, which is incorrect if you look at my post, which outright states no rigidity was traded for their flexibility. I am not arguing you can't get out. But you can't get out with the method given, for the reasons they are given. This is ultimately up to a judges discretion, so I'll just leave this here.

In order to avoid a conflict of interests I will not comment on the ongoing debate, however I would like to point out that it is very much your obligation to ensure your opponent is aware of what is happening. I often find myself sinking into this pit as well. However roleplaying is a collaborative game at its core and expecting someone else to collaborate blindfolded is bad form.

However, all of the details were there. This 'lack of detail', this 'blindfold' is imaginary. I can agree that amiability and understanding are important, but I repeat that it is not my responsibility to make sure my opponents reading comprehension skills are up to par when the puzzle pieces are already there. It is not my responsibility to alter my writing style because one person happens to not like any form of vagueness.

I gave several clues as to what was happening. Pretty clear clues, in fact.

Heh...perhaps, Divinity, a word of description as to the spears being ground-based would've helped? I do apologize; you specifically used the word 'javelin' when describing the lances dissolving, which has a very specific connotation in most folks' minds. Without any description of where the spears came from/how they formed, I was left to try and figure out from what few clues were present.

If I missed the bubble, that's my bad and judgment will likely make me pay for it. Clarity is important, however...and I will further admit that I don't like the notion that a single tossed-off sentence with no support can nullify an entire post's worth of attack in this place.

Shawdus: not a problem man, and I appreciate your help. Life comes first, always does. That said, is there a standardized forum judgment system we can appeal to? Given the Round 1 pairings and results, there's plenty of room for conflict-of-interest accusations leveled at you no matter which way you jump on judgment, and I'd hate to see you put through that for no reason. If there's a third-party system we can employ, that might be for the best. If not, then good luck and don't stress yourself over it.

@Divinity

Just to make sure that @DLL wasn't having one of his hot flashes I gave your post another read. In the first paragraph alone I see you give no clear indication as to whether your javelins were airborne or landlocked. However your choice of the world javelin definitely gives the impression of a projectile in flight. That alone is a major flaw in need of correction and one that makes it very difficult for your opponent to create a response without stepping on your toes.

For the sake of civility and sanity I will not go over the rest of your post.

So you have two writers, who are admittedly on the same side, that find your posts needlessly vague. I'd like to think that our writing alone makes it clear that we are not amateurs and I would take an attack on my reading comprehension very personally. I would also respond by pointing out that you don't seem to be aware that Meteor is guiding those coconuts through the air, unless your javelins can continue applying pressure beyond initial impact there is no reason for them to freeze in the air, and I see no indication that this is the case. Even if they are staked into the ground given the lithe shape of a javelin and the very powerful nature of Meteor's telekinesis it's very possible the coconuts could snap the heads of said javelins off and continue on their merry way. You never indicated how strong these javelins were beyond their initial ability to withstand impact so it would be a fair assumption. The point I'm making is that you are hardly flawless, so please do not throw shade, and that yes you are in fact obligated to pass out details, lest fighting devolve into a lengthy conversation about he-said she-said.

Of course it's entirely possible that @DLL and I are both illiterate cats who have managed to learn just enough English to be a nuisance online and we don't understand the true nature of combat. That said we also represent a sizable chunk of the tournament that you chose to host and as a responsible host it is in your best interest to run a friendly game.

The idea that an attack or defense must match the length of the opponents to be valid is, in my opinion, an incredibly outdated T1 practice. The fact they came from the ground would have been as simple to find out as reading the words 'reverted back into silica'. Silica is sand, and we're on a beach. There is also the option of communication. You asked several questions regarding this exact post, yet never included your confusion or aggravation at my defense.

moreover, I find your wording in your riposte post..... Convenient. I recall nothing of the coconuts being made 'harder' by your telekinesis. No clues, no nothing. It was simply stated she flung coconuts at Corvana, and could control them mid-flight. The only shadow of a hint was the word 'cannonball', which is highly disingenuous, not just vague. This could refer to speed, but not density since coconuts are not that dense, obviously. Your riposte posits they had always been that hard, which is not the case insofar as the posts are concerned.

again, it falls to a judge so for now we play the waiting game.

Given the rather charged nature of this conversation, I'll do my best to leave off further responses until a judge can make a decision. However, there's one last comment from Div I feel I should address.

Divinity: If you feel there's allowable room for vagueness, stylistic or otherwise, in a competitive combat scenario, then you and I have learned the game under very, very, very different rules, and I apologize to the rest of the tournament once again for the disruption in its proceedings.
